I've been looking for this type of stability & support in a trail runner for the past couple years. As a 220 lb guy with severe pronation in my right instep, I need a shoe that's burly and supportive. Well, this is it!
I've tried (and been fairly happy with) the New Balance 876 and the North Face Doubletrack, but neither shoe had quite enough support for me. The XR Crossmax Guidance offers me the stability and support I need, and it has a very precise fit that helps support my ankle. I does not offer much in the way of cushioning, so you may not want to use it as a high-mileage pavement runner. I've got Superfeet Greens in mine (they creak like crazy, though!)
I love the speed laces and the fully enclosed tongue. The grippy soles provide impressive traction. IMO, this shoe is even burly enough for light hiking with a daypack. And they're pretty smooth looking, too!

Overall, I like these shows, and I've run a few 50k's in them on trails and gravel. The sole is stiff, like another reviewer mentioned, and I like that when running on rocky surfaces. The problem I've had with these shoes is that if I run in them with the insoles/liners that they come with, they turn my feet to hamburger. Just heinous blisters on the bottom of my feet. I got some custom insoles though, and with them, the shoes are great. The lace system is kind of awkward at first, but overall I like it and I've gotten used to it.

Great shoes, first trail run was a technical 6 miler, perfomed great. I would recommend these shoes to everyone, especially larger runners I'm 6 foot 220 lbs. !!!!

These are like running in boots. I'm no shoe minimalist by any stretch but these shoes are so stiff that they get no traction on uphill, rocky trails. I've put 60 miles on them so far and I'm officially done with them. At first I thought they'd loosen up with wear but did not. I'll wear them for doing yard work from now on.

This shoes takes a long time to break-in, at least 50-60 miles of trail running. They were so uncomfortable at first, I almost sent them back. Best to wear them around the house for a few days before running. Because they are so stiff out of the box, the traction seems poor. Maybe after they loosen up a bit and get more flexible the grip will improve. I'll amend this review if that occurs.

Overall, it's an OK shoe. The quick laces are great and stay snug. Arch support is adequate. This shoe seems like it will have good durability.

I use these shoes for when I have to run a few km on roads to reach the trails. They have great traction on dirt and gravel, and enough cushioning to handle steep downhill runs on pavement. I've put about 100 km on them so far. I like the lacing system, I set them for my first run, tucked away the laces, and I haven't adjusted them since. I will buy them again.

I have suspect ankles and these shoes really level out my feet on the rocky trails of Phoenix. I wouldn't use these shoes for running on roads. I hope they don't change these for awhile. They have the stability of the brroks beast with trail traction.

The debut of these shoes: tall, hard, and fast. I bought them for the lacing system which is great once mastered. The fit is incredible, they feel as if you could run in them without securing the laces. A bit hard as I only run on roads and concrete. I look forward to their evolution.
