Bought these shoes to begin walking/running. They are very well constructed and have plenty of toe box room which I needed. But after just walking around the house in them for a short period, there didn't seem to be very much cushion at the ball of the foot and that's where my shoes wear down first. Had to return.

These are a great shoe for anyone who needs a wide toe box coupled with some arch support. I have very high insteps and a "dense" foot and this shoe fits perfectly. So many shoes are very tight across the top of my foot, regardless of lacing, but these just fit like a dream. I'm not overly fond of the lacing but I can deal with it. I'm a slower runner in it more for the satisfaction of completing ever increasing distances than setting PR's. I found the size to fit just right so my tendency is to say narrow feet might find this shoe too wide. I wear the same size in this shoe as I do regular shoes.

I purchased these for mixed condition winter running. I must send them back because the lacing configuration is fixed and hurts the top of my foot. I didn't even have an opportunity to run in them. They create pressure points atop my foot. I wear prescription orthotics and the lacing configuration does not allow me to adjust this. Would be a great shoe for someone with out orthotics.

I love this shoe because it fits my foot perfectly. The first time I saw them, they just looked like the profile of my foot so I was compelled to try them on even though they are a bit brighter than what I usually choose. They give me excellent support yet feel as light as air. I need a wide toe box, but many shoes that are wide then slip on my heels. The Salomon shoe provides plenty of room for my toes with no slipping in the heel. I have a medium/high arch, am wide in the toe area and a high instep. The lacing system allows me to mold the shoe to my foot. I have used these shoes for 10 months on moderately rugged trails and paved trails. I am purchasing my second pair. I highly recommend this shoe.

Great trail shoe: great traction, not too cushy, really great high arch support, and a secure, narrow heel. My only complaint is that the toe box is really wide. I've always needed a wide toe box and good arch support for my high arches, but this shoe takes it to the extreme. If you have a narrow foot I would look elsewhere for a trail shoe.
