Asics Cumulus 10: To me ...

By JC Review PART TWO

from Undisclosed

Comments about Mens Under Armour Apparition Running Shoe:

Asics Cumulus 10: To me the Asics Cumulus feels much less substantial, almost like a flip-flop sandal. Also, the heel seems much lower in the Asics Cumulus, which may be an issue if you have Achillies tendon issues.
Nike Vomereo+ 4: The Nike Vomereo+ 4 is much softer and bouncier, almost like a trampoline. While I enjoy this shoe for a recovery run, I think it is too squishy and doesn't really provide the cushioning needed since it bottoms out.
Of theses shoes, I'm surprised that I think I like the Under Armour best. For the record, I'm 6'2", 175lbs, and considered a high-mileage runner.

Comments about Mens Under Armour Apparition Running Shoe:

One of the running magazines did an article regarding the runner's weight versus a cushion shoe. If the runner is heavier than the shoe is designed for, then the cushioning goes squash and doesn't do its job. If the runner is lighter than the cushioning is designed for, the runner doesn't get the benefit of the cushioning. Makes sense.
At 175lbs, the chart indicated that this was the best shoe for me. However, I was hesitant given the kinda mixed reviews here, but I figured what the heck, given RRS return policy.
Here's my report: this shoe is amazing and may turn into my all time favorite. Plush ride with just the right amount of cushioning and support. Felt good out of the box and even better after some runs.
Here's how it compares to other shoes in my rotation:
Mizuno Wave Creation: very similar but the Wave Creation feels heavier, less flexible and "clunkier."
Asics Cumulus 10: To me the Asics Cumulus feels much less substantial, almost like a flip-flop sanda

This show is amazing. I have a back problem that has until now eliminated running for me. I actually ran two 5K races in a four day span and felt fine! This is amazing. They are so comfortable that you do not realise you have shoes on when you are running. Awesome product!

Comments about Mens Under Armour Apparition Running Shoe:

Pros: Lightweight, good cushioning, good length, felt like the shoes helped propel me forward, footsleeve a good idea
Cons: Not a roomy toe box as some have reviewed, long term shoe debatable.
The footsleeve took about 2 minutes to get used to while walking around. Once you start running, you don't even notice. I like these shoes so far. They provide good cushioning but not much stability so buy the Revenant for stability. I have concerns with the long term performance simply because Under Armour is new to the running shoe world. The shoes feel like they propel you forward on impact. I like that feature along with the footsleeve. It keeps your foot firmly in the shoe.
I didn't find the toe box to be roomy as some have stated but it seemed just right to me.
Overall, the shoe is a winner. Long term use will be the deciding factor. I'm 6'4" & 200 lbs so we'll see how well the soles stand up to the pounding.

Comments about Mens Under Armour Apparition Running Shoe:

The arch support is odd, it seems to run all the way to the outside of the shoe. Very uncomfortable for me. Fits much like an Adidas, nothing like the Nike, Asics or Saucony that I have liked in the past.

Comments about Mens Under Armour Apparition Running Shoe:

Shoe feels soft at first touch but I have learned soft doesn't mean the shoe is comfortable. It lacking proper placement of support. Feels like arch support is just to close to heel which creates a awkward heel to toe off that really puts the stress of impact onto lower legs. I had to stop about 1.5 miles into first run because arches and calves were crapping so bad. Tried the shoe on 3 more runs with the same problems. I am 6?1 and 215 and this shoe simply does not provide the proper cushioning and support placement is a killer. I am going back to Asics! Hope this helps

Comments about Mens Under Armour Apparition Running Shoe:

I have nothing but problems fitting my high arches and wide foot. I have tried over 7 different shoes over the past 2 years and nothing has given me the proper support. These shoes fit my arches perfectly, they are the most comfortable shoes yet. I put them on and ran 4.5 miles right out of the box and my arches and calves have never felt better. They fit great.

Comments about Mens Under Armour Apparition Running Shoe:

I've been on ASICS Cumulus for many generations. I thought the -10s were just wrong. I was getting knee pain from the start with them, so I tried the Apparitions for a replacement. At first the arch seemed a little off; it went all the way across the foot bed. I stuck with them for four, five mile runs and was very pleased with the way the arch broke in. The shoes have a great toe box with plenty of room. So if you like a neutral shoe with a wide toe box this is a great shoe. It takes a few runs for the foot bed to settle in, but when it does they feel like what I imagine a custom foot bed feel like. Best of all, no more knee pain!

Comments about Mens Under Armour Apparition Running Shoe:

I tried these on in the store and I have to agree with the previous reviews. This show just feels wrong. The arch support is in the wrong place and feels very uncomfortable. They really dropped the ball on this one. On a side note, I also tried on the Illusion model shoe by under armour, and that shoe felt like a real winner. Once I get a few runs in with that shoe, I will give a full review.
