Comments about Womens VIVOBAREFOOT Neo Trail Trail Running Shoe: Ok so I do love this shoe, it has great traction and it's pretty rugged. Also it's waterproof until the water hits the tongue if it gets up to the tongue its getting in your shoe but that's to be expected in a trail shoe. The waterproof part made me a little worried. I was worried that when water inevitably got in it couldn't get out but that wasn't a problem at all. Even running through streams they were comfortable the whole time. I love the wide toe box and arch area it really gives you feet the chance to spread out instead of conforming to the shoe. There is no arch support which I also love because I don't have an arch. They feel comfortable for wide feet and fallen arches so it feels perfect to me. Here is the downside, as with any minimal shoe there isn't much protection from the rocks below your feet and though that isn't a problem on a carriage road or even moderately rocky single track where you can avoid them when you come across a part of the trail where you are going to land on some bigger "fist sized" or even a bit smaller rocks they can really bang up the soles of your feet. That couple of cm of EVA foam in a normal shoe really does allot to adsorb that. So if you're going to be running on a rocky trail you need to be careful of your foot placement and dexterous with your feet or you will have some bruises on your soles the next day. That being said I love these things. I have worn them on 5 – 10 mile trail runs a tough 8 mile hike and I even started to wear them to work, they look good with jeans. I would say these or the Bretho Trail, which are the same thing only not waterproof and more breathable are a good buy.
