I heard very good things about these shoes and the KSOs. I decided that since I needed new running shoes, I would go with the style designed more for running first. They are the best running shoes I have ever owned. They are the best shoes I've ever had period. All my running pains are gone. My feet are stronger than ever, and I will never go back to regular running shoes.
I am training both on and off road long distance, 18 +. I run from nice and flat manicured trail/paths, to trails deep into the wood and so crazy they are at times almost a 90 degree angle. And roads from completely flat, to hill workouts. I never have a problem getting a grip on the terrain. They are fast, light, tough, and breathable. I love the rubber tips on the toes. I misjudged my footing and rammed my toes into a huge root, but it didn't hurt at all. Sometimes little sticks and flower buds get caught in between the toes because of the rubber to protect the toes. Sometimes you can just spread your toes while running, other times you have to stop and pull it out. All in all, a excellent shoe.
Oh and start off slow!! Take it easy no matter what your body says. Land on the ball of your foot, and gently! GO SLOW!!
Barefoot Running At Its Best
I use the Vibram FiveFingers shoes to strengthen my feet and improve my running form. I've been training my feet to wear the shoes and I've noticed that my form has gotten much better, I can run faster with less effort, and my runs feel more "natural". I was worried that the soles of my feet would hurt, but this isn't the case - these shoes really do mimic barefoot running while protecting your feet from the road. The one thing that I had a problem with was adjusting my pinky toes to the shoes - it is very difficult sneak that last toe into its sleeve and make it comfortably stay there for a whole run. Eventually, your toe adjusts and gets used to it. Overall, though, I love these shoes!
Love this shoe!
I love this shoe and my running time/endurance has increased with wear. These types of shoes may not be for everyone and look odd, but if you love running barefoot this is your shoe. My previous running shoe was Saucony Grid Stabil CS, a very orthopedic stability control shoe and it took some time to adjust to a Vibram shoe with no stability. I was running up to 10k every other week and to convert to a shoe with no motion control, I started by running 1 block walking another until I adjusted to the new running style. It was worth taking the time to adjust to this shoe, my distance running feels more comfortable, natural and liberating. This shoe is not water resistant and very breathable, do purchase Injinji socks with these shoes to wear in cooler temperatures. I live in Oregon where it rains a lot, so I had to choose my raining times according to weather conditions. I didn't give these 5 stars since they are not water resistant, but for anyone in a drier climate than Oregon 5 stars for sure.
I believe for most people these probably fit "True to size" based on Vibram's sizing guide. However, my measurement lead me to a 42 size which wound up being too big..I had to exchange for a 41. No big deal. Otherwise these shoes have been great, very comfortable, bright colors, so far very durable. They really aren't THAT hard to get on your feet..it's not brain surgery. The first 2 or 3 times it took a little finagling but after that they slip on pretty easily. My biggest concern is that they look really goofy and I don't like wearing them in public, LOL. But worth it because they are SO comfortable and helped alleviate my chronic ankle pain from years of running on padded shoes.
Amazing Running Shoes
I am new to barefoot running and thought with high arches that barefoot running wouldn't be for me, but I was pleasantly surprised that these shoes are more comfortable than any running shoes I have ever owned. I am taking the mileage light to build myself up but so far I have had no problems or discomfort whatsoever! I love these shoes and would wear them all the time if they didn't look so crazy.

A miracle for my back
Pros: Aids in a more healthy running stride which has really decreased my lower back and hip pain. Extremely lightweight and breathable.
Cons: Tight on the tops of my feet, wish the lip met my foot higher up.
My biggest recommendation is to ease into your five fingers, if you are used to a running shoe, the lack of support can cause tendonitis after a simple 3 mile jog.
I really like this shoe, it's lightweight and comfortable. The only thing is if you have fat feet like I do, this shoe may not be for you because it's really tight across the top of your foot. Other than that it's a great shoe. I wish this site sold komodo's. Those are excellent for fat feet.
I'm on my 2nd pair of the Bikilas, and I've been running in them for a year now. I've had patellofemoral syndrome in both knees for 15 years, which has disappeared since I started running in these shoes. I haven't gone more than 10 miles in them - I use my Sauconys for long runs, but these are great for the weekday runs.
Very comfortable. Love wearing them
I am using the Vibrams for walking only. Probably will never run in them...but who knows? Love them for walking though
