great on snow!

Living in MN this is a must have! I just got these a couple of weeks ago and they have definitely paid off already with all the snow we have gotten. You can barely tell you are wearing them. I feel much safer wearing them; not worrying about slipping or falling.

Runner in Ohio

4

I live in the rural area of Northeast Ohio (the snow belt) and I needed something to help me with the traction on the snow. I love them so far, have only used them a couple of times due to the bad weather and the snow advisory out here. Can't wait to get out there and use them some more, my chocolate lab thanks you because if I didn't buy these, then we wouldn't be running in this bad weather

Great for running in the snow!

4

I wear these to run on snow-packed trails. They provide great traction and grip. I would have given them 5 stars except that you feel them pulling on your toes a little bit, but I don't think there is any way around that. I bought a size small because I wear a size 8 running shoe and smalls fit up to size 10. Except for the toe issue, you forget you have them on. I will happily put up with a little discomfort to be able to run on snow and not worry about slipping.

Best Christmas present I received

5

The week I began marathon training, we had 6 inches of snow. I was afraid the snow would force me indoors on the treadmill, but not the case. I ran normally(same pace even!) with these on my shoes! Awesome product, getting ready to buy for my husband.

Love Them

5

I live in North Dakota and we get our share of ice and snow. The roads and trails can be a bit tough to run on in the winter, but I prefer to run outdoors. I fell in love with this product the moment I put them on my feet. I highly recommend them.

[...] They are great for walking my dog. Very good traction and easy to use. Haven't tried running with them yet. Weather in SW PA has been uncommonly snowy the last 2 years!! Glad I have my yaktraks!!

Great on ice!!!

Used during "Great Ice Storm of 2011", and carried during a February attack on Grand Canyon. Not enough snow or ice to put on, but small and lightweight so I was glad I had them...

I wear a size 13 regular width running shoe. So I bought these in a large, as per the manufacturer's directions. They were very hard to get on the shoes and they crimped up the front of the shoes so badly that they caused the front of the shoe to curl up and made the feeling in my forefoot very uncomfortable. I called up the manufacturer and they suggested that I buy the extra large. As RRS did not have an extra large, I bought them through another retailer. But the identical problem occurred. I tried them on with two other sets of my running shoes: same problem. I'm even concerned that they could ruin my shoes. They?re going back to the retailer ASAP.

Great Assessory

After running in snow and ice for years, I finally broke down and tried these in snow/ice conditions. Great product; should have been using these for years! Better late than never.

5

I love these too, and have tried "ice grippers" and the like. Still rate them a "5" and have used them for years, but: a) based on earlier reviews, I called the company because of my rubber "x" breakage and steel coils unraveling, and hinted at a free replacement, but to no avail! ("90-day warranty", he said - I've had these for 2 winters); and b) even if they're brand new, if you hit a patch of ice you may be a goner anyway. Great to increase confidence running all winter long (Vermont), but icy danger still lurks, despite the power of the Yak...

Absolutely love them! Can't believe that I ever ran on ice/snow without them. Training for Boston just became dramatically easier. I wear a woman's 8.5 and the smalls fit perfectly. Never have any trouble with them coming off. One of the black x's did break on the bottom, but the company replaced them without any trouble. I ran 20 miles in them one morning and completely forgot that I even had them on. It sure does feel good to be out before the plows and show them where to go!

Feel great- Break quickly on dry surface

4

Felt great immediately when I put them on. Great confidence on ice or packed snow. Couldn't tell they were there. Definitely high performance for fast running. Unfortunately both feet had the outside strap fail after 12-14 miles of running. The paved trail had a mix of ice, snow and clear pavement. The straps seem to wear down VERY quickly on the dry pavement. I'm debating getting another pair (expensive for single use!), but might try insertable spikes instead.

Works great on all-ice terrain

4

These work great when your route is completely covered in ice or snow. Not much will give you solid traction in pure snow, but these really help, and on the ice, they are amazing. The problem that I've encountered is that my route is often not entirely covered in ice/snow thanks to plows, so I spend some time crunching the trax on solid ground, which can't be good for their life expectancy.

Useful but difficult to keep on my foot

4

I've bought four pair over the last three years. They never last for a full winter season. I have no issues walking the dog as they really do make a different on ice. However, for me, they will not stay on my feet when I race. During my last 8K, I had to stop three times to put them back on. My daughter, who is much lighter and faster, loves the pair I bought for her and she has no such issues.

They have great traction ability and I do love them for that. I am on my third pair that have been replaced by the manufacturer due to the rubber "x" breaking and the steel coils unraveling. They have been great about replacing them-so I keep sending them back! Great concept, durability needs to be addressed.

Just got mine in the mail and took them out this morning. Awesome grip, and with the light snow cover I almost forgot I was wearing them. They are a little loud on crunchy ice, but the stability is amazing. Must have fow winter runners. I wish I had these back in Minnesota just to get to the bus.

They do not last.

2

You've got rubber straps enclosed in metal coils. What do you think is going to happen? Correct, the coils eat through the rubber and quite quickly. They're good while they last - but they dont last long.
