Comments about Mens Zoot Ultra Tempo 5.0 Running Shoe: I raced in the Ultra Tempo 4.0s in 2011 and really loved them. I purchased these 5.0s at the beginning of race season in 2012 expecting more of the same results. The 5.0s are very different in feel and design from the 4.0s. They maintained the comfort and reliability, but I wasn't real excited that they switched the rear pull tab on 5.0 to a more conventional look over the raised back of the 4.0. I'm pretty sure they did this to try and eliminate some of the rub issues the 4.0s had. However, just like with the 4.0s I got some sever achillis tendon rubbing the first few runs without socks. But once I got them broke in, I didn't have any more problems with this issue. As far as feel, they seem to be a little more snug, especially in the toebox, over the previous model. This really didn't bother me. In fact I felt it was an improvement and felt more compact. Even with this change I feel that they are just as comfortable as the 4.0s were. The drainage of these were right on par with the 4.0 and kept my feet cool and fairly dry even in hot and humid conditions. I ran races from Sprint distance to Ironman in these shoes and they performed flawlessly. I had put roughly 400 miles on the between training and races and they wore evenly and held together nicely. I have since retired them and am hopeful that Zoot will release and even better model for the 6.0.

Comments about Mens Zoot Ultra Tempo 5.0 Running Shoe: Love the Ultra Kanes and tried to lighten-up my racing with these, but their cut isn't very comfortable. I blister up front where the mesh meets the sole and the fabric in the back rubs my achilles raw. Great for Olympic distance tris, but no further.
