What’s great about this new release is that New Balance devoted just as much time to the upper and fit as they did to developing the big cushion stack (thanks, New Balance!). This shoe has a number of really cool design features – let’s dive in:

Max cushion shoes are often called on to go long distances. But some runners find that max shoes don’t always offer the comfort necessary to spend hours in the shoe. That’s where the Fresh Foam More comes in.

Not only does this shoe offer the aforementioned supportive cushion, the toebox is soft and spacious – another bonus for endurance athletes (and all runners!). Distance tends to make feet flatten out and friction areas are magnified the longer you run. This Fresh Foam More upper is well-thought-out to keep you comfortable and blister-free.

My favorite part of the New Balance Fresh Foam More is the upper. Made of soft breathable mesh, New Balance added a partial midfoot bootie to lock the foot down. Molded pods line the sides and heel to keep the foot from sliding. Tongue wings work through the midfoot to help keep the tongue from working its way left or right (so annoying when that happens!). Premium quality all-round.

The Fresh Foam fits true to size and will also be offered in wide 2E and 4E sizes.

Showcasing the biggest, boldest Fresh Foam sole yet, this insanely cushioned shoe gives you the ultimate in high level running comfort. While the Fresh Foam More is plenty cushioned, I thought it would feel more mushy. I was pleasantly surprised to find it more responsive than I’d imagined. It feels soft but not overly soft.

The sidewalls extend higher up the shoe than you actually ride. This gives a nice “bucket seat” feel which adds to the secure fit. Laser etching has removed material from the midsole to decrease weight and increase bounce back – you can see the pinhole pattern on the lateral sides. Given the ample cushion stack, this shoe is surprisingly light.

New Balance combines ultra-cushioned feel with a lower offset for a natural running experience. The Fresh Foam More is a 4mm drop so your heel is only 4mm higher than your forefoot, again contributing to a sure-footed natural run experience. The Fresh Foam cushion underfoot consists of one single, continuous piece of foam.

As mentioned above, the Fresh Foam More is suited for your highest mileage pursuits but also works well for newbies, everyday training, recovery runs, and all-day wear thanks to subdued stylings. This is a neutral shoe typically good for medium-to-high arches that don’t require pronation control.
