New home for Zoom Elite runners

Me: 150 lb, 44 y.o., 25-40 mi/wk, 6.5-7.25 min/mi I was a devoted fan of Nike Air Zoom Elite and ran in them since their inception over a decade ago. Nike replaced them with the Lunar Elite, which is NOTHING like the Zoom elite. In fact, I wear a size 9 lunar and a 9.5 zoom, yet both shoes are the exact same length, yet shaped differently. I realized I'm not alone as the internet is filled with angry ex-zoomers looking for a new home. Where most manufacturers are expanding the toe box (far too much for my liking), the Saucony Guide 4 is snug and supportive, like the Zoom Elite was, and has excellent mid foot support. It's a perfect shoe for high milage efficient runners who want a fast trainer. The shoe could be lightened by reducing the size of the forefoot cushion without affecting performance, but it's still a good shoe for serious runners.

Excellent Running Shoe

The Suacony ProGrid Guide is a superb shoe. I bought my first Guide 3 about three years ago and put a few hundred miles on while training for my first marathon. Soon after I bought the Guide 4, and it was just as good. I fell in love with the Guide because it was comfortable and fairly quick. Most importantly however, is that I didn't have a single running related injury since wearing this shoe (no knee pain, no blisters - two injuries I was prone to with all my past shoes). I have been using the Saucony Guide for a few years now and still have no complaints. I decided the least I could do was write a review. I've finally found my perfect shoe, so I will continue to buy this shoe because for me, I'm not looking for anything else in a shoe - simply perfect. I'm 5'11", ~190lbs, moderate pronation, typically run 5-8 miles/weekday and about 14-26 miles/day on weekends. Since I run daily, I use two pairs and rotate them - they seem to last me about 600 miles each.

Great Shoes

This is a good pair of shoes that fits in perfectly with the Saucony Guide Series. It is my first pair of Guide 4 after going through many pairs of both Guide 3 and Guide 2. I don't see or feel much change from the Guide 3 but I consider that a good thing as I thought the Guide 3 was a great shoe.

Lightweight Omni

If you like Progrid Omnis, you'll like these. Fit and comfort are similar, but these feel lighter and faster.

This is my shoe!

I currently have three pairs of the Guide in my closet. Two pairs are the "4" and I still have a pair of "3's" that I wear around but don't run in any more. I am 6' 160 lbs and run mainly half-marathons and marathons. I love the narrow heel and light weight as an everyday trainer. The toebox is not so big that it feels sloppy to me, like the Mizuno Wave Inspire does. If I wore anything else, it would be the Triumph because of slightly more cushioning.

Love the shoe

I will wear shoe in races. Comfortable, fits well. A little stiff in the mid foot.

Great shoe

I am usually a size 12 and ordered these in a 12. I had to return and ordered the 12.5. Once I went up a half size, they were perfect. Great shoe to run in. Lighter than I thought they would be and no knee pain! I'm buying a second pair while on sale.

Great out of the box

Great right out of the box. Ran 6 miles @8:25 pace with them on my first run with them. Lighter than I thought. You can see right thru them. The sizing is right dead on.

Fast Shoes!

I've had them for two weeks into the new season and have taken them out for 5-6 runs. So far, the knee pain I had in past years has not returned. Great feeling!
