I run 20-25 miles per week and train mainly for 5 and 10K. I didn't get serious about running until a couple of years ago. I pushed myself too hard and developed tendinitis in my ankles/feet. First the left foot then the right. Then last year I bought the Hurricane 12's and was able to keep running while my ankles slowly stopped hurting. This year when purchasing a replacement pair I flirted with the Wave Nirvana's and Kayano's. They both felt more comfortable walking around but I started developing that familiar ankle ache after running in each for a week. So I went back and got me the Hurricane 13's. They're great. I don't think I'm ever going to bother trying another shoe again. I was hoping to find a "faster" and lighter shoe with more road feel this time around. And the Nirvana's especially fit the bill in those departments. But my ankles did not like them. The Hurricane 13's are great if you are injury prone and need a nice stable and cushioned ride. They can feel a bit clunky during speed workouts but whatever. I've seen some complaints that they are narrow and feel like a half size smaller than expected. I don't know about that. I don't have an especially wide foot and my foot fits in them fine. I do admit they did feel a bit snug in the width the first time I put them on but I just chalked that up to being used to my 12's which are worn out with probably close to 1000 miles on them. In any event, I actually prefer a snug fit but there is still ample room in the toe box. The Nivana's had a lot more room in the toe box, which felt great, until I started actually running. I think my ankles and calves had to work a lot harder to keep my feet striking properly due to that lack of snugness and overall less stable-ness of the shoe. I've only worn the 13's for a week but I can tell already that they're at least as good or better than the 12's. I think the Hurricane's can encourage heel striking since they are so comfortable so I'd recommend consciously trying to stay on your forefoot/midfoot. If you are a flat footed runner that needs a stable shoe and prefer a softer ride these are your shoe.
