Comments about Womens Nike Air Zoom Structure 19 Flash Running Shoe:

I ordered these shoes because I am an older woman (63 that is in pretty good shape and walks 6 or 7 miles daily) and have had problems with shoes not being comfortable on my feet when I take my long walks. The most comfortable shoes that I have had so far were the Nike Free shoes(the flyknit ones were the ones I have been using for summer wear) because I could walk long distances in them and they never rubbed blisters or felt uncomfortable on my feet and just felt wonderfully comfortable due to how lightweight they were and their flexibility. I wanted something warmer and more substantial for winter wear because we do get some snow and ice in the winter and also because the Greenway Trail where I frequently walk is in a flood zone and I often have to walk through water, which is fine in the summer if my shoes get wet because the weather is not cold, but in the winter I need warmer shoes that are more waterproof. I got these because they said water-repellent, which I learned today while walking through puddles is not the same as waterproof because water seeped into my shoes. However, I will keep them anyway because they are very comfortable and light, not as light as the Nike Free, but still lightweight enough to be very comfortable and they also did not rub any blisters or hurt my feet as many heavier shoes do during long walks. I will still need to look for some waterproof shoes as the weather gets cold though. I have some Salomon shoes that have Gore-Tex and are also waterproof and come up just above my ankle, but after a while one of the shoes hits my ankle in the wrong spot and the inner aspect of my left ankle starts to hurt so for long distances they do not work for me and they are also heavier and make my walks not as pleasant. Lightweight shoes really do spoil you, or at least I have found that to be true. After wearing them I just love the feel of them on my feet and find it hard to tolerate heavier shoes as well. I also like the lower heeled shoes and find them more comfortable than shoes with higher heels. For comfort, the Nike 19 Flash shoes are great so far (wore them on a 7 mile walk today for the first time since ordering them), but after walking through a puddle and finding that water-repellent does not mean waterproof, then I don't think they will be very warm winter shoes. They offer good support, not quite as flexible as the Nike Free, but still good and feel very comfortable on my feet, so I will keep them and wear them on not quite as cold winter days. For snow and ice days will probably need another shoe. For runners not going through lots of water in the winter they might work ok because running probably heats up the body more than walking and you might not need a shoe that is too warm, I guess a long distance runner could give more info about that.
