The New Balance Fresh Foam 1080v6 was my attempt at finding a quality cushion shoe in a size narrow. Its high ratings as a cushion shoe peeked my interest and after ordering the 10.5 regular width I found myself returning them for the size 10 in a 2A. My feet are narrow but my challenge with this shoe was the shoe length and or size of the toe box. The 2A was exactly what I needed for a secure fit around my heel and arch however after Iong periods of wearing the 1080v6 I began experiencing pain in my big toes. I love RRS because I was able to put the shoes back in the box and return them. I currently run in the Nike Vomero size 10.5 which provides a more roomy toe box plus cushion, however they run wide on me. Overall I did love the 1080v6 but not a huge fan of the size of the toe box at least in the 2A. Excellent cushion shoe, feels light, and provides arch support! I received lots of compliments on the light blue color.

Not happy with these
I keep 3 pairs of shoes in a rotation since I run almost every day. I noticed that after five miles with these the bottom of my feet were hurting. Doesn't happen with my Brooks Glycerin or Saucony ISOs. A couple days ago I took a different route where there are the little bumps on the sidewalk whenever the sidewalk meets the road (as the sidewalk goes down to meet the road). In these shoes I can feel those bumps. Took my Glycerins 14s on the same route and I can't feel those bumps at all. I thought I might keep these for runs < 5 miles but I also realized that these are causing me ankle pain. They only have 150 miles on them and my Brooks have close to 300... so they obviously don't last. I don't think I will run in these any more. Going to try Glycerin 15s. Sadly, it has been more than 3 months since I bought these so can't return them.

A must if you need ball of foot comfort
I have tried New Balance, Asics Gel, Nike & Brooks brands looking for a running/training shoe that relieves my recent metatarsal/ball of foot discomfort. Doctor said I need a "neutral" shoe with optimal cushioning at ball of foot, suitable for orthotics. I have a narrow foot & prefer a wide toe box with some wiggle room for toes but a close fit in the balance of the shoe. The New Balance fresh foam 1080V6 Narrow is perfect on ALL counts. It is very cushioned & I've been able to ditch the metatarsal pads and orthotics for everyday & reserve those for high impact activity. A keeper plus bought a second pair! Wish they made black or dark grey.

I have been an Asics Nimbus addict for over ten years and was very nervous about trying a different branded shoe but I am SO pleased on multiple levels. I am seasoned but not competitive runner (5K, 10K, Half and Full Marathons in last ten years). Nice wide toe box, stretchy mesh shoe with soft cushion ride. Very responsive. Have issues with sore feet, flirting with plantar fasciiatis so these are a GREAT shoe for me. Chose them for the cushioning and they have proven helpful already with less than ten miles on them. Not looking back!
VERY WIDE SHOES
1080v6 is a very wide model. My medium wide v6 is wider than my wide NB Boracay. It has enough cushion and well made but very stiff because has more arch support than other. This shoes may be good for someone looking for stability. I am returning mine.
Over 29 years of my running, I wore NB more than others and had a blind faith until the very sad day that NB introduced 1080v4. I could not believe how it was so different from v3. I read a good review on v5 but did not have my size and ordered v6. I still think v3 was the best.

I have been running in the original Hoka Clifton but was searching for something with a wider toe box but still a good amount of cushioning. The toe box on this shoe is roomy and I feel like my toes can splay without restriction. It is cushioned, but responsive. The stretchy shoelaces are wonderful and I wish I had them on all of my shoes. I wear a 7.5 street shoe, a 7.5 in the Clifton, and an 8 in all my Altras. I ordered an 8 in this shoe and it was a good fit, if not a tiny bit roomy. I probably could have ordered the 7.5 and been okay too. I see myself ordering another pair of these soon.
Fantastic for providing cushion w/o excess bounce. Also a plus: a more modest heel-to-toe rise slant compared to many other cushioned women's shoes that shift too much weight onto the ball of the foot leading to metatarsal pain. (I don't want a running shoe that feels like a high heel!) The mesh upper is airy and provides more stretch, useful to accommodate high arches and an arch/metatarsal insole. The wide size (D) is nice and roomy. My last shoe in another brand was "wide" but felt more like a regular. And thanks to NB for color choices in wide sizes besides heat-conducting black.

I wear a size 8W in the Nike Vomero's. They fit great, but not as flexible as I would like. Both the Vomeros and the 1080v6 note to size up 1/2 size, so it would make sense I would be an 8 in both models. However after a few miles, the curve that starts right where your toes are really hits those toes and they're very squished. Not sure why they think you have wide feet, but your toes are laid out narrow? Am returning for the next size up (8.5W)! Fingers crossed, because I find them not only very cushioned, but responsive as well!
I love this shoe!
I'm a race walker, not a runner (knee problems). I wear a AA shoe, have a high arch, and have had 3 foot surgeries. I need a roomy toe box and at least a medium toe box height, and I typically need a shoe with a combination last for street wear. I love this shoe! New Balance fits better in the heel than any other brand I've tried. Although some people will insist you can adjust the heel by lacing technique, that has never prevented heel slippage for me, and causes arch and forefoot problems as a result. The cushioning in this shoe is great, comfortable for long distances, and the heel does not slip. The toe box is roomy, with no pressure on the toes. I typically take a full size longer in running shoes than street shoes, and that was perfect for this shoe. Highly recommend.
I really wish I bought another pair! They're awesome!
These shoes fit like a glove and provide an excellent amount of support, cushioning and overall feel like I am running on a cloud! I used to wear Asics, and I thought they were great but then I tried these and they are phenomenal. I would recommend these to anyone, but particularly anyone who needs that extra comfort and support. I have hip/sciatica pain, occasional knee pain and I am extremely flat-footed so finding a shoe that can not only accommodate me with walking, but running as well is a good shoe in my book!
Also, I would highly recommend Road Runner Sports Company because they have excellent customer service, shipping was free for standard 5-7 days and I got it in two, with up-to-date emails letting me know my shoes were on the way etc.
Missing my v5s
I've been wearing the New Balance 1080 series since at least version three, but I still haven't gotten used to this update. The shoes feel much stiffer and less comfortable than my previous ones, even after several runs. They also seem to run slightly larger than the prior version.
Totally wrong size mailed, returned at store, sneakers OK
I ordered these via mail, and a totally different size and width were sent to me. When I called, I was told they had no more of that size. So did they send the wrong size on purpose or was it a mistake??? I opted to return them at the store where I tried on a slightly different size, that worked great. These shoes fit different than my prior Brooks shoes. In any case, the store did a return and new sale, so at first, they charged me more than the mail order price. When I complained and asked to be reimbursed, they did so nicely. Ran a few miles with them today. Seem to be OK, just not as cushioned as the Brooks.
LOVE these shoes !! Worth a try
LOVE these shoes, have never really been a New balance fan, always ran in asics, nimbus 9 1/2 regular width for many years my foot meaures 8 1/2 These are really lite, wide is perfect (not too wide) does not put pressure on my bunion. Nice transition heel to toe. Feel very stable as I tend to pronate, I am a bit of a heavy runner. Flexible feel. Fits well in heel. I wear medium weight sock either Balega or lighter feetures sock. Bought a pair for work as well , on my feet 12 hours plus, really working out well for me. Worth a try. Can't beat the 90 day wear them or return them if your not happy.
WOOHOO! Finally some arch support!
So ecstatic! I've been searching for arch support for 15+ years, to no avail until now. I've been transferring insoles from a VERY old pair of Saucony's to every pair of running shoes I purchase. I no longer need to do that!
Only drawback is that they felt a little too snug for a while. But after adjusting and readjusting the laces and breaking them in, that's not an issue anymore!
Blue/White 1080 more like PURPLE/white!!
Love these shoes! My only complaint is that the blue/white is NOT blue it is very much PURPLE. I was so excited to get a "normal" color in a women's shoe, but sadly it is not normal.
Pretty colors and comfy shoes!
Perfect cushy shoes for my midweek runs. I tried wearing them in a half marathon and something hurtthe side of my foot. It was very downhill, however,so that could've been part of the problem. They've never had hurt me any other time. They are wide enough in the toebox and feel great in the upper as well. I always get lots of compliments on how cute the shoes are!
Good all-around gym and walking shoe
Bought on the New Balance folks' recommendation as a replacement for my 870v4 workout shoes that no longer are available. So far they are supportive and good for walking and gym work. Roomy toe box, too. Litmus test: they don't slip when I'm planking or doing push ups. Insole could be more padded so I'll probably remove them and slip in a pair of Superfeet insoles.
I would not buy the v6.
I've been running for 27 years, always in New Balance, except for a failed try with Nike. I've been wearing the 1080 series for a few years. Something is wrong with this v6 version. They Inserted a huge piece of foam in the bottom. They are not the comfortable running shoes I'm accustomed to. I will have to find a different model.
New Balance messed with a good thing
I've been a big fan of the 1080 for the last few versions. I bought 4 pairs of the 1080v5, which had to be my favorite running shoe ever. The "fresh foam" 1080v6 is an AWFUL upgrade. The arch is absurdly high, the foam is less comfort, more squishy, and now my knees have started to hurt after running.
Not for me:(
Loved the color but sadly these were not the shoe
for me. I wear a neutral 5 cushion but these were
very hard and there was no bounce..i wear the asics nimbus
which i love just wantwd to try something different
but now i know Asics are the shies for me and my loooong runs
I strongly recommend this.
This is definitely updated version of previous fresh form. I feels cushion of these shoes is more stable still kept with comfort compared to old fresh form. However, above all things, its design and detail are my favorite parts.
Fit changed with newer version 1080.
This shoe does not fit as well as previous versions. I have worn 1080s for a number of years and have been happy with them. This V6 has a shallower toe box which makes it feel too narrow. I returned these.
This is my second pair, I hope they don't discontinue them!
These shoes fit like a glove and are very supportive! I love the color and the fit. Can't find anything wrong with them, a real winner!!!!!!!!!
I ORDERED 1/2 SIZE LARGER, LIKE YOU SAID TO DO, AND THEY WERE TOO BIG! I HAVE TO WEAR 2 PAIRS OF SOCKS TO BE ABLE TO WALK IN THEM. (:
Great NB shoe
Great cushion and support for walking and jogging. Very light weight shoe but sturdy. I will definitely purchase this NB shoe again.
These shoes are very comfortable and I get a lot of compliments. They are true to size and the wide width is perfect for me.
I plan to return them or they will be my walking shoes
I don't like the new soles. They are too hard. You don't get that new shoe spring even on the first run with them.
Pretty light and cushioned
The shoes are great fitting and much prettier in person than the pictures. I love the light and cushioned feel.
I would definitely buy another pair!
One of the best shoes I have run in! Great cushioning and lightweight, I would definitely buy another pair!
My daughter has run in these shoes for years. She runs many miles each week. Shoes work well.
