This is an early, first run review. I am a 53 year old, former Recon Marine. I used to be a small, lithely built runner. Now I am a middle aged, 230lbs cop, who in his mind is still that fleet footed Marine. Due to my extra bulk and age, I have struggled with numerous injuries over the last ten years. Three torn hamstrings(two on the left and one on the right), a torn quad, and issues with both feet. It should suffice to say that I am very judge mental about my equipment. I took these shoes on an hour long, muddy/ frozen ground, single track trail run. My first impression is very positive. They have great traction in or off the trail whether I was going up or down hill. They hugged my mid foot well but didn't make them feel squeezed. They are light and felt very responsive to varying terrain. I hope they continue to impress me. There is sufficient cushioning without it feeling like a marshmallow. Great flex in the fire foot and wide enough tie box for my double E width foot. I bought them a half a size up as advised, seems to be the correct advice. I plan on following up this review come spring time to see how they are holding up to the pounding my fullback's sized body abuse.
