Great overall, minus charging

Comments about Polar V800 GPS with Heart Rate Monitor Monitors:

Okay, so it's obvious there was a major flaw in the original charging design for this watch but Polar is obviously helping customers with the issue. Like many others that have reported issues charging, I use a large alligator clip while charging. Outside of the charging issue the watch has been a flawless workhorse. While it may not have a color LCD and fancy display options yet, it sets itself apart by being a SERIOUS sports watch. I own a Fenix 3 and while it's pretty and loaded with a lot of features, it can't hold a candle to the V800 when it comes to accuracy and consistency.

Bought this last May, very happy with it

Comments about Polar V800 GPS with Heart Rate Monitor Monitors:

I wanted a triathlon tracking watch that generated HR in the water (my weakest area, and I was trying to see if I was spiking HR, or something else, in the swim, thanks to Polar I now know it's not my HR causing issues, so not sure what it is). It tracks more accurately than anything I've used on GPS, iPhone, Android (Galaxy S5 and S7Edge, using Strata, and about 3 other run trackers (Strava seems least accurate, for reasons DCRainmaker has covered elsewhere). On most runs with validated distance markers, it's off by no more than 50ft per mile. Tight twisty mountain bike courses it drifts more (compared to a very accurately calibrated cyclocomputer), up to 20% on really tight "back/forth" switching courses like we have around Dallas, but it still reads longer (more accurately) in total on the watch than anything tracked by cell phone GPS from multiple models and apps. Initial features were "promised but not delivered" however they've now delivered on all those promises through updates, and are now extending the feature set! (Unheard of really in a 1+ year old product, adding GoPro features now has been announced). Problems are charging (horrible design as easily known via web commentary, the M400 is such an improvement), and that is really it. The soft heart rate strap is NOT good for swimming (they do have a hard shell strap available at significant cost and not user-replaceable battery, I used to have that on my F7) that supposedly does a much better job in water, but too much tradeoff. Otherwise, if they could come up with a suitable "push-off" compliant swimming strap, which is independent really of the V800 anyhow, that's the only other common complaint I've seen (and had myself).

Great after a month of training so far...

Comments about Polar V800 GPS with Heart Rate Monitor Monitors:

After a month of training with this watch I have been happy with it's performance in terms of pacing, heart rate monitoring, and GPS. It's a rugged watch that I wear almost 24/7. I've only had to charge it a couple of times in the month I've had it. The supporting software such as the polar flow website have been invaluable in terms of tracking recovery and my running index. I'm also happy with the strava integration. I have not had any issues with charging as other people have mentioned, though my watch is still pretty new. I try to keep the port dry, so I hope this prolongs the life of it for me. The polar flow iOS is a great way to sync data to the polar flow web service, but I think it is lacking in functionality itself. I only use it for syncing at the moment. The charging unity is a bit clunky, but I haven't had any issues with it. Overall it's been a great tool for me.
