Love these!Neuromas and a bunion sidelined me for a few weeks till it calmed down. I ordered these as it was zero drop but not a true minimal shoe that I know I can't wear.I wore them at work for about a week before I even ran in them as it was the only shoe my foot could tolerate. They come with two foot beds, one for stability and one for strengthening, for now Im using the stability one with a met pad in place and will hopefully transition to other one. My first run was 4 miles and felt that i could gone on more but wanted to see how I would feel the next day. Wowowow no soreness , no pain with running, didn't feel like I had to throw my shoes against the wall after the run.My forefoot/toes had plenty of room to spread out(different feeling than Brooks ghost)but my heel was snug enough so I didn't feel like I was swimming in the shoe. I do wear a wide shoe because of foot issues and these are really great.
They do feel a bit slow but I suppose it's really me as I'm transitioning and watching my form but I will sacrifice speed(for now) for comfy painfree running. They have some cushioning but not so much that you can't the ground beneath you. The zero drop has made a huge difference, I'm standing taller, relaxed foot and lower leg,and don't feel as though I'm running in high heels.Almost felt as though I was falling backwards at first. I did try to run in the ghosts after that as they say you should transition slowly but I couldn't do it,I felt my whole body shifting forward and once again running in heels and increased pain.!Time will tell how on how they hold up but I did buy another pair to rotate . Thankful I found these shoes , saved my feet, saved my running.

LOVE THEM SO FAR!!! FOLLOW SIZE GUIDE!!
I'm a distance runner with many chronic aches & pains. Knees are always an issue, but lately my feet and ankles have been bothering me. After reading about these shoes, I decided it couldn't hurt to try them. When I first received them I wore them all day for 3 days around the house and errands just to get used to how the foot plants. I used them for crossfit as well, and they are fabulous...I am very balanced and not tipping forward. My first run in them was a 1-mile timed run and I got my best time ever. Two days later I hit the road for a quick 3.5 miles. So far I absolutely love them and have had NONE of my normal aches and "tweaks". I do notice that my calves, and specifically lower calves, feel more worked. However, I have read that is just part of building up those muscles in these type of minimalist shoes. I am excited to see how I feel when I finally wear them for a 10-mile run. If you are considering switching from the standard running shoe, I would encourage you to go for it. Just make sure you follow the instructions and take it slow breaking into them. **IMPORTANT TO USE THEIR SIZING TOOL/GUIDE! I regularly wear a sz 10 and run in a 10.5. I followed their "whole size up" instructions and the size 11 in these shoes are perfect!**

Loving this shoe!
Over the past 2 years I've very gradually transitioned to minimalist shoes for walking and running, but continued to experience difficulty when running in true minimalist shoes on concrete and asphalt. For trails I run in Vivo Barefoot and they're great. But the hard roads were another story. I've tried several different brands, and it just wasn't working for me. Then I discovered the Altra. The Altra is lightweight and zero-drop, which I wanted to stick with, but in contrast to others has just the right amount of cushioning to soften the impact of the hard roads and sidewalks. I'm a 60-year-old marathoner, so age and other body-issues could be why I haven't been able to find success with other minimalist shoes. With the Altra, I still have all the room my toes need to flex during running, and the amount of cushioning is just right. For me, they're perfect, and I was able to run in them right from the start with no problems. The only caution--size UP a full size! I wear an 8-1/2 normally, and found I needed to go to a 9-1/2 in these, which surprised me, but worked. And did I mention I love the bright, sassy color?!
I am a natural forefoot striker and have been looking for a shoe with a wide toe box that would allow my toes to move freely. These shoes fit the bill. The anatomical shape is great. The shoes have a wide, roomy toe box, but fit snuggly in the heel. I have been using the structured insole and find it gives me adequate support. I haven't tried the strengthening insole. I normally wear a size 10 in running shoes, but I needed a 10.5 in these shoes. The literature that comes with the shoes says if they fit correctly they should feel like you are wearing slippers, and they do feel that way! I had no adjustment time for running, as I naturally run on my forefoot, but it did take a little while to get used to walking in them , with the zero drop feature. But once I got used to them they became my favorite shoes not only for running, but for lifting and gym workouts, as well. I haven't run long distances, or owned them long enough to comment on how well they wear. If you are looking for a stylish shoe, this is not the shoe for you, but if you want a comfortable, zero drop shoe that provides cushioning while allowing forefoot striking, these are the shoes for you.
Perfect shoe for me!
I bought my first pair 12/31/12, and have just ordered a 2nd pair. I found out about these from a friend who runs in the Altra Provisioness, but based on my high arch, I decided to try the Intuitions. The Intuitions are my first zero drops. Prior to the Intuitions, I had been plagued by feet problems since I started running again in May 2012 (I trained for and ran a marathon- so I was doing lots of mileage). After reading Born to Run, I decided to try a zero drop shoe. I have been running in my Altra Intuitions now for about 45 days (longest run of 13 miles) and have not had any feet issues. The wide toe box must be part of the reason that these work so well for me, but shoe is well constructed with a little cushioning. The fit is not big through the arch and heel. These come with 2 insoles, and I have been using the flatter ones (foot strengthening ones). I did ease into them, but the transition has been easy. I wear a size 7 in these, which is the same size I wore in other brand running shoes, but my everyday shoes are size 5.5-6, so definitely order them bigger than your everyday shoes. These are super cute shoes.
From couch to marathon
I have been running in neutral shoes with about a 8mm drop and decided to try the Altra zero drop. I had an injury that was around the IT Band area but is not the IT band itself and have been rehabbing on my own with weight training and stretching. However, I have found that my leg feels much better when I run in the Altra's rather than my other 8mm drop shoe. The cushioning is also great and it feels like you are running in your slippers. Regardless, the roomy forefront allows your toes to naturally stretch out and my leg muscles are able to really work. I also like that my calves are getting a workout as well. All of this strengthens my legs which will be beneficial in the healing process and in the next echelon of my training the ultra trail marathon. Finally, the shoe does run a half a size larger than your regular running shoe. I usually wear a 9 1/2 in running shoes and I am wearing a 10 in Altras...

I use these to run anywhere from 5-30 miles a week. I was having severe heel pain and decided to try something new. The zero drop made sense to me, but unlike a barefoot shoe, these actually have cushion! My heel pain is gone. The shoes are super comfy! I understand that where normal running shoes last for about 300+ miles, Altra's tend to last for about 500. I liked that, and they are pretty reasonably priced. I am excited to see more running stores carrying them. I will definitely buy another pair when these wear out!
Oh, I had read it was recommended to go a 1/2 size up on these. I ended up getting the same size I had in Brook's (although my Brooks are 1/2 size bigger than what I had been wearing in other brands of running shoes) and they fit great.
I've been running for quit a long time. Five years ago I had back surgery.....started running 6 weeks after to the surprise of many. I have a lot of nerve damage on my left side and it does influence how I run. I run about 30+ a week. I began having a lot of problems with my feet and hips (especially after a marathon). In desperation, I tried these. So far my longest run has been twelve miles. I was shocked that I didn't experience more discomfort as I adjusted to these. I have found my feet are much more comfortable. I haven't had these long enough to give my full opinion but so far am very pleased and look forward to continued improvement as I continue to adjust to a more minimalist shoe.
For years and years, I tried many different brands and styles of running shoe and found little difference in how they felt. My toes always felt cramped, no matter the size or width of the shoe, and even shoes that I bought at a specialty running store where they analyzed my feet, gait, etc. were not noticeably better. The Altra Intuitions changed everything. The combination of the wide toe box and zero drop platform makes the ideal running shoe for anyone with high arches and wide feet, and for the first time ever, my feet feel GOOD when I run. I've bought multiple pairs of these and I hope that Altra never stops making them.
great woman's shoe
I wear a neutral, wide running shoe. This zero drop shoe is narrower in the heel, but wide in the toe box. They suggest that you buy a 1/2 size up for a better fit, which I did. I had been running off and on with my Altera's and netural Brooks. When I put on my Altera's I feel much better. The leg feels lighter and more relaxed. I plan to get another pair. One for the treadmill and one for outside. An excellent shoe if you like the zero drop style. I heard an interview with their designer who has put a 1000 miles on his pair. He states because their is no cushioning you wear these until you get a hole.

Purchased these after a recommendation from a running coach. I was attracted to them because of the wide toe box that makes these one of the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned! Zero drop with a very nice cushioned mid foot making these easy to run short-medium distance with ease! I've taken these up to 6 miles with no problems. I also use a separate pair for crossfit because of the zero drop and love them for the cross training aspect! Whether endurance training or in the gym, these shoes are awesome! The shoes fit true to size and I also wear Newton Gravity, Nike Vomero's and Asics cumulus.
Awesome Shoes...Have Helped My Feet So M
The Altra Intuition shoes have a nice wide toe box & a narrow heel that fits a woman's foot nicely.
These shoes have helped strengthen my feet due to the minimalist design.
I've noticed more flexion & strength in my feet.
The problem I've had forever with my big toe joint is so much better!
Almost pain free & no more swelling.
The only problem is that there is an adjustment period to wearing these shoes.
Follow the advice of the company to alternate wearing with your old shoes.
Your feet will "plant" differently so be careful you don't trip!
Great Shoes with Zero Drop
I got these shoes after trying several different pairs since changing my running form 2 years ago. This particular pair is currently my 2nd. I've been working on a more natural running form and trying to lighten the impact on my joints. Not really interested in going "barefoot", this shoe is a great compromise. Has zero drop and protection without being all "cushiony". My forefoot has plenty of room to spread as I land allowing for a more natural response. Love these shoes!
Colorado Springs, CO
These were one of the most comfortable shoes I've worn and was tempted to keep them just to wear in the house as slippers or to the gym for weight training. I loved the way they felt in the toe box and though cushioning was OK for wearing around, I prefer a bit more when running. I tried these a few days on the treadmill and running 1-2 miles. I had no pain, but wasn't in love with them. If you are considering a zero drop shoe, I would recommend these.
I've been running in Merrill Pace Glove for 2 years but felt like I needed some cushioning, I mostly run on sidewalks. My runs just got comfy! My only complaint is that RRS is only carrying the obnoxious color that it come in. I know it seems everyone is into wild colors....I like something a little more subtle. I'll order my next pair directly from Altra unless RRS offers the other color.

I suffered with plantar fasciitis and heel spurs for months. After switching to these shoes I have not had any problems at all. I am purchasing another pair for every day use. They are not the prettiest, but they are comfortable. Unfortunately, the seam at the base of the tongue on one of the shoes was not finished correctly and the rough edge rubs the top of my foot. I'm exchanging them for another pair.
I love this shoe. I was hesitant at first to try it. I have been having forefoot pain and thought this might irritate it. Not the case at all, in fact it is getting better. Break in was not a problem for me at all. After a couple of short runs I have been able to use it as my primary shoe with out any problem.
I just bought these shoes and they were great straight out the box. I took them out for a 2 mile spin and then ran a Half Marathon the next day. I love the zero drop and have been wearing that type of shoe so there was no "break-in" period for me. I will use them for the Chicago Marathon as well.
I got these because I needed more toe room. I was worried about the difference of height from heel to toe. I ran 3 miles the day I got them, and 6 miles the next day. No problems no sore muscles. So comfy. Love them. I did get a size bigger like they suggested.

This shoe doesn't hurt my neuroma!!!
The flatness of the shoe works for my neuroma. The square toe and width takes he pressure off the metatarsals. I have been unable to do any walks at all until I purchased these shoes.
These shoes do feel like a slipper but need time to get used to them for long runs.
Love them! Feels like slippers!
they almost make my workout enjoyable
