What glides me through the long runs

5

I used this shoe to qualify for the Boston Marathon, and currently I'm using it to train for a half marathon in the fall. I've been focusing a lot more on speed work, and even with my ongoing runner's knee and the impact of doing speed work on pavement, my feet and joints are holding up great. I love these shoes and have no reason to switch!

Consistently great shoe!

5

The 2100 series, currently the 2150, is a shoe that I can always count on. I run about 50 miles a week. The shoe is comfortable, durable, and gives great support. I never have injuries, which is a huge plus.

I buy these same shoes every 3-4 months, due to the mileage I put on them. They are durable, comfortable and even add to my style!

I miss the 2140's

3

This is my 14th or 15th pair of these Asics, and I've had them since the 2110's a few years ago. I didn't like the 2140's when I first got them, so I opted for the newest Brooks. However, after having surgery for a bunion, I decided that I needed to order shoes in W. My Brooks didn't come in wides, so I went back to Asics. I loved my pair of 2140's (purchased about 9 months after the original 2140's came out). However, these new ones are not the same shoes at all! I hate to say that since I'm such a loyal Asics customer, but they do not fit the same as my old shoes at all. The wides in the 2150's are much wider, and they give me blisters. The 2140's never game me blisters, no matter how many long runs or speed workouts I did. These ones also feel like they have so much cushion that I have lost all connection with the road. I feel like I will trip over tree roots (and I have!) and minor cracks in the road. The fabric on the shoe feels stiffer and is not as comfortable for tightening the laces. I wish I had only good things to say about these, and maybe I would if I had ordered them in the regular width. However, I feel like you should always know what size you need in a shoe. If the manufacturer changes the updated models, you should't have to wonder whether your size changed as well.

Solid Shoe for Narrow Feet

4

I have been a heavy runner (used to do 30-40 per week), but am recovering from several surgeries, so it's been more like 15-20 at the moment. So the lower mileage means I do not feel comfortable commenting on the durability or use for more miles. But for what I'm doing now, they are very solid shoe. I've been in New Balance (various models) for a long time. Was hesitant to change, but am glad I did. I have "french fry" feet: long and narrow. I order up, as i like some room in the toe box, so I usually have 10 Narrow. The New Balance feels something like a narrow upper on a regular base. The ASICS is narrow all over. In fact, it's the first time I did not have to take advantage of the extra lace holes on the side of the regular laces. Also a few ounces lighter than some of the New Balance, which is nice. It's been hot and humid, and at 7am, it's not uncommon for 65+ degrees and 90% humidity. Tested with several different socks (some technical, some good old cotton/poly blend) and no blisters, so they seem pretty breatheable. One odd thing: the tongue on the right foot may be a little off, as it seems to press into my ankle a little bit.

Great shoe!

4

I love this shoe. When the Brooks Adrenaline 9 changed design/construction from the 8, I had to switch to the Asics 2140. When I wore out the 2140, I upgraded to the 2150s, and I'm just as pleased with them. I have two pairs I'm currently training in, so I haven't yet seen how long they'll go, but I did half my marathon training in them, and just completed the marathon, with very few ailments: zero foot blisters, and the front of my 2nd toes are sore, but I don't think I'll lose the toenails! (I should note that I am wearing a half-size bigger than my general sneakers/dress shoes.) I should also note that I don't know how comfortable the shoe feels without shoe inserts, since that's what I use whenever I run. Overall, very pleased with the shoe.

Not quite as good...

4

I've been buying this Asiscs series for years and love most of them. The only problem with these is that the fit is INBETWEEN sizes. Look at the comments too about sizing up 1/2 being too big, but true to fit street size is too small. I chose street size. Now my left toe is hitting the top of the shoe on long runs. I have to wear gels and/ or bandaids on my big toe or I know my toenail will turn black. I've never had this problem with the Asics series. I bought a second pair without even realizing this problem(until I started doing long runs). I have to use one pair for short runs ONLY because of this! Now I'm due for a new pair soon, but like the first comment, I'm afraid to go up 1/2 size; probably going to be too big. I would recommend these only if your foot finds the magical size that works for you!

They feel great

5

Just received these in the mail, after switching from my discontinued 2140s. They feel great, but I would not recommend sizing down as some reviews have stated. I wore an 8.5 in my 2140s, and I ordered an 8 in these, and they are a little too small. As a runner, I can't have my toe bumping into the front of my shoe, and now that I've sized down, it does just enough that I need to get the 8.5. They feel a little narrow for a regular width shoe, but my foot is on the narrow side, so it's fine, but if you have a wider foot, definitely get a wide width. They feel great though, and I can't wait to get the 8.5 and start running in them.

Dependable and light

4

I've been wearing Asics since the 1970s and, in all that time, have only suffered injury once. (Two years ago, matching shin splints, both legs, that took a year of minimal mileage to heal.) I no longer run marathons, but am comfortably training for a half now and always rotate three pair of shoes. That said, I've been sticking with the 2100 series and am happy with their lightweight support and comfort. I purchase them 1/2 size larger than my usual shoes as the 10s felt short. The only problem with the 2150 model that I've experienced is that at first they seem noticeably higher up around the ankle bone. I'll probably try the 2160 next order... Meanwhile, I'm a happy Asics runner.

Great shoe

4

Have been wearing this shoe for years - I had plantar fasciitis in 2003 - started wearing these shoes shortly after that and it went away and haven't had a problem since. I use them for marathon and Ironman training as well as cross training (plyometrics etc). I'm guessing there may be a "lighter" shoe out there - but for the distances I go, I haven't had enough guts to stray and try to find a light shoe. I like the mesh top for wet days and also for the heat in the summer. I also like that this shoe comes out w/ a new version every year so I can just take my old shoe into the store and it's easy to replace - I haven't had to worry about Asics stopping making this model....and it's great to buy this shoe in January b/c the "old" previous year model are on super sale! ; )

Marathon runner

4

For running marathons, I order these shoes one full size larger. In normal shoes I wear an 8 or 8.5 but I get these in 9.5 since my feet swell a a lot with all of the running I do. Of course they are then too big when they get downgraded to workout shoes in the gym. For running, I can only get about 300-350 miles. I preferred the 2140's because with the 2150's I felt like my outer toes were taking a little abuse from the hard edge/seam on the top of the shoe. But with all of that said, I can't find a shoe that I absolutely love so I am going to stick with this shoe, but I am hoping to visit a roadrunner store to verify my decision.

"Where do you buy your running shoes?"

5

I wear my Asics GT 2150's daily. I live in them! I am a physical education teacher that is on her feet 24/7 and after I teach all day I walk for an hour. These shoes are comfortable, durable, and have great support. My feet never hurt, never blister, and never feel tired after a full day of movement! They are stylish as well: My students and co-workers ask me all the time where I buy my running shoes because they are so "cool" looking!

Back to the Asics!

5

My first pair of running shoes were the Asic GT2120s. Since them I have tried numerous shoes: NB, Brooks, Nike and none of them gave me the same comfort as those first pair of Asics. I came back and tried the 2150s and I love them!! Nice stable, but moderately cushioned ride. I'm so happy! The only caveat is that they tend to wear out quickly on me, but I think that is because I am a large girl (5'8 and over 200lbs but shrinking!) As I keep losing weight I suspect they'll last longer.

5

I run several days per week training for various events like triathlons and marathons. I suffered for years wearing the wrong shoes and these are certainly the right one....they made my training SO MUCH better! Even tried another style of Asics and have gone back to the 2150! With the wide width my shoes are comfortable with plenty of room in the toe box. The cushioning in these shoes is awesome....they feel great from the get go, no break-in time required.

Love this shoe!!!

5

I am a college runner, and I have tried a multitude of shoes, but I ALWAYS come back to this shoe. It is a very versatile shoe that provides excellent cushioning and support! I have an average/ high arch, but I need the extra support that can't be found in a neutral shoe. It is a durable shoe, and I put a lot of mileage on my shoes. My only reserve with this shoe is that I have to get an insert. Other than that, it is great! Definitely worth the investment!

great shoe

4

I bought 2 pairs of these for daily runs (of about 1 hour), using each every other day. These are the lightest ones I've had in purchases over the last year or so, and my feet can tell the difference. I like the style (striping and color), and so far they seem to be holding up to all my expectations. I really can't think of anything I don't like about the shoes, but that maybe they could come in some other colors.

Consistently good

4

I've been running in the same Asics series for the last five years. It's one of the only stability shoes that comes in a narrow, so my choices have always been limited. Of the shoes that come in a narrow, I have always liked these the best. They're comfortable, hold up well for my running needs (approx. 35 miles/week), and they're not too expensive. I've always worn an 8.5, but the 2150s feel strangely larger. If I had it to do over, I might go for an 8. Maybe that was just my pair, though. Overall, a solid stability shoe.

Great Performance Year after Year

4

I have been an avid runner since graduating from college 11 years ago.. I've Completed 3 Marathons & continue to race in Half Marathons, 10 milers and 10k races throughout the year. I found Asics 10 years ago after experiencing rapid shoe breakdown with another manufacturer. The GT 2150 has been a great shoe, very similar from year to year. The only problems I've experienced on occasion is blistering on the inside arch.

My Steadfast Choice

5

I have been using this shoe for about 2 years now. I'm on my 3rd pair! I am training for my first half marathon and these are great. I love the narrow feel (I have extremely thin feet) yet I've never had a blister from them being too narrow. They are true to size and last a long time. I run in the city so it's mostly pavement and these shoes really help cut down on the impact - never have knee or hip pain after running. Great buy!!

Pretty good

4

I've been wearing the Asics GT series shoes since middle school (I'm currently in Grad school) and love them. The only problem I had with this pair was some extra material at the base of the tongue of the shoe, which rubs against my toes and causes a blister. I thought it might be a 'breaking them in' issue, but it's been over a week now and it still bothers my toes (although at this point I think my toes have toughened up, as it doesn't bother them quite as much). I thought about returning them, but really needed new shoes ASAP!

they just keep getting better

5

after a lifetime of black and blue toes, these asics are the first shoe narrow enough to hold my foot at the correct size. I still have to add arch supports and other padding, but even at 20+ miles/day I only experience blisters or chafing in extreme heat. My only complaint is durability: the uppers stretch outand the heels wear down rather quickly -- but surprisingly, they do maintain good stability even as they wear out.

Very comfy running shoes

4

I just bought two more pairs because they're so comfortable. The only 'con' is that the pair I bought 3 months ago already has a hole in the top of the shoe from my toe hitting it while I'm running. I think that's a little fast for a shoe to wear out, especially considering I'm not a marathoner or anything. Other than that...I really like the shoes...they're very cushiony and comfortable!

5

I was referred to roadrunner from my doctor. I wear orthotics and my feet were still hurting after working out. I'm training for a 5k and I love my shoes. I wore NB for years and I have to say these shoes are the best and my feet don't hurt, my back doesn't hurt. I would recommend these shoes for pronathic. If I could afford I would buy 5 pairs.

When ever I purchase the next GT-21__ series shoe, it is like reconnecting with my best friend. My feet are happy to wear them instantly and I know they will be dependable. I taught school for 35 years and the last 2 years my asics save my feet, legs and back...I will continue to wear them through my retirement years!!!

Much lighter than previous models

4

I really love these shoes. Asics have barely changed the GT range, and why would they when they've nailed the product! This shoe feels pleasantly lighter than the last model yet with the same support you've come to expect, although the shoe feels a little smaller this time around. Would probably go half a size up if big k's are your thing - you'll appreciate the room for when your feet start to expand.

I want to love these...

4

I'm a long-time devotee of the 2100 series, and so I want to love these. It's too soon to tell--I've only been running on them for a week--but I've got mixed feelings: they're super cushy and light, but the toe box is definitely roomier than it used to be, and I'm not crazy about the change in the last. They just don't quite fit like they used to.

Great training/racing shoe for women

5

I'm a 52 yr. old former top woman road racer/triathlete, that still loves to run and race occasionally. (Raised three kids and ran with strollers for years.) These GT have always given great performance, and the only complaint I have is that I wear out the outsoles quickly, heavy heel striker! Otherwise, a great shoe and a good price for the stability and cushioning.

5

I'm a recreational runner (5-10 mi. per week) and had the predecessor GT-2140. They had a lot of wear, so I upgraded to the GT-2150, which I love just as much as the previous pair. They're lightweight, durable, and are the only shoes I've tried that don't give me ankle pain. I also like the pattern and color choices, so I look good while I run.

I used these sneakers to train for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for a Cure. I walked 60 miles in three days and only got one blister on the last day. I would highly recommend these sneakers to anyone who is training for a long run/walk. They are very durable, comfortable and look good. Most of all they were able to walk over 60 miles and still feel good.

I have worn the Asics series for years. I have AA width & by ordering online I am able to get a shoe that actually fits my foot! Hurrah!

I am very disappointed in the comfort of this shoe. I changed for the Brooks Adrenaline to the 2130s then to the 2140s and loved the fit! There is something about the 2150s that I am not a fan of! Asics needs to go back to the fit of the 2140s!

I ordered a wide width shoe and did not have any problem with the toe box being too big. In fact, it fit perfectly (I did not order a 1/2 size too big). However, there has been a change in the construction of the shoe in that there is a strip of material on the inside of the arch that is less flexible than the rest. This gave me a blister on the arch of my foot, so I will be returning this pair. This was my 5th pair in this series and I am very disappointed that I now have to find a new running shoe.

I agree with MN Runner, 1/2 size too big. Order a 1/2 size SMALLER than you had in your GT-2140s if you're updating. (e.g. if you wore an 8 in the 2140s, order 7 1/2 in the 2150s). They sure feel comfy and light. Can't wait for my pair that fits!! :)

I'm disappointed. The 2150s are a 1/2 size too big!!! This sucks! I wore a 9 1/2 in the 2140s and ran them into the ground so I ordered a 9 1/2 in the 2150s- too big! Go one half size down if you get these. I'm upset! I got a great deal on RR for these and now have to go into a store to try on and pay more (because it's $10 to ship back which you have to pay for on RR to return/exchange and it will take 2 weeks to get my new pair so it defeats the purpose of buying them online!) Bad move Asics! I'm sure the shoe is great - love the cushion but the size is off on this model.

I have worn this series of running shoes for over a decade, and I am very disappointed with the 2150's. They are heavier from more cushioning, yet the shoe is not softer. In fact, it's rigid, and my heals hurt, which I have never experienced before. Also, the liner is treated with antimicrobials, which are unhealthy for the wearer, and also for the environment. You are exposed to an antibiotic, which is absorbed into the skin, gets into our water (via manufacturing), and can lead to bacterial resistance. Please tell Asics to discontinue this. Their last good shoe was the GT-2130.

I ordered these shoes hoping they would be as comfortable as my Mizunos. These shoes are a little more rigid and heavy than I expected. I am training for a marathon and towards the end of my run, my feet were getting fatigued. Some of the shoes in the stability category are just too stiff. I will have to keep looking, for whatever reason they are not carrying my size in the new Mizuno Inspires.
