I previously ran in the Nimbus 11's and loved them. I was so disppointed with the 12's. I was never comfortable in them, especially my right foot (plantar fascitis). I ended up wearing a beloved but worn-out 11 on my right foot and the stiff 12 on my normal left foot. I was SO glad that the 13 went back to the fit and cushioning of the 11. I will be stocking up on this shoe. I went up half a size in these, but I always do that for running shoes.

NOt doing it for me
I started out with the Nimbus 10, which I loved so much that I only ran for those shoes. Of course, there was no doubt that I would take a Nimbus again. (skipped and missed 11 and 12 unfortunetaly because of a knee surgery) But I am really dissappointed with the new Nimbus 13. It doesn't have the wide toebox like the others and the middle part is too narrow (ordered Medium width, like last time) and it doesn't have the asymetric lacing, which i was so fascinated about. It doesn't feel comfortable for me at all, when i run more than 45min with it.It scrapes on my pinky toe and the inside/middle part of my foot. I still gave it 3 stars because maybe it would have been better with a wider width and it has great cushioning. I asked the Chat on here if Nimbus 12 is wider than the 13 and I've been told it is so. So, if you are considering buying this and have a bit of a wider foot than others, i would recommend to take the wider option. As for me, I already ordered the Nimbus 12 and hope that it feels a lot nicer and will take the Nimbus 13 for walking or when im at the gym and want to do simple things, but not for running.
I have high arches and struggle with running shoes. I need arch support, however I need it to be flexible. Also, I like lots of cushion, this is a hard combonation to fine. I finally found it in the Asics Nimbus 11, (I had like 8 pair of them) then the Nimbus 12 did not work for me. Much heavier feeling shoe and not as flexible. Love, Love, Love the Nimbus 13! It is lighter, more flexible and cushy! I did add the RRS cushion insole. I will order several and stock up!

Pumped Up Kicks
First, the stats: I have high arches, am 5'8" & 130lb, and run about 20-30 miles a week (though thats increasing while I train for the next marathon). Love these runners. Hated the last model, the 12s, but I had to wear them. They felt like platforms that thudded down the road. Loved the 11s, low riders and moderately cushy. These are more like the 11s in that they don't ride so high but with much more cush under the ball of the foot; like a cross between the Cumulus and the older Nimbus. The only concern I noticed on todays 5 miler is that the toe box feels a little smaller/narrower because of the cushion. it wasn't uncomfortable to me but I was wearing thin socks and my foot is narrow/regular. I can't wait to wear them on tomorrows 8 miler because I am back to not noticing my shoes and focusing on the run. Oh, and do size up a half size. I wear 9's and always buy 9.5 in Nimbus.

I have to admit at first it just didnt feel right, knowing the Nimbus series from the 10s up. They usually tended to have a wider toeboxes and were a tad wider in the middle part. So, if u were relying on these features, I recommand to get a half size or one size up, or simply the wider toebox. After about 7-10K running with it, it just felt great from then on. I can hit the pavement with it as fast as I want or can and it still feels comfortable. I also had surgery on my right knee, but The support and cushions are the greatest and during the whole run my knee doesnt bother me one bit. can't imagine to run without it anymore. I ran about 200 miles with it and it's about time to get me new once. I hope this will help with any decissions.
Love this shoe!!
I just traded in my Nimbus 12 shoes after reading the great reviews of the 13's. What a difference! The 12's were the first pair of Nimbus' I've ever owned and they felt good, but not like this. These are so comfortable right out of the box. The support feels great and I feel like I could run forever!
Can't wait to run more miles in these
I'm currently alternating between these and Nike Vomero+6 which I bought at the same time. I do like the Nike's however I think these will be my favorites. I needed a few runs in those before I was sure I would keep them, but with the Nimbus 13 I knew as soon as I hit the treadmill they were keepers since they immediately felt perfect. Prior to buying these I tried the Asics Sky Speed which I did like however the cuff cut into my ankle so took them back. A year ago I was running in Brooks Ghost 2 and loved them, but heard the 3 were way different so switched over to Asics Cumulus. I've determined that I need a fair amount of cushioning, but was reluctant to try the Neutral Plus category, afraid they would be too heavy. I'm amazed at how light these feel on my feet but at the same time provide nice cushioning.

I have a wide foot with a high arch. I ordered the "wide". I like the shoe, but it is a bit snug in the width compared to others. Overall, shoe is good. I run 10-15 miles per week.
D the runner
I have been stocking up on the Nimbus 12's but was curious about the 13's, just received & ran in them and WOW!! THEY ARE AWESOME, EVEN BETTER THAN MY FAVORITE 12's!
Agree with Binky
I also noticed a strange feeling in the instep, just proximal to the ball of the foot. It felt tight, or strange. Just kind of rubbed wrong. I re-did my socks, re-laced the shoes, but something was still funny. I went for a run, and came back with numb toes, and painful feet. Weird. I don't usually review shoes (I mean, everyone's feet are different), but another reviewer also commented on the weird fit, and I thought it was worth mentioning.
Loved It At First But Didn't Hold Up
Shoe didn't hold up for me very long--I don't run, but buy Asics Gel Nimbus line for the cushioning due to cavis feet, and I wore the shoe with an orthotic, as I do with all my athletic shoes. After 3-6 months of wear for gym classes--BOSU Ball, Cardio Core,Boot Camp, and Spinning, along with power walking outdoors, the outsole slid out from under me and rolled inward. Imagine suddenly tripping over your outsole as it rolls inward from the upper 1" to the inside of your feet--all support was gone and I felt as though I was standing/working out on the outer sides of my feet. I stopped the class as soon as this effect occurred. Had I continued, I might have sustained a severe foot or ankle injury. Very surprised at the poor intergrity of this shoe design. I have been buying Gel Nimbus for quite some time and never had this problem before.
Great looking shoe, but...
Got these sneakers for Christmas from hubby. Didn't actually use them until February. Ran 18 miles in these shoes (3 days, 6 miles each day) on the dreadmill. Toe box was really tight compared to my other Asics, I assumed this style needed a break in period...BUT, these shoes actually gave me a toe injury after just 18 miles. Saw a Podiatrist this past Monday and had to have a painful callus removed from between last two toes. I reverted to my new Saucony sneakers husband also got me for Christmas as the toe box is much larger and gave me some relief while running with the callus until I could get an appointment with a Podiatrist. I can not wear these shoes, even around the house which is a shame because they look awesome and feel really cushy on. Buyer BEWARE!!!
NOT a good shoe for wide forefoot
When I first put this shoe on it was very comfortable. However, my first run in them was a 6 miler and after about 2 my feet started to hurt very bad around the forefoot. My toes went numb and by the end of the run I just took them off and walked barefoot back to my car. I had invested a lot of money in them so I didn't want to give up on them.. Took them home and wore them for about a week just around the house and to run errands etc.. On the next run I loosened the laces A LOT but when they felt comfortable around in the toe box they became too loose in the heal. I ended up developing achillies tendon issues after running for over 2 years with no problem.. So I gave up, Got mizunos and have been happily ever after.
Dana, the marathon running mom
I am a longtime ASICS wearer but a running beginner. I thought the Nimbus 12 was great but I just took the 13 out for a short run today (2 miles) and they were fantastic from the word "go". When I don't notice them while I am running, then to me, they are golden. I literally took them out of the box, put them on, and walked out the door, no breaking in required. I was concerned about the toebox after reading some reviews but I didn't notice the difference from the 12, maybe because I have a narrow foot. Anyway, I think the Nimbus 13 and I will be together for many miles to come (until I can afford the 14!).
Strap Across Side = Pain, Numbness
I needed to replace my Adidas Rides -- which I have loved -- and this was my second try. After a painful pair of Brooks, I went to the Asics Nimbus 13. There is a strap (for lack of a better word) across the inside of the shoe just below the ball that is very uncomfortable. Despite this, I thought I would give them a try. My toes were numb at about 1.5 miles and so uncomfortable I stopped at 2 miles. The next day, I tried loosening the top laces. While this helped lessen the pressure of that strap, my toes were still numb before I finished my second mile. I'll be returning them tomorrow and waiting for my size in the Ride 2 to be available.
I am an avid tennis player. I bought these shoes for conditioning, running on the road and treadmill. I work out in the gym 4-5x a week. I have owned Asics before and none of them ever had the comfort level of the Nimbus 13. I actually switched to Saucony a few years ago because of the the comfort level, but these Asics are super light, have a lot of cushion, and are SO comfortable. I did have to get a full size larger than my "tennis" shoes. I normally wear a 7.5 and bought an 8.5 in these. They are a perfect fit and the colors are great!
Needed a wider toe box
I run about 3-4 times per week (my long run is generally 6-8 mi). I've worn the Asics Gel-Nimbus for years now and have loved them. However, the past few shooes I've purchased have been feeling tighter and tighter in the toe box. My feet have continued to get larger so I'm not sure the design of the shoe has changed. I recently switched to the NB 1080 (the 880s are very similar as well) and this solved the problem. Just wanted to share for anyone in the same predicatment as mean. I'll miss the Gel-Nimbus, but my feet are much happier now.
San Antonio, TX
I loved the Nimbus 12. My right foot is wider than my left and the Nimbus 12 was a perfect fit in the toebox without having order a wide size. I went to re-order the 12's, but weren't in my size so I ordered the Nimbus 13. I should have read the reviews about the shoe being narrower than previous version. They were to narrow in the toebox which surprises me for Asics because they are the one shoe I can wear without having to order a wide size to accomodate my right foot. I had to return them and will either try the Landreth or Nimbus 14.
Last year was bad for shoes: Saucony triumph (5,6 were magic) 7 was a waste of money. Mizuno creation was ok but left a perma-blister on my R big toe. This shoe is a miracle after that! It's very cushioned compared to the above, but flexible and light. Solid for my high arches (always with superfeet insoles). It is still a touch too flexible for me, and I occasionally get that blister on the right big toe, but short of orthotics it doesn't get much better than this. I run about 30 miles/week.
Nimbus 13s made a comeback!
My first pair of running shoes were the nimbus 11s - thought they were really good. Very disappointed with the 12s. Felt like I was wearing 2 boxes - no shape, no cushion, no support! Thought that maybe the 11s were a fluke. Decided to give asics one more try with the 13s. They are everything I need in a runnning shoe: comfortable, roomy in the toe box, lightweight. I wear them in my normal size. Will probably buy another pair while they are still available. Sweet!
Working to Become a Better Runner
Toe Box too Small :-(
I'm a long distant runner and I've been running in asics gel nimbus 10 & 11. I've always found the cushion, support, comfort and performance to be over the top great. I ran 6 1/2 miles in the new gel-nimbus 13's and my toes hurt, the bottom of my feet hurt and I was very unhappy. I like a roomy toe box and this upgrade does not have a roomy toe box. I hope asics will enlarge the toe box for future designs.
Great runners- my orthotics fit well inside them (I purchased the 'normal' width and place my orthotics under the liner) though it took a few runs for them to 'meld' into place. I run on paths and trails and these runners are up to both conditions. Wore them for my first half marathon and found them to be lightweight and comfortable - did not notice any probs during the run. Will buy them again :)
Snowy Mountains, NSW
Good shoe. Ordered 1/2 size larger which is usual for running shoes. Shoe was long enough but the fit across the front of the foot (not the toe box but just behind the toes and in front of the ankle) was tight. After two weeks kinda got more comfortable. Got both colors, the blue is much nicer. Then bought Mizuno Wave Prophecy, OMG! sending back the Asics. Mizuno's are incredible - worth every penny!!!

Feel Custom Made!
I wear my Asics down, before wearing them out. I stand all day; wearing my Asics has become necessary to endure an arthritic back. I get very picky about my sneaks and trust Asics. I've worn various versions over the years. Although shoes are not "made like they used to be" Asics are always spot on. My Gel Nimbus 13s arrived, and slid on like "butta" it was instant love. Standing already this morning, feels like being on a cloud.
I work out 3 times a week with a personal trainer and 2 times a week doing cardio. These sneakers are wonderful! I have the charcoal/purple and they are so cute and stylish but more importantly they are comfortable. I am prone to getting blisters and with these sneakers its not even an issue. LOVE THEM!!!!
Not my favorite Nimbus..I loved the 12 and this shoe felt to narrow for my foot which is odd. I am having to purchase new shoes now and I have only had mine for a month.. The shoe besides that problem is great.. great weight and I love the new design just sad they made is narrower than the others...
Great running shoe!
These are the most comfortable running shoes ever. I have run in Nike, Brooks and Saucony and love these Asics best. The shoe has great cushioning for a forefoot runner. The laces are off-center so they don't hurt the tops of my feet when I lace up. What a wonderful idea!!! Love, love, love this shoe!!!
over 60 runner
Wow - I received mine early to test. What a great ride! I need the extra cushioning due to my knee issues and boy this shoe has been great. Soft but not too squishy. I have always loved the Nimbus and am so happy this new update gives me a little more cushion!
My feet are falling asleep
I have been wearing Nimbus for YEARS. This model felt good when I first purchased them but 6 months later, my feet are falling asleep in them. I've tried adjusting my lacing but it hasn't helped. I run about 20 miles weekly and these shoes just haven't held up.
Finally a stylish running shoe!
I preordered these and got them in the mail yesterday. Fortunately I ordered them a 1/2 size larger and they fit perfectly. I ran in them today and couldn't be happier. Extremely comfortable, lightweight, and breathable.
