Thank you!

Thank you Asics for the new Kayano 18! I loved the 17 and was worried when the new version came out. It fits so much the same but seems softer so far on the 50 miles I have on my new pair.

These are MY shoes!

5

I have cycled through about 10 pairs of these puppies, and they are the best running shoe around. I have run in them all over the world, from the hot and dry conditions of Baja in Mexico, to the alps in Switzerland. I have run 4 full marathons and countless half marathons in these. As a Seattlite, I end up doing a lot of running in the rain- these shoes also provide great traction.

Different fit than Kayano 17

2

I loved the Kayano-16 and -17, but ended up returning the -18 after trying them out for awhile. They never felt comfortable, felt snugger than my 17's, and did not fit at all well with my custom orthotics. Ended up having to go into a running shoe store to try new styles as this no longer works for me. I loved being able to try them out and then return them - thanks Road Runner. ...and now that I have another shoe, I will order again from you. Also, the heel felt lower and I did not like the new lacing on the shoe. I do not have an easy foot - very flat, wider in front and narrower in back, and deal with occasional posterior tibial tendonosis in my bigger foot (one foot about 1/4-size larger than the other). I was so disappointed! I was hoping to break them in and wear them for the San Francisco Marathon, but ended up having to wear my worn-out 17's.

Disappointment

2

I have been a devoted Kayano fan for a while - I believe that these 18s would have been my 7th pair. They have always had excellent cushioning and support. When it was time to replace my 17s I was thrilled to order the 18s in titanium and pink because they looked so much more exciting than all of my other white combo running shoes... These are awful! They kill my feet! I always order a half size up in Kayanos and they still feel too snug. They rubbed my foot at its widest points, the tops of my feet became sore, and my toes went numb -- all from walking around the house! I haven't even tried running in them and believe I am too scared at this point to do so. Also, they feel very hard like they don't have nearly the cushioning I have come to expect from this line. I am very sad that I am going to have to find another type of running shoe.

Disappointed...

2

I loved my 16s and 17s and was thrilled when the 18s came out in such vibrant colors. I ignored the reviews that said order a half size up...mistake number one. I had to send the 7.5 shoes back and go up to an 8 (I have NEVER worn an 8 in any kind of shoe). When I received the 8s I was quite disappointed in the initial experience. I walked around the house and realized that these are perhaps too big! I took out the Asics insoles, put my inserts in...still not a good fit. I even tried with both inserts in, even worse. I decided on day 2 to go out for a short run to get a good feel for the shoe but this only lead to foot pain. (Pain on the top of my foot and on the arch) I will have to send these back and go to my local running store to find on new shoe. Thank you road runner for your awesome Custoemr Service. I will be back after I find a new shoe!

Asics Gel-Kayano's

5

I have been running for 35 years and wearing this shoe ever since it came out. I have trained for a lot of marathons with this shoe. Its a heavier shoe but its made for us runners that are very muscle bound and larger then the average runner. Its a great shoe and I love it for training on the road and on the trails. It really takes a beating. I buy three pairs at one time. One to walk to work everyday. One to run in everyday and a back-up pair. I am a 48 year old female that runs 45 miles a week (when I'm not training for a marathon) It's the best shoe Asics has ever made!!! Just saying!!

I wanted to love these shoes...

2

These shoes have great cushion and support. However, I ordered them in a wide because of a prominent bone is located where a bunion would be and the Asics logo on the outside of the shoe actually rubs on that bone while I walk. I can't imagine running any distance in them without pain and blisters. I've had Asics in the past and love them but it seems that all of their shoes I've tried on lately have had the same issue. I don't understand why they can't make the logo out of a material that gives. If they did I would be able to go back to my favorite brand of stability shoe.

Order up a half size more than normal!

4

This is my third pair of Kayanos. I loved the 16's and adored the 17's and thought that the once ounce lighter 18's were going to be my dream shoe. While I do like them a whole lot, they run about a half size smaller than the 16 and 17. I felt a little crammed in the toe box on my last half marathon in the 18's. There just wasn't that extra room for my feet to expand after pounding miles of pavement. I'm going to order another pair in an additional size larger and pray that I love them even more. If not, I may have to consider my alternatives. A Stability Plus shoe is imperative for me.

After being fitted by Shoe Dog I was fearful that I could find shoes that really made a difference in my training but I worried for nothing. Love these shoes!

Kayano 18 is Great

5

I have a narrow, flat feet and I overpronate. I tried on the Kayano 19, but didn't feel comfortable spending $150 on a pair of shoes that I wasn't sure would work out. Luckily, Road Runner Sports still had the Kayano 18 in stock, so I ordered it instead and it is working out great. I will switch to the Kayano 19 when they go on sale. You should order a 1/2 size up from your normal street shoe size. I did try on just about every brand of shoe designed for overpronators and these were by far the most comfortable for me.

Comfortable and Lightweight

4

I bought these after running in the 16's for a while. These 18's are so much more comfortable, and so much more lightweight. The cushioning is great, but still provides alot of stabilty. Going a half a size up is never a good fit for me, so I bought them true to size (8 1/2) and they fit well, but are a tiny bit snug (I wouldn't go as far as saying they are a half a size too small). I love them and will continue to keep buying them as my current pairs wear out while I'm training for a marathon.

Awsome!

5

I am naturally more of a forefoot runner versus a heel striker and I was having troubles with shin splits recently. I went to three different running stores and was told to try three different shoes - none of which helped my shin splints. I did some research and decided to try these shoes and I'm so glad I did! The very first time I ran I could feel a difference! I need more cushion in the forefoot and also some stability and these shoes have both! I would highly recommend these!

Hot Shoe

3

I bought these to replace my beloved Gel Kayano 16's. Asics has definintely made some big changes since the #16 model! The 18's have great stability and cushioning, but I found them to be extremely hot and non-breathable. The fit is much different than the older Kayano model as well. Although the toe box is nice and roomy, they seem to be a bit narrower in the forefoot area. My first run (5 1/2 miles) left me with blisters. Needless to say, I will be exchanging these shoes today.

Best Shoes for Me

5

I have been a 35 mile a week runner for about 25 years and have recently been having a lot of foot problem. Went to the podiatrist who recommended this model since I needed cushion no the bottom of my foot. I've worn Asics for years but never this model. As soon as I put it on my foot it was comfortable and added much needed cushion on the bottom of my foot. I now have one pair for running and one pair for kicking around.

My shoe of choice

5

I have gone through a few pairs of these shoes while training for my last 50 miler. I love them! They took me on the road, on the trail (I have trail shoes, but I wore the Kayanos more), through mud and puddles, etc. The only reason I went through a few pair were because of the mileage I was putting on them. I was able to comfortably wear my inserts with them. They are lightweight, comfortable, and everything I was looking for in a running shoe!

Consistently my favorite running shoe!

5

I run longer distances 4 miles to 13 miles. They fit well, nice form fitting to my whole foot and heel box and yet plenty of room in the toe area. I hate paying high dollar for them so I usually buy a year late and get the older model. I have personally made orthodics that fit well in these. These shoes really make a difference and minimize my pronation and helps my planter fasciitis.

Love this shoe

5

I have always heard that the Brooks Trance and Asics Kayano were the best shoes. I have a bad overpronation and these seem to help me alot. I wanted to try these so when they went on sale I got a pair to try. I have always ran in Brooks but wanted dto try a more padded shoe. These shoes offer a more padded step and are comfortable. Seem to run a full size small. VERY SATISFIED WITH THESE SHOES!!!!

Not for me

2

This shoe made my feet move to the opposite of the center while I was running. I had to tie them extra tight so they would stay in place and that was unconfortable. I am very surprised this well reated model made me hate the shoes so much. I am going back to lower gel numbers because even the shape of the lace holes was towards the opposite side of the shoe and not in the center.

Guess one ounce matters

1

I read that this shoe (Kay 18) was a full ounce lighter than the Kayano 17. I loved the Kayano 16, but couldn't find my size in the 17, so tried the 18. Absolutely terrible. I know where the ounce came from--the front sole. I felt everything from the pavement, including the July heat! It was only a 4 mile run, thank goodness. This one's going back! Sorry Asics I really wanted to love it. :-(

Not the same Kayano

2

I have run in Kayanos for many years. The 16s were my favorite. When I received the 18s in the mail I immediately noticed they were not as substantial as previous Kayanos. And I was right...terrible cushioning, flimsy, not enough overall support--maybe comfortable if walking, but not outdoor running. Not the same Kayanos I am used to. I would not recommend.

Excellent, As Usual

4

This is my favorite shoe for walking, jogging, and gym use. I need stability and good heel support. However, I am noticing that I still need to add additional support at the heel and this one is a bit tight at the toe, especially on the right foot. But I want to give it a bit of break-in time before upping the size, as it is my usual size.

slightly diasappointed

3

I have worn these shoes for a number of years. This new streamlined version is not working for my toes. Even though I order a half size up, my forefoot is cramped, the shoe feels too narrow for a B width. I have never had this problem with these shoes before. I might have to find a new running shoe. I thought it was just me, until I started reading reviews with the same issues.

Disappointed....big time.

1

LOVED the Kayano 16.....When the 17 came out I snatched it but was disappointed when I would get numbness in my toes. I was super excited to see the 18 come out but was very disappointed to try them on. First, my normal Asics size felt much smaller than previous Kayano's. Plus the fit is completely different. Very disappointed since the Kayano 16 was so great. I bought the Brooks Trance 11 instead....hoping for the best....

Disappointed

2

My last running shoe was the Kayano 16. It fit great and was a good running shoe. I ordered the same size in the Kayano 18. It was shorter in length (than the 16), narrow in the toe box and wide in the ankle (just the opposite of what i need). They felt a little hard, but I only wore them briefly around the house, so I can't say much about the cushion and support. Disappointed to have to send these back.

Forefoot cushioning not as good

3

I've used Kayanos for years and through many changes in design. It has always been a good model until now. While the shoe is lighter, it seems to have been achieved by sacrificing forefoot cushion. This shoe remains fine for track workouts or runs of 6 miles or less. For longer runs, I pull out the 17 model. Sorry, but the 18s are a disappointment.

5

I have been running in this exact shoe for about 20 years.I can always count on them to fit perfectly from day one, no matter how different they may look from year to year. This makes it possible for me to buy without trying. This purchase was my first from Road Runner, and the best price I've ever found.

Happy runner!

These shoes Rock!

5

I bought these shoes and immediately continued my marathon triaining in them. They were immediately comfortable, I never had any blisters and have never had any shin issues. I just completed my first marathon and again absolutely no issues with my feet period. I would highly reccommend these shoes. They are well worth the price.

Excellent running shoe

5

I have tried several different brands and styles of running shoes over the years. By far, this is my favorite shoe when putting in long miles. I needed a good stability shoe. I have had surgery on both knees and when wearing these shoes for my long runs, I do not have nearly has much joint discomfort in my knees and hips. Very much worth my money.

Awesome!

5

I am a neutral runner but have been dissatisfied with premium neutral shoes. These are firm enough to be responsive but not cambered like most stability shoes. Asics are the best for my low volume foot. The kayanos provide structure without control. They will let you do your thing! Great for treadmill too.
