These are great, they are light like kinvaras but they actually give you quite a bit of cushion in the heel and forefoot. They are very comfortable very flexible, give you a nice feel of the ground beneath your shoes. I have only gone on 2 5+ mile runs but i dont feel like my knees took a pounding after a run, which was not the case for the sauconys. Not sure how durable they will be, as i will likely use them off of the pavement. the rubber traction is more substantial than the kinvara3 in the forefoot.
I was hoping to have a higher mileage minimalist shoe. These seem like a more viable option than the kinvaras with the added cushion.
Not a fan.
I'm a die-hard Asics model 33 wearer, and thought I'd give these a try. I have been disappointed ever since.
PROS - SUPER lightweight. The materials used in this shoe are unbelievably lightweight. They do breathe well. Look good with jeans. Feel true to size. The upper doesn't have any uncomfortable points that poke into the foot anywhere, which is nice.
CONS - Uncomfortable sole. No arch support that I can detect whatsoever and I'm not sure where the ASICS "Gel" is, but it's not anywhere in this shoe. Since they're so light, they feel (and kind of look) cheap. They seriously don't feel like they'll last more than 6 months MAX during casual wear. No exaggeration. The laces on one of the two shoes is about an 1-1/2" shorter than the other, which makes tying them a pain (had same problem with my last pair of 33's).
My BIGGEST concern and complaint is that since this shoe is set up more or less as a free-run type of shoe, there is NO (and I mean NO) heel support. To expound: The rear blue section of the shoe is made up of a neoprene/spandex type of material that with enough pressure or impact could essentially let your foot slip out of the back or off the side of them. The lacing and upper, holds your foot to the front of the shoe...most of the time. However, I have noticed that while driving and even occasionally when walking, my foot will slide toward the back of the shoe and I can start to feel the edge of the sole. Needless to say, it's uncomfortable. I can't IMAGINE trying to run in them.
I'm usually thrilled with my 33's, but I have to send these back. I'm not sure if "Junk" is too strong of a word to describe them, but they're junk. Some people may love em', but I can't stand the things. Spend a little extra and get something better. Just my 2-cents.

name says it all... lyte = light
Long time cushion fan, looking to transition to barefoot/minimalist. I opted for these as they're lower drop than my nimbus, but not quite zero drop, they're less cushioned than the nimbus but still provide enough protection from impact. They have a removable insole so if I wanted to run with my orthotics on longer runs that option is available to me. I love how light these shoes are, and incredibly breathable, which isn't always great, on a recent run (91 degs/98 heat index), the tops of me feet got uncomfortably hot from the radiating street I was running on, it was borderline unbearable.
Just took them out of the box and headed out on a three miler. Was ready to take them off after a mile and run in bare feet. I'm 6'2", 200# and have been run in the Skechers Go-Run. I wanted something a bit more substantial to rotate with the Skechers, thought this would be it. Upper: Stiff, 1970s-style vinyl you can feel thru the fabric. Ride: stiff forefoot, forces you to heel strike to avoid the discomfort of a midfoot landing. Sole: Designed to capture gravel. Very disappointing, they're headed back to RRS tomorrow.
Cushiony and Light
I'm a long time Asics shoe user (mostly DS Trainers lately) and was looking for something light and with less drop. I tried a couple of models in the "33" line last year but didn't like the feel. This shoe is different-good forefoot cushion, nice rolling motion to the toe off, comfortable toebox, great fit for a low volume foot. It took a couple of long runs for the upper to soften and feel broken in but now it's my favorite shoe. It's made for pavement, not enough protection for the trails around Durango.
Landing forefoot doesn't feel right
I first thought in buying this shoe that it would be my new shoe for racing. Turns out after just a 1 mile test drive it was uncomfortable to run in. The sole is only on the inside of the bottom of the shoe and I land on the outer edge as normal stride would go. My heel started to pain toward the end of the run, no chance in continuing the run without probably causing more harm than good. Maybe others might see it differently.

These shoes are amazing. Super super light, good support, really makes running on your toes easy. I haven't had them long yet, but they have been a great training shoe for the road, sidewalk, and dirt. I would highly recommend this shoe to any runner looking for a more minimalist type of shoe. And the colors are sick!

Leave Well Enough Alone
I have been running is some version of Gel Lytes since 1987. It always seemed that every new edition was an improvement. However they have not been able to improve on the Gel Lyte 33. The more recent versions cannot compare. When RRS runs out of these I will be very sad.
My new Go-Fast shoe
The upper is a little rigid out of the box, so based on the initial feel, I wasn't convinced that I liked them. But once I ran in them a few times they felt great!
My favorite running shoe. Comfortable and long lasting- what more can you ask from a shoe?
I can run for miles in these. Comfortable, great support, and great looks.
I was very impressed
I wear them for training and racing and love em
