I purchased these shoes for trail runs in local national parks where there is a lot of mixed terrain (bridle path, pavement, dirt) and hills. I have been able to run in these on trails, and also on more traditional runs. The traction is great, even over mud and slick rocks and I didn't need to break them in. Although they aren't entirely waterproof, they dry quickly and they don't saturate when they get wet (ex: if you run through wet grass, your feet will eventually get a little wet but not uncomfortably so). Also, the black and pink design is not only cute, but makes it less obvious when they are really dirty. The only cons are that they feel a little heavy (the sole is pretty rugged, hence the great traction) and the less reinforced part of the shoe around the top lace holes frayed quickly for me.
Great Trail Shoes!
I love ASICS athletic shoes because they fit and support my feet so well. When I was in the market for a new pair of trail/hiking shoes, I naturally looked at what ASICS had to offer. I wanted something a bit lighter than my traditional hiking shoes for day hiking and trail running, but I needed more support & stability than traditional running/trail shoes for the rugged, rocky trails I hike on. These shoes hit the mark! They are lightweight, yet offer plenty of traction, support, and foot protection/stability from the rocky trails I climb. The colorful design is also more fun than traditional bland earth-tone hiking shoes. I ordered the same size I always get in ASICS and found them to be a bit snug in the toe--not good for hiking, so I recommend a half-size larger.
Almost the perfect trail shoe
These would be the perfect trail running shoe, if it weren't for the rock protection plate in them. It took me a good month running in these shoes to build up the ankle strength to counteract the feeling of running on a wooden plank when running over large roots/rocks. I would imagine this feature being quite useful on trails with many small rocks, but not so good with the larger objects. Now I've been running in them for almost 6 months and have fully adapted to the lack of give in the bottom of the shoe. Great traction on wet trails, no problem with wet leaves or wet rock. The laces do come untied fairly easily, though.
Great trail shoe!
My very first pair of trail runners and I absolutely love them! I've been a runner for several years and have worn Asics Gel Cumulus shoes throughout. My need for cushioning and good traction for my new off road pursuits were met with the Scout. Bonus points for being really cute too. Remember though, trail shoes are meant to get dirty, so the black will look gray after a good trail jaunt. These shoes rock!!

Happy feet :)
I hike / trail jog about once a week. I use these with custom insoles because of my fairly high arches and past issues (shin splints, knee problems, some ankle problems). So far I like them a lot- I had been using my regular running shoes on the trail, so these are a clear improvement in traction and cushioning, and I expect them to be far more durable, too.

Emphasized my supination
I am recovering from a Jones fracture and surgery (2" screw in 5th metatarsal) and hoping to get back running. I have high arches and supinate quite a bit. These shoes made it feel like I was supinating even worse. Felt pain on both of my 5th metatarsals, even my "good" one, just walking. So, I need to keep looking. They seem like a great shoe for people who don't have funky feet like mine!
great surprisingly comfortable
I bought this shoe on the advice of an RRS phone advisor and am surprisingly happy. I have had problems with several other trail shoes being too stiff or narrow in the toe. These shoes are very comfortable on steep trails. The comfort of the shoes are important though am not sure how durable they will be in long muddy runs.
I needed some shoes for doing dog agility that were light, had good traction and some protection with lateral movement. RRS recommended these, and they are great. Nice and light, good traction for sudden turns and for keeping up with my dog. A little narrower than I would like, but overall a pretty darn good shoe.
Overall, this is a great trail running shoe. Extremely comfortable. I used these to run in the Super Spartan ( mud/obstacle run) and they were fabulous. Great traction and they held up nicely. I had bought my husband the same pair in Men's, and he loved them too.
Good shoe, run big in size
Shoe is bigger and wider than expected. Will return for a smaller size, but keeping the same brand of shoe. Extremely comfortable and they perform great on rock climbing. Good ankle support for running on uneven surfaces such as gravel. Highly recommended!
Great Support and Comfort
I fast-walk with my Border Collie and Australian Shepherd for up to 2 hours every morning on mostly asphalt and concrete. These "trail runners" provide comfort and support for my run-damaged knees.
"Like walking on pillows"
These are great hiking shoes, they feel like you are walking on pillows. I hiked 18 miles in the Grand Canyon, down South Kaibab and up Bright Angel Trail and not a single blister. Love the colors too!
Loves to run and hike
Great trail shoe
My first specific trail running shoe and I love it! Great traction on gravel and rocks, comfortable to wear, fits orthotics easily. Changed laces to elastic laces which work a treat. Will buy again :)

My favorite shoes
This is the second pair I bought; the first pair lasted me for more than 500 miles. I find these shoes great both on trails and on the road.
Sad to see them discontinued
This is the third pair I bought; the first pair lasted me for more than 500 miles. I find these shoes great both on trails and on the road.
Love these shoes!
I wear these shoes non-stop for hiking and walking. They are my all-time favorite shoes, with good support and great comfort.
Love these shoes
I use these shoes for hiking/trail running. Great support for running and plenty of traction for the hills.
