I love this shoe. It replaced my brooks addiction which I loved for daily walking but as soon as I started running in them the bottom of my left foot hurt. The asics were recommended to me by a store specialist. I wear othotics for extreme overpronation, have very flat narrow feet and bunion on left foot. I loved these shoes right out of the box and currently am not wearing my othotics with them. So as another reviewere indicated they may be too much for someone with only a small over pronation. I am not running any great distance in them but I find them much lighter than the brooks and way more comfortable. Ive had them about a month so I cant say about durablity yet or for really long runs. Im working my way up. Over all very happy with them and they really attractive!
not what I hoped for...
Definitely not a replacement of the Evolution 6. I was using those because they were the best for cushioning my feet whenever I got stress fractures. I didn't love them.....heavier and not so stylish, but they made my foot feel better and that is all that mattered as I just want to keep running. I got these and at first hated them. Not cushioned at all, Quite stiff. But I was determined to give them a try. After a week of breaking them in, I am beginning to enjoy them. But I am now looking for another highly cushioned shoe to protect my feel. I run a lot every day and need something to protect my pounding, flat feet. Might go back to the Kayanos or try the Nimbus. The Foundation 8's were the BEST. Wish they still had that one.

Gel Evolution 6 was better
When I first ordered this shoe, I ordered a 10 medium, and it had a very narrow fit. Then I ordered the wide version, it was too wide. I tried to wear a sock in the wide, it felt like the my feet were moving around alot. I tried to put my custom orthotic in 10 medium, and it helped some, but still really not comfortable. I like to walk/run about 4 miles a day. This shoe does not have the cushioning and the comfort level the previous shoe (Gel Evolution 6) they made for flat feet. The color of this shoe is very pretty purple and gray, but the comfort level is another story.

Sock it to these Shoes!
This is a good motion control shoe that combines a light weight feel of a stability shoe with the increased support for overpronating. Most motion control shoes are clunky and feel akin to cement blocks with shoe laces. I use these for powerwalking and visits to the gym. My only complaint is the narrow toe box and all-around smaller fit; however, a few tweeks with a lighter sock adjusted the fit. I have found that the right choice of socks can often determine the effectiveness of a shoe which might be too big when increasing a 1/2 size or width.

Sadly will be returning these
I wore the Gel Evolution series for years due to low arches, over pronation, plantar facititis and bunions. They are the best motion control shoes I ever found after much trial and error. I could always get a good fit by removing the Asics insoles and replacing them with my custom orthotic insoles. Unfortunately, the Evolution has been discontinued and the Forte doesn't have enough room in the toe box (even in D width) to accomodate my orthotic. My toes hit the top of the shoe and its quite uncomfortable even though its only mesh on top. Wish Asics had not changed the design. Back to the drawing board for me.

Great shoe, not identical to Evolution
I really like these shoes. I like them better than the Gel Evolution, which I had previously. They are lighter and more agile, fit comfortably and snugly, and provide very firm support and pronation control. I also like that the shoes are not institutional gray... However, I do think the cushioning is less than with the Evolution, and that the shoes are not as wide as the Evolution. These aren't problems for me--I need structure more than cushioning, and my feet are normal to narrow--but may be for some others.
Not a great motion control shoe
I wanted a replacement for the Gel Foundations that are no longer available, but this shoe is not working for me. While I do have a narrow heel and I am an overpronator with flat feet. I also have bunions on my big toes which are squeezed by the narrow front part of the shoe. This shoe also doesn't have the arch support the Foundations had either. I don't feel I could run the long distances that I did in my Foundations. I am very disappointed and am searching once again for a different shoe. Asics, please try again!
For severe pronation.
I consider myself a moderate to sever overpronator. I have been wearing the foundation 10 and moved to this when they were discontinued. This shoe is much more stable than the foundations. It offers much more pronation control. It was too much for me. If you are severely pronated you'll probably like this shoe. If you're looking for a replacement for the foundations this may be a bit much for you. I am a physical therapist and I will likely recommend these to only my severe cases.

Great support for an overpronator
I have tried a lot of shoes to control my overpronation. I have been running about 20-25 miles per week in these shoes, plus circuit training, and I have noticed a major difference. They are comfortable and make me feel supported. There is not a lot of arch support but surprisingly my arches could care less! I think the overall stability of the shoe makes my feet/ankles/knees feel pretty darn good.
lolo likes to jog
I like the Gel forte. I have been wwearing the Gel Evolution for years. I am glad these ones finally got some color in them, the evolutions were very bland.
These fit me just right. I do find the cushioning is less than the Gels. The balls of my foot have gotten sore...don't think I would use these for long runs. These feel much lighter and a little faster. Overall though I do like these.
I was leery having to change from the Gel Evolution 6 to the Gel Forte, but my fears were quickly erased after my first run! The Forte is lighter than the Evolution and they were so comfy, right from my first run! My 3rd run in my new Fortes was a half marathon, and I had no problems at all. Thanks, Asics, for another awesome shoe!!

Not a replacement for Evolution
I got these as a replacement for my beloved Asics Gel Evolution, which I had worn since 2005.
These are NOT a good replacement. They just did not feel right on my feet....didn't feel like they corrected my pronation, much narrower toe box, and they just felt strangely stiff.
I'm sending them back. Trying some Brooks.

I got my Asic gel with support as recommended by my sport's medicine doctor to take care of my flat feet. I'm not overweight, but I did get the weight support option. I ordered a half size too big and my normal size. I had to return my normal size shoe, (for store credit).
The color is cool and the support is fantastic.
I didn't want to do a motion control shoe. They are so clunky and large not this one. For the price it worked for me. No plantar fasciitis pain since I have worn this shoe. I was in newtons before and loved them but I had to have more support. So far so good .
These shoes are the best!
Asics Gel Forte have amazing motion control features. I run 9 miles in them everyday. I have a narrow ankle, and these shoes feel very snug around my ankle. I weigh 100lbs, and theses shoes are definitely not to heavy for my body size. No complaints.
Not the shoe for me!,
If you are a runner that needs motion control tennis shoes, stick with ASics Evolution 6. These shoes are very uncomfortable, not enough cushion. I have a wider foot, the shoes feel narrow. If you need pronation control, it works! My left foot is sore!
I tried getting my size 7.5 feet in a 8.0 shoe, but I couldn't. Before I returned the shoes, I decided to try again. Was able to wear and had wiggle room in the toes. Since it is a perfect fit, I don't know if I can add an arch support insert.
I have the flattest feet
Found out I had to choose a 'motion control' shoe in a D width and wasn't impressed with the choices until I came across the Asics Forte's. They are cute and don't feel like bricks on my feet. 20 miles in...so far so good.
great looking shoe, but not for me.
of note; i would say these run true to size, so that by ordering up as advised, i got a shoe that was just too big overall. i didn't feel mush cushioning, especially under the ball of my foot, where i need it more. i returned them.
Great stability shoe for runners
Ever since I began running I've always had good luck with Asics and their stability shoes. I wear a size 10 in street shoes but an 11 in these to allow for plenty of room for my toes. I overpronate and these shoes give me the stability I need.
Paid attention and am glad I did
I did my homework before ordering these shoes. I'm so glad I did. I really like these shoes, but I probably wouldn't had I not gone up a half size and width. These are some of the cuter shoes in the Motion Control + family.
Not many choices, so...
As a over-pronator, I just don't have many choices for motion control shoes. I have bought the expensive ones, only to find that they never last any longer than about 3 months. So, this is my second pair of the Asics Gel Forte.
Second pair and loving them
I run about 40 miles a week on pavement. I wear orthotics and need a bigger toe box. I have only worn motion control shoes for the last 20 years, and these shoes are some of the best for motion control and fit.
These shoes have helped to cure my planter fasciitis. This shoe has a stiff bottom which has proved to be exactly what my foot needed. They are not heavily padded, but are really comfortable. I would purchase these again.
This is my second pair of these shoes. I remembered to go up to a D width and they fit perfectly. Most shoes in this category are big and clunky and look like mens. These are the cutest ones out there.
These shoes are too narrow in the toe area. I've tried running in them for 3 weeks and have had nothing but blisters on my toes. I ordered the widest width available. I normally don't need to do that.

These shoes were the right length but too narrow in the toes; just a little pinchy. the support, arch, everything else was right, just not wide enough, even though I ordered the wide shoe.
Better than I thought
I am giving this shoe a second look. I really like the great motion control of this shoe. The cushioning is very different than the evolution but I think I really like this shoe
I loved the gel evolutions. Terrific cushioning. Can not say the same about these. They have very good motion control but they feel stiff
Don't like the color!!
I found the toe box narrower than previous Asics I have owned.
good mobility control!!
I don't like the color but no other choices.
