I love love love Asicis. I use to buy the Nimbus but around 14 or so, they just weren't as cushioned so I switched to Kinsei. My first two pairs were great and truly lasted close to 600 miles. My last pair isn't even at 300 miles and they are already wore out. The toe area is stretched snd falling apart and I am getting lots of aches and pains like I get when it is time for new shoes. If shoes weren't $200ish then that would be different but for the price I expected to get at least 500 miles!

Long run disaster!
I loved the look and feel of these when I tried them on. Oh how I wanted to love running in them. And I did - when my distance was 3-4 miles only on my short weekday runs. However once I put them on and ran an 8 mile longer run on the weekend the pain was overwhelming. My entire leg from knee down was throbbing and I thought I'd ended up with achilles tendonitis. As it turns out it wasn't that serious but I believe the problem comes from the weight and the inflexibility of this shoe. I'm a neutral runner and this shoe feels more like a stability shoe on - and it doesn't seem to flex enough or give enough support. I can't say it is the cushioning but somehow it just feels like you have so much weight on your feet, particular in the heel area, that it makes it hard to run long distances. They are super comfortable and would be a great walking shoe or short distance shoe perhaps but I'm training for a half marathon and a tri so these won't work.
The best shoe ever!!!
I was apprehensive at first about buying such expensive shoes but was curious as to what they could offer. I went out on my first run and was blown away. I tend to suffer from chronic pain on the ball of my foot which is particularly exacerbated during running. However during the run and even after the run the pain was not there. The shoe seems to diffuse the impact so that no one part of the foot bears the brunt of the impact. My sister suffers from the same problem on the ball of her foot so I will have to get her a pair. I can't wait until she gives me her feedback. I'm sure she will be just as amazed as I was.
Wonderful cushioning, just wish they lasted longer!
I wore the Gel-Nimbus 15 before purchasing the Kinsei. They were so comfortable right out of the box! I have extreme degenerative joint disease so I am always looking for shoes with a high level of cushioning. These shoes have that in spades! They are breathable and my feet are never hot or sweaty. Unfortunately, the mesh started ripping over the toe box after about 3 weeks. From the reviews, it looks like I'm not the only person to have this issue. For the money, these shoes need to last longer than 3 weeks. Thank goodness for the VIP club! They are going back.
Toe bed is flimsy, started to tear within 1 month on 2 pairs
I love the Gel-Kinsei shoe, but versions 2, 3 and 4 were fantastic. When the cushioning wore out, the shoe itself endured and I still wear my old sneakers for casual wear. The 5 started to tear in 3 places on both feet (toe bed, and at the 1st and 5th metatarsal phalangeal regions). I got a replacement after 3 months and it happened again. I need new sneakers, but I'm holding out, hoping the 6 will be released soon with improvement in the durability. I only would recommend the shoe with reservation. It was great. I'm waiting for them to rework the fabric to actually hold up to use.
Waiting for upgrades in Albany
Love This Shoe
I've always loved Asics running shoes, but I've found the last few pairs I purchased didn't seem to be of the usual Asics quality. I've been running in the Kayano lately, but felt they lacked the cushioning previous pairs had. I was really disappointed so I switched to Sauconys for a while, but I wasn't sold on those either. I decided to try these and fell in love with them the first time I ran in them. I'm 48 and run between 3 & 5 miles about 5 days per week. If my shoes aren't good, my knees start to hurt. I feel like I've found my favorite shoe again!!
I've always been a Mizuno fan, but lately have had a bad "run" of Mizunos so I decided to try asics. These felt amazing my first few runs. I ran 5 miles right out of the box and have been wearing them for several weeks running 4-9miles at a time. The initial "amazing" cushioning already feels to be decreasing which is a let down. I've started to get more knee pain and I hope its not because of this. I wish they didn't change my old mizunos! Overall, these shoes are great initially, but I'm concerned with their durability. I guess time will tell soon!
I had come to love the Kinsei line for the comfort & CUSHIONING. I purchased multiple pairs of the Kinsei 4's and we're all I used for Marathon training. My feet are sensitive and NEVER hurt.. they were perfect. Whatever changes they have made to the new 5's in the sole & cushion was a mistake. Just used them to run a Half and my feet hurt. They changes to the upper we're very nice. But I pay high dollar for these shoes for the extra CUSHIONING!! The new ones are not worth the money.
$200 shoes that fall apart?!
I'm very upset that I've only worn these shoes about five times and the upper near the toe box is already ripped! For a $200 pair of shoes, that should NOT happen. Besides that though, the shoe is extremely comfortable and the cushion is great. It's not as heavy as it looks and I'm very happy with the shoes, besides the ripping issue. Looks like I'm not the only one with this issue either, which is unfortunate!
Wanted to like these shoes
I ran in the previous version of this shoe for some time without any issues. A couple days ago I put this newer version on and went out for a 3 mile run. Starting out I felt that the shoe had a firmer feel than it's predecessor, but I wanted to give this shoe a chance, so I went the 3 miles. Big mistake...my knees have been killing me since I finished that run. Not a good shoe for me. Going back to my Kinsei 4's
Really like these shoes. Comfortable, well cushioned and flexible. Good arch support for my high arches
What a shoe!
This shoe is very comfortable, roomy without being too big, structured and cushioned, but not noticeably so.
I feel like this shoe will be durable, and last me at least 400 miles, which I couldn't say about my last 2 pairs of asics, the gel-lyte, and the fuji something-or-other which both lasted only 300 and 250 respectively.
You won't be disappointed.
Not a huge runner but I am on my feet for 13 hours shifts, These were the most comfortable, lightweight, & cushioned shoes. Wore these several days in a row and not once did they rub my feet wrong nor were my feet sore at the end of the day. Definitely my favorite pair of shoes & love the color!!
Feels Great until Mile 3
These shoes felt great until mile 3 each time. The cushioning on these shoes is just not enough to be labeled a "neutral PLUS" shoe. I am disappointed as they feel great until about 30 minutes into running. Then your feet just feel the "lack of cushioning" on the asphalt especially.
I love the Kinsei running shoe!!! Price often holds me back and I get the nimbus shoe instead. Couldn't resist when the Kinsei went on sale. I have had my fastest 4 mile runs since getting them. The colors just scream let's go run!!!
there is no reinforced toe....
The toe on the Kinsei is not reinforced so after just 2 months my big toe has pushed through the top of the shoe and it is now ripped! :( I do love the feel of the shoe and have been wearing them for a long time....I wish they would fix this....it use to be reinforced!
Great narrow sized running shoe
Great fit for narrow width running shoe. I didn't feel comfortable running with these shoes. It like there wasn't enough cushion on the palmer surface . Great for work though due to good foot support.
Really like them
I use these for everyday workouts. Weight class, a little running, and a variety of other things. Really like them.
Love my new shoes ¿
Love the shoes
Sue the class gal
Very happy with product and service.
GREAT SHOE! Light and very comfortable
I use the show about 3 time a week for cardio workouts primarily but not for my weightlifting. It is very light and allows me to do various workouts at a faster pace (treadmill or elliptical) The cost is worth the overall benefits of fit and comfort. I would buy this show again and would recommend it to friends.
