As usual love the quality and support of Asics. Nothing beats the cushy comfort that moves with your foot and has great arch and forefoot support! My favorite Gel Kayano was the 18. It was a touch wide in the toe, but length good. The 19 was not as good support in the toe bed and felt about 1/4" longer than the 18. The 20 is so pretty, but definitely different than both previous styles. The cut of the shoe is more streamlined and straight from heal to toe...fitting great for my average/narrow foot, but still remains about 1/4-1/2" long feeling in toe. (I am between an 8 1/2 and 9, so purchased the 9. I'm new to jogging and must say when I run this may be good. I'm still figuring that out as it is suggested on running sites to fit your shoes about 1/2-1 size larger because your feet swell when you run and you also don't want to jam your toes in the toe box. I am waiting on the Brookes Trance 12 to compare as Brookes tend to fit me a bit shorter/true to size, but we'll see if the workmanship/quality are as nice as Asics. They are really well made and look like new even when old. I purchased the 20's in the black/neon green/purple and LOVE them. Will hate to part with that color if the Brookes are a better length. I will add that the Road Runner sales lady sold me on a couple pair of "Bounce" Inserts and they do help take up a bit of the extra nooks and crannies in the shoe, and add bounce/cush to extend the life of the shoe even more. Beautiful shoe! We'll see what happens!!
After 3 runs, I love them
I have done 3 runs in these since I received them last week and feel compelled to comment on them. I usually wait till I have done 50 miles or so before I review. I have run in Kayanos for many years now. They have always been my go to shoe for half marathon distance and up. I was disappointed in the 18 incarnation and thought the 19's lacked a little bit of cushioning in the forefoot. I took these 20's out of the box and ran 6 miles in perfect comfort. Cushioned well and my feet felt great afterwards. My other runs in these were a 3 and a 4 miler. Asics just seem to fit my feet better than other brands. I wear a 9-9 1/2 in street shoes and I purchased a 10 in these and they feel just right. Most of the shoes I have are bright colors, usually some kind of pink, orange or purple so I decided to try something different and I went with the blue and gold. Although similar to the boring blue and silver Asics hung with for what seemed like forever, the gold does jazz them up a little bit. I will probably purchase another pair in a different color though. Living in Oklahoma, the red dirt can be a challenge to keeping a white shoe clean looking so I may regret my color choice on down the road (no pun intended) I have a half marathon in November and plan to wear these. I usually like to purchase a shoe about a month before I run a race in them. I'm a slow runner these days so my feet need the extra cushioning and support for the longer time on my feet. I think Asics did a great job with these.
Great for distance running
I wore these shoes right out of the box for a 12-mile run, and LOVE them. The cushioning is just right for running distances, and not too heavy to make the shoe impractical. I have small feet for my height and very high arches (one of my feet is also fused from past surgery, so I have chronic foot pain/issues) -- I wear a size 6.5 regular, sometimes wide, street shoe. I buy Asics a full size up (7.5), and in wide because I need the room for my toes, and they always fit perfectly. I replace the insoles that come with the shoes with orthotics that have extra arch support, and I also add gel heel seats, and everything fits great. I'm a distance runner, averaging 35 miles or more per week, and run marathons. I love Asics. I had always worn the GT-2000, but after reading reviews for the Kayano thought I'd try it because I was starting to experience more foot and knee pain than in the past, even with my GT-2000s. I am so glad I did. The extra cushioning is noticeable and, for me, makes the transition in my stride smoother and saves my feet. The cushioning in these shoes make them feel a bit heavier than the GT-2000s, but I don't mind because after mile 8+ my feet and legs still feel as good as they did at mile 1. That didn't happen even with my beloved GT-2000s. I still have GT-2000s as my back-up running shoe, but I love these Kayanos so much I think I'll be switching to them exclusively going forward.
Try on in store first!
First, let me say that I love how cushy these shoes are! My husband bought me a pair for Christmas - they were on my list. The white with pink accents shoe is just gorgeous and when I put them on to walk around the house, I realized that I needed to replace my current shoes immediately, even though I've been running on them since the middle of September.
My one caveat would be to recommend that people try them on first. I wear a 7.5 or 8 in street shoes and an 8.5 in running shoes, so thought an 8.5 in these should fit perfectly. To my sadness, they run long. And since my hubby bought them at a place I can't exchange them, I've decided to make do. I took them on an 8 mile run today, and my right foot was moving around in the shoe and my right heel was lifting, no matter how I adjusted the laces and it only got worse as the run went on. My left foot is a smudge bigger than my right, so while there was plenty of room in the toe, my foot still stayed anchored in the shoe. I need a stability + shoe, and having a shoe that slips around defeats the purpose and my foot was tired by the end of the run from trying to grip the shoe. I'm going to try an add-in heel liner to see if that helps, but I don't think that I'll ever wear this pair for distance runs or races and use them for my shorter 3 mile runs instead and buy a pair in size 8 for longer runs and races.
Love the Kayano 20s!
I love these Kayano 20s! I run short and long distances and am prone to injury. Have always worn Brooks Adrenaline's, as I need a support shoe. Thought I'd try something different. Tried the Kayano-19 when they first came out and they were awful. No cushion or support and tore up quickly. So I went back to Brooks but after awhile wanted to try something new and these were on sale so I tried them. They are perfect for me. And TOTALLY different from the 19s. My knees start to ache when I need new shoes. I ordered these, they shipped super-fast, and I wore them immediately. No problems, knees no longer hurt, very comfortable. I love that they come in narrow, which I need. I will def order them again. I know newer versions of the Kayano Gel are out there but you can't beat the price of this model and they are fantastic.
The golden child of running shoes
I run everything from road marathon, to 68 mile trail ultra in these shoes. I've run in Asics since the high school days. In college, we had a shoe sponsor and as soon as I could pick my own shoes again, I was back on the Asics. This model in particular, is the sweetest ride ever. I have mutant narrow feet and need a snug 2A fit and since no trail shoes have this, I run trail ultras in this amazing road shoe. I love it. The support, overall ride, is AMAZING! I am not a fashion runner, I'm all about the function. And the functionality of this shoe, is beyond worth it. I promate and have pretty flat feet, this shoe guides you along the way and is hands down my go to. Stop reading this and submit the order;-)Happy running...

Love, love, love!,
My first running shoe I was professionally fitted for was a GT-2160. They were perfect and I couldn't quite ever find a replacement. I tried Kayano 19, which I hated due to the lack of cushioning, kinsei which didn't have quite enough stability, and multiple 2100 versions. I most recently used the mizuno wave inspire but was having lots of pain. As soon as RRS got the Kayano 20, I wanted to try it. Problem was I had a half marathon in a week. But I ordered them & had a gait analysis which showed they provided excellent stability. So I broke the cardinal rule and wore brand new shoes for a race. They were fantastic! No blisters, no pain (other than the regular :-) and I'm in heaven. I plan to order a few more pairs so I don't ever have to experiment again!
Stopped my pronation
I've loved my Nimbus since the 12, but I've been rather injury prone in my right ankle/foot. At this most recent go-around at physical therapy, he videoed my run and found I was pronating on that right foot and dropping my hip, which wasn't the case last time I was videoed several years ago. He suggested a stability shoe, and I picked this one as it seemed most comparable to my Nimbus.
After two weeks he did another video and the pronation was GONE! My hip still drops slightly, but my PT exercises are helping that.
I haven't run much more than a couple of miles at a time in this new shoe, but I haven't had any pain since I was cleared to run two weeks ago.
Just like my Nimbus starting at the Nimbus 14, I have to go a 1/2 size up.

Best Shoe Ever!
I'm a nike fan and have avoided other brands for years. But I succumbed to the trend, and bought this shoe after seeing it everywhere! Many of my favorite trainers have been spotted with these shoes so I decided to give them a try. Wow! I am so pleased. I workout everyday doing high impact cardio and muscle work, and I think this shoe gives me the best bounce ever! Also, I have not had any blistering on my toes, as I do with other runners; my foot is well supported; and the colors are fabulous. I love seeing these shoes in the mirror as I workout - somehow this provides me with motivation to push harder. I think I'm a convert. Thanks Asics and Road Runner Sports for the great price.
Love the fabric of this shoe. Have run in Brooks Adrenalines for years, and although those have been great stability shoes the tongues always bugged me-dug into the bones on the top of my foot. The tongue design and fabric of this shoe mean no more pain there. First shoes I have had you can actually feel the Cush when you step in them. They seem a bit long, but that makes for a lot of room in the toe box when running. Have logged probably 25 miles in these so far and they feel great. Looking forward to more miles. I am a triathlete, have run several 1/2 marathons, Training for my first marathon in December, think I will finish it without black toenails!
I am an avid runner and duathlete who does several big races a year, including a marathon. In addition to running approximately 35 km per week year round, I also wear these shoes on daily 3-5 km walks with my dog. I've been wearing Kayanos for about 4 years and have always been super pleased. They are comfortable, durable and offer the right amount of support. I live in Canada where we have harsh, cold winters and these shoes consistently hold up to the snow and salt. The Kayano 20 doesn't disappoint... After wearing 2 pairs for the past two months, I just ordered a 3rd pair.
Ottawa, ON, Canada
I bought these as a trial everyday (days off) shoe--since I have the trail shoes. Boy was I surprised! The fit was great--the comfort was immediate--and the support/cushioning was fabulous. I may order these to try as my work shoes (I usually wear NB to work)--as I am a nurse and on my feet all day--with all the foot problems that go with the job. I wear orthotics and no problem. By the way--keep up the fabulous colors--I hate that many brands think female=pink or some combo thereof--mine are black and blue and purple. Be back for more!
i have bee running for 30 years,(alot of sneakers),i always said"you just know as soon as you put them on".ive had every asics gel kayano ,and when the 21 came out i ran to the store.smaller toe box, just not rite for me. my fourth pair of 20s was a gift from my husband on xmas. they make me feel like im flying.i love them, and him for knowing the best. a few weeks ago i panicked there wood be no more in my size and again he ordered. these sneakers to me are the best. no need for 21!!!!! if you loved the 18,19.dont hesitate,,, you will love the 20s enjoy
I'm 6' 170 pounds and run with orthodics. I bought the white/pink size 12D. I wish they'd make more D's in size 12 but I'm happy with the white/pink. I LOVE these new 20's. I've ran in 16, 18 & 19's and this is (besides 16) my favorite Asics model! I started out doing 3 mile runs 3 times a week to get them broke in. Then ran a long run and they were super! Very light feel to them and felt like they were giving me a tad of bounce to get me moving right along. If they had 12D in another color I'd buy a 2nd pair.

Everything I was looking for in one shoe
I had not used the Asics Gel Kayano since model 14. I was looking for a stable, comfortable, cushioned shoe that was light weight and flexible, yet good arch support. I was amazed at how comfortable this shoe was right out of the box. The stability was great, and the cushion was "cushy", and even the heel around the ankle was very soft and flexible. It is comfortable for road running, treadmill, and walking for long distances. I also love the new colors.
I have run in the Kayano 17s, 18s, and 19s. I have currently been wearing the 18s because I thought the 19s were not nearly as cushioned. Today was my first run in the 20s and I was impressed. I usually have some discomfort breaking in new shows, even in my 18s. These were great. The cusioning is much more like the 18s. The only con is I think it feels a tad bit big. I usually wear a 10 in most shoes but buy a 10.5 in the Kayano. It still fits great and feels great though. I will definitly be buying another pair!
Lace up and go!
I've been running in Asics for about 15 years and they have never failed! I love the Kayano's for their comfort and dependability. Straight from the box, I lace up and hit the road and they always perform well - no break in period necessary! I love the new colors they've been putting out the past couple of years vs. the old boring white with blue stripes. Can't wait to run my half marathon in my new flashy pink pair of Kayano's! Order a size up...I normally wear a 7 but in Asics I wear an 8.
Running for life
Would buy again (and I did, 3 more)
I've been a fan of Gel Kayano since I've bought the 14's and have bought almost nothing but Kayano since then. The 20's are my absolute favorites. So much so, that I've already bought 4 pair. I use them everyday for work (i'm a nurse on my feet walking all day) and for kick boxing at the gym. My fav color is the combo orange/pink. I love the support. Many people feel better a half a size up. I didn't need to and am very happy with the fit.
Great Neck, New York
I've been running in Saucony Hurricanes. I wasn't crazy about the latest model. I've read great things about Asics, so decided to try these. I run about 20-25 miles per week, I have had plantar fascitis, shin splints and tendonitis in my foot and knee. I overpronate and currently have a Morton's Neuroma. I am 5'4" 130 lbs. I love love love these shoes. I ran 11.5 miles the first time I wore them. Super comfortable! Great support and plenty of room in the toe box so my nerve doesn't get pinched. Plus they look super cool!!! I highly recommend these shoes!!!
Plan to buy another pair
I read other reviews stating these shoes run a bit long. I ordered my regular size and one half size smaller. Will be returning the smaller size. For me, these do run true to size however they are a tad looser than my Nike's and Saucony's. The cushioning and support are great. I would probably rate them a 5 star but am waiting to see how they hold up. But so far this is the best shoe I have run in....no knee pain afterwards!
Everything I expected
Hands down the most comfortable asics running shoe I have purchased. I have worn SEVERAL other types of asics running shoes, usually in their light-weight series. The stability and pronation control are excellent with this shoe. I stayed with "true to size" but ordered according to the 1/2 size up rule. I have only had these for a few weeks now, so it's hard to comment on durability in the long run. HIGHLY recommend thus far!

Best Kayano (in my running history)
I am a high mileage runner with high arches, and running in the Kayanos has helped to keep me injury free (knock on wood!) for one whole year! I like the 20s because of the added forefoot cushioning, which is nice for a mid-foot striker like me. I both train and race in these shoes, most recently finishing a marathon in 3:29:46 (Booyah!). They're definitely not your grandma's stability shoe. (Although your grandma would totally love them!)

I Love These Sneakers!
I run primarily on paved roadways and these sneakers provide the perfect amount of support, cushioning and comfort. I owned a pair of the Gel-Kayano 18s and they were pretty good. The Gel-Kayano 19s were horrible and I sent them back after one run. The Gel-Kayano 20s are more like the 18s, but have an even better fit and feel for running. This is definitely the best running shoe I have purchased in a long time.

Best shoe ever!
I run marathons and train exclusively in ASIC Gel Kayanos. I had the 19 before this and was worried about possible changes to the shoe but this sneaker did NOT Disappoint. It is light, comfortable, and provides good support. I have almost no arch in my foot and these are perfect.
The only issue I have had is the shoelaces coming undone during runs but I plan to try lace locks to fix that problem.
Disappointed with the Kayano 20
I have run in the Kayano since 2009. I have always loved this shoe until this year. The Kayano 20 does not seem to be of the same quality as previous models. It wears out faster (ie. holes in the mesh only after a few months). I hope Asics redesigns the Kayano or reverts back to the design of previous models, or I might be looking for a different shoe. Still is a comfortable shoe but does not last as long as I had hoped.

A little bit of heaven for the feet
These shoes are perfect in every way. They are comfortable as well as functional. I have arthritis in the big toe and this shoe offers enough cushion that my foot is not throbbing after a run. The Kayano 20 has enough room to accommodate my orthotics! I have worn Kayano's for over a decade and will not run in anything else. I hope that they come out with a green color combination for women!
Like running on clouds
I have been running in the 19's since spring 2013 after mizzuno discontinued the wave nirvana. Had no problems switching over to this shoe. I run 5-6 marathons per year and average 50-70 miles per week.....this update has a lot more cushioning and feels great. The fit feels the same as the 19. All of the fun colors are a bonus! Highly recommend these shoes to anyone running over 25 miles per week.

Great Great Shoe
I love these shoes. I have a hard time with my shoes because of foot problems. However this shoe fixes everything. I am a bit over weight but I love to walk. These shoes fit the bill. I call these shoes my Disneyland shoes, because they are the only shoe that I have found that let me spend a whole day walking around Disneyland with no pain or discomfort. Great comfort, great cushioning and great support.
Santa Monica, CA
I am a former college distance runner and now train for marathons, half marathons, and continue to run for my sanity. I love the kayano and this years update is great. Comfortable, good support, and flashy colors for this update! I spend the extra money on the kayano because I have been without injury since I have started wearing them which makes it so worth it. (I am prone to stress fractures and IT band problems.)
