For the price, a very good shoe. We're not competitive runners (although we frequently run IN competitive events), so "advanced" features aren't important, while fitness, endurance, etc are.
These shoes fit those needs very well. As one reviewer commented, a comfortable running shoe right out of the box. These seem like durable shoes although the trails we run are moderate, not aggressive and, again, our running is for staying in top shape as well as endurance. Fyi, another reviewer commented that these shoes "broke" on the 2nd use. We're not sure HOW these could "break" but if I had any kind of trouble with Asics shoes (or any brand for that matter) even with 3 months of use, Asics would get a scathing letter from me demanding replacement with an identical shoe or better.
We only run approx 20 miles a week (bicycling on alternate days) but we still purchased 4 pairs (each) of these to rotate and increase their lifespan.
If you're needs are for training, on moderate trails or pavement, we highly recommend these.
I bought these shoes based on prior positive experiences with Asics with stability, support, durability and comfort. My foot tends to limit my selection due to many shoes being too narrow. I'm a bigger guy and I run between 20-25 miles a week. Right out of the box the shoes felt like I'd been wearing them for a while. I didn't feel like I needed to break them in. Running on dirt, gravel and mud I found them to give me the support I needed and the traction for off-road running. The construction is solid and I think I only wish there was a slightly superior lacing system but that is gravy. I'm considering buying a second pair to throw into rotation which should speak to my feelings about the shoe. I've run these shoes on the road and off-road with equal success. Clean em up after running on the trail and they look brand new.
My Favorite for Stability and Comfort
My suite of ASICS consist of Scram (in brick red), Flash (in blue) and the Kahana 6 (in Kermit green!), and I rotate based on my workout focus in the gym; I work out moderately intense and can put any shoe to its test. On "legs and butt" days I wear the Kahana--they provide the stability, glove-like fit, and cushioning I need. For example, lately I squat 5 sets of 210 lbs, 10x, and weigh 197 lbs. These shoes aren't fazed by that much stress and strain at all. I am impressed, and will replace them as long as ASICS commits to continuing to make them. No other brands I've tried so far--and I've tried at least 6 major manufacturers--can come close. GREAT product, ASICS, thank you!

5'10" @ 190lbs and I run at least 8-10 miles a week.I bought these because I've had the Asics Kahana 4 and 5 previously.I was originaly issued these when I was in the Army.I've always used these for trail running because they were quite rugged and supportive with ample cushion.Well I was very disappointed with this new version. The Kahana 6 really is a far cry from its former self. I find it unsupportive to the point where I was getting shin splints and foot pain.I cant remember the last time I got shin splints..It may be some fancy new design for something but it's no good for what I want it for.I went back to my old 5 series pair and am now looking for a replacement outside the line. It's a shame really...

Good shoe for wide feet
I use these for trail running and the treadmill when the weather is bad. They're wide, well cushioned, and have good arch support. Im 205lb and have high arches, and they feel good. They seem to have more cushioning in the forefoot than other Asics FWIW..Yes, they do run 1/2 to a full size small, so order accordingly... (I buy other Asics models at 11, and New Balance at 10 1/2 FYI) They are a great shoe in 4E for wide feet, especially for the price.
Going on my 3rd pair
I go through these every 9 months due to the mileage, I do 3-8 mile runs 3-5 days a week and these are my 10 miler racing shoe. I do wish these were a tad lighter but for as much pounding these endure they're pretty forgiving as a heel striker.. Putting the 2nd pair to rest after last weekend's Annapolis 10 miler..
Good workhorse trail shoe for wide-footed runners
I'm generally running 40-60 miles per week with about two-thirds of that on trails that are rarely more than average difficulty for the mid-Atlantic region. Roots, stones, mud and streams. I'm six feet tall, and 190 lbs with 4E feet, and find the Kahane 6 work well for me. They are comfortable and breathable and I'm pretty happy with them. My only complaint would be that the shoes seem fragile at times. For example, each pair I've used (I rotate through 3 pairs) I've has had an issue with tread tearing within the first 100 miles. While the problem is easily (and permanently) fixed with Super Glue, that only works if you notice the problem before it's too late. Also, the uppers are wearing through on the pairs with just under 300 miles on them--that, however, may be normal. Overall, I'd say I'm fairly pleased with the Kahane 6.

Really bad shoe! It broke the second time I ran with it in a trail. Gives me bad foot pain.
