My wife and I got this when our son was 9 months and we've been running with him ever since (over a year). He is really comfortable in this thing, extremely roomy and even a lil' pocket inside for stowing his bottle, a back mesh pocket and a bottom container area that can hold probably 1.5 bags of groceries. Great for hikes even on more rugged terrain. Can go sand, but will require some work on your part (unless its wet, hard sand).
Only drawback is that b/c of its durability and ruggedness, it is a lil' large to stow (even when folded) and the front wheel doesn't move so turning is a lil' more work (by pushing down on handle to lift front wheel off the ground), but I've gotten use to it.
I've even sprinted using it with no worries for my son's safety. I've gone up and done hills running. I've done a 5k with him in it. Only drawback is if you're doing a big race with A LOT of people and you, then its a bit annoying maneuvering this thing around, unless you don't care running over slow runners! ;)
