I had the Ghost 4 and 5s for about 6 months, ran a few races in them (few halfs and a full with several PRs), and started developing a shin splint in my right leg that wouldn't go away. I liked the shoe but the arch support was bad for my foot. I'm about 6'1'', 168 lbs, and size 13 with higher arches. I run between 40 and 60 miles per week when in training and I like to run faster.
Well, I figured the shin splint was due to the arch support. I tried the Pure Connect 2 and immediately felt a difference. The shoe hugs my foot as if it was custom made and the low heal drop gives me more control over my landing. The sales person said they are relatively low arch, but the narrowness around the arch and the band around that area give them a more supportive feel. So, I bought them and ran a couple times so far and where's the pain? I know my shin isn't healed yet, but I'm stepping down each time and I'm not in pain anymore (with the Ghosts, I felt pain on the first step). These were great for my feet, which is a relief because I've already started my next marathon training. The foot will not slide around in these shoes.
The only possible issue I saw was the toe area is not as roomy as other shoes. I would recommend going 1/2 size up, but for me they don't make size 13.5 so I was fine with 13s. Also, I don't have wide feet (but not narrow either), so a person with wide feet may find these a little too much of a narrow fit.

Doesn't match up
First off, these are great looking shoes. Problem that I have with them is they were un-comfortable at least compared to the Nike Free 5.0. I've been running in Free's since 2010 and have been acclimated to this type of shoe. I went with the Brooks b/c I wanted to try something different, but with no real reason. Both are performance Neutral shoes but the Brooks feels way different. In comparison they feel stiff, the arch support is too high and that combination made it a pretty un-comfortable shoe. Though I will say that I'm more used to a higher heel-toe drop with the Free's compared to these Connects. I run anywhere between 3-10 miles at a time and usually total about 26 miles week. With the first and only week of the Brooks Connect I experienced blisters an toe pain at the joint of my big toe. Going back to the Nike Free 5.0. I give it 2 stars b/c they look good lol.
new running / trainer for me
keeping good form so injury and impact is low is important at 260lb. . Newton's didn't hold up over 130miles (weather and weight probably)so I started looking. I tried the original pure connect on but there was a little roll in the jog inside the store- The fit of the 2 was excellent all around with one heel slightly smaller due to injury there was actually nothing needed with these shoes (no ortho needed with this). Wear is good 70 miles in. I switched to Yankz as laces became twisted. Otherwise the lacing system does a great job.
Over all a great shoe - light break in time
This is a fantastic pair of shoes!!!
The Brooks Pure Connect 2 product has proven to be the best performance shoe I have purchased in years. Its arch support alone has provided a well cushioned ride that has me running farther and longer. My physique is that of a 255lb ex-linebacker, and let me tell you, its darn tough pounding my feet take while I am training. In short, the Pure Connect 2 is the real deal for me and I will purchase another pair when these guys wear out!!!

Bought Pure Connect to replace discontinued Green Silence and am so impressed. Soft, suple, light and breathable. Totally promotes mid foot strike and most comfortable. Ran marathon after just 2 short runs in them and was incredible. Fast and comfortable the whole way with no hotspots or soreness day after. Conforms to arch and foot shape like a dream. Usually wear 10.5 but hat to go up to an 11 to get correct fit. Try them out!

Love to run in these!
I'm new to Brooks, and have worn only one other manufacturer since beginning distance running (3 years). These are light, comfortable, and very breathable. No blisters (using the R Gear no show socks). Can be worn with or without socks and I have less knee/joint pain after long runs 12-15 miles. I do not over-pronate or heel strike, so the fit and function for my style is wonderful.
not a bad experience so far
20 miles in Went from Newtons motion to these not a lot of adjustment needed. Slightly narrower in toe box (between a nike and newton shoe in same size). didn't matter plenty of room for me. Better fit actually with higher arch support and feel in heel as it is slightly tighter seems to snug up with this lacing, unlike trying to lace various ways. 250lbs and decreasing - 5'11" - 51 - average 15 miles a week till it warms up.
Decided to try a pair of these after the mediocre experience of the Pure Flow. They are bedroom slipper comfy, but feel very narrow soled and have absolutely no traction. Only wear these on dry surfaces! The sole is a bit stiff and you don't get quite the close feel of the ground. I sent these back and am returning to the Skechers Go-Run. Sorry, Brooks! I am 6'2", 200#, size 13 and run 25-30 miles a week.
These shoes are great! I just ran in the Kinvara 3s and these have a similar feel. These are great shoes for everyday training and if u r like me and have collapsing arches these r good for strengthening them.over great shoe and very lightweight and comfortable. I wish they had some better colors but this does not change my opinion of this shoe.
I am 6'3'' 200 lbs and I love this shoe. I normally have a hard time running long distances in a show this light. I have not had any problems running 10 mi plus. This shoe is fast but still cushions you foot enough to run longer distances. I have a wide toe box and I bought the medium width and it fits very comfortably. I would buy another pair when these wear out.
I'm planning to buy another pair
Very comfortable. I switched to minimalist running about a 18 months ago. I was using New Balance Minimus trail running shoes, but the sole were so thin, my feet, especially the arches and achilles tendon were aching every day. Switching to the Brooks has made a big difference - most of my aches and pains have gone away
I recently changed from stability shoes to a neutral shoe to match my preference for minimalist style. These shoes served that purpose admirably. The only complaint I have is that the arches feel very high in these shoes. The toe box is wide enough for my toes to spread on the strike and weight is excellent.
The Missing Link
Did three training runs in these and then ran a half-marathon last week in them. Comfortable through the whole race. They fit so nicely that I think that they were custom made for my foot. Cushioning is just about right. Great minimalist feel. This is the best-fitting pair of Brooks I've ever had.

Neutral low profile trainer
Very lightweight and flexible but enough cushion for mid distance. Probably not a great shoe for slower training and favors a neutral, mid-foot striker. Minimalist without feeling minimal. Biggest con is that they are worthless in snow, or on poor slippery conditions.
Excellent running shoes!
With over 400 miles on the shoes of great comfortable running, the shoes are still in great shape. One of the best running shoes I have purchased. The mid strike form provide a great running platform with great shoes from a less traditional shoe. A+
these are the best shoe on the market
I cannot believe these shoes recieved a negative review! they are good looking, ultra comfortable, very light weight and perform great in race scenariose. only problem is they are a little slick in wet weather.
These shoes feel custom made
These are the best running shoes I've ever tried. I can't imagine wearing any other shoe after buying these. I didn't even need to break them in. I would highly recommend these to anyone.
Happy with purchase
I like this shoe due to it's light weight and forefoot cushioning. I mainly run with it on the treadmill or for 4-5 mile runs. I do not over pronate so it is a good fit for me.
Running 50 year old
Love these shoes.
My favorite shoes so far. Light and minimalist style. The fit is slightly narrow and the break-in took a little bit longer than other shoes I have used.
These shoes were recommended for my half marathon by road runner and I love them.
jim the runner
Really great shoe. Coming back for more once they wear out.
Long Beach, CA
They feel great with my long distance runs and sprints
Great Lightweight and Flexible
Will buy again
Best shoe so far
Switched from kinvara because they changed the shoe :(
I am training for the Vegas marathon and I love this shoe due to the light weight and comfort. Training includes road and trails, with steep ascents/descents and the shoes have really held up with all the mileage. Highly recommended for someone going to minimals!
