Great shoe

Overall, I think this is a great shoe. Very comfortable and I have had no pain other than normal soreness at all since I purchased them. This includes some long runs (5-7 miles for me) and even a fast mile. They do feel heavy, which I think is partly because I'm used to a slightly more minimalist shoe (less shoe overall and definitely lighter than these). My previous shoes have been around the 7 ounce mark or so, and this is 9.2 so it's a big jump. That said, I'm also heavier than I used to be, so I'm not sure how much that has played into it. My only complaints are the weight, and the fact that I like to tie them tight and when I do this, the position of the shoelace (where it ends) hurts my foot. I imagine this may not be an issue for some other runners, but they are definitely comfortable and any time I am pain free, that's great.

PureCadence 2 takes a step back

3

I have the original PureCadence running shoe and I love them. When the soles started to wear from excess miles I had my mind made up on the PureCadence 2, but the changes to the upper had me return them after just 3 runs! The laces are a new zigzag design and I found that I had to lace them pretty tightly to keep the shoe secure. If not, my heel would move. Also, the mesh fabric around the toe started to pop as the shoe flexed. Thought it may have been due to my inserts, but nope, it continued to do that with the originals. The entire bottom part of the shoe is basically unchanged from the first version, but the upper is lacking in my opinion; not a bad shoe, just not as good as its predecessor.

Not as good as version 1

These replaced Pure Cadence 1 which i used to train and run in two nyc 1/2 marathon's. I am on my third pair of v2 and i have had the same issue with all 3 and that is initial soreness/irritation on the outside of the foot where the stability band is. I am not the first to have this issue. The shoes are softer than similar performance stability shoes, which i like. I am not a fan of the design and the color choices but I didnt buy them to wear with jeans, etc (but it would be nice to do so after I retire a pair). i'm trying other similar shoes to see if i can find a similar feel without the outside irritation issue. I run about 20-25 miles a week, all on the road. Outside of the issue listed, i've had no other problems.

Brooks PureCadence2! Sweet!!!!

5

I've ran in many Brooks models, as well as Newtons, Mizuno's and Montrails (trail shoes). The new PureCadence2 are butter!!! I'm 6'3" and roughly 200lb. Running 35-50 miles a week. These shoes peformed very well. I've probably got 40-50 miles on them already. Short speedwork, all the way to long runs.....very nice! The new design seems to alleviate some of the tightness which could be experienced with the previous version. If you liked the PureCadence.....I really think you'll like the "2" model a bit better! Will be stocking up on a couple pair as I start my Chicago Marathon and Ironman training.

Spent the last year running in Newton's Gravity model. I loved them! they were amazing shoes however i noticed that when doing long runs and half marathons the lugs really blistered my feet. I thought id try something new for the new year and got the babies! Just did my first run in them. And they feel great! A lot more cushion then i was expecting! When i first saw them i thought they may be too minimalist. But no they are great! If your thinking about it STOP! Go ahead and buy them! Only thing was they ran a half size small but i always order a half size bigger so its no big deal!

Great Shoe for Long Distance Minimalist!

4

I use these for distance road running only, IE anything over +7Mile runs and they perform well... I usually run in a minimalist shoe, but found that for the long runs, my knees need a little love... These do the job nicely... For an intermediate runner, would not recommend for treadmills or speed-work. For a beginner that's on the heavier side, would recommend as a good break-in to running shoe for minimalist running.. For only CON, I would recommend that you double-knot the laces, as they will easily become undone when running.

Favorite middle distance minimalist shoe

5

I'm 5'8" and 162lbs. I run about 25 miles a week and have a mid to fore foot strike. Prefer minimaliist shoes with small drop from heel to toe. I've tried a few other brands of minimalist shoe and found these are best for me. This is my third pair of Pure Cadence and I use them for all my runs 6 miles or less. Last about 9 months, but I also use the Brooks Transcend (more cushioning) for runs longer than 6 miles. I'm a size 10 but like all my running shoes I buy these in 10.5 and they fit perfectly.

Best shoe in the solar system/galaxy

5

I've ran on literally every brand of running shoes. Many I liked some not so much. But the cadence.... it's just perfect. Specially after transitioning to a more natural running gait, the cadence didn't require a dramatic adjustment (vs. Newton's) but the 4mm drop I think is enough for me. Great for training, great for racing. Wear them with no socks on triathlons, NO PROBLEM.

Great shoe

5

These are my new favorite shoe. I have never tried the performance stability due to my weight (180 pounds) but these are very comfortable. My last 20 mile run was great and at a good time. I don't have to bandaid one of my toes anymore since the toe box is the perfect room. I also love how the tongue is open on one side and the laces are ribbed to prevent coming undo. I ordered 2 more pairs already.

Minimalist with all the support!

4

Used the original Cadence for 2 years with great success. Trained for multiple road races without a problem and now training for a marathon with the Cadence 2. I enjoy the updated look and feel of the Cadence 2 while training. The stabilized tongue is nice so that it does not slip to the side during running. Very comfortable shoe for a minimalist feel. Would recommend them highly for a stability shoe.

Great alternative to FiveFingers

5

I usually run in FiveFingers but bought a pair of these while doing altitude training in Wyoming. I was getting too much pain from rocks and trail runs in my FiveFingers and these shoes while not quite as "minimalist" as others, cushioned my running nicely and allowed my sore soles to heal. They are an easy transition for minimalist runners and mid-foot strikers. I will probably wear them in my next marathon.

Great show for my flat feet!

5

These shoes are great. Took me a long time to find a shoe that provided long distance comfort and performance! They're light and fast. My only issue is I have to switch out every 200 miles or so because I'm a little heavier of an athlete. Traction during wet conditions aren't so great but being that I live in San Diego it's not much of an issue.

Surprised this shoe got reduced in price

5

As I have two pairs of PureCadence, being great shoes, however, the Cadence2 is far superior in all aspects, the comfort level, including the lacing technique and shoe tongue, etc, overall this shoe has been elevated to the top of the leader board. This is my go-to shoe also in my volunteering duties at one of my local hospitals.

Light weight stability

4

Great fit, true to size, good cushioning in a light weight shoe. I was running in the Pure Flow which I loved. But, felt I needed a little more stability. I have fairly low arches and these feel great. Great shoe if your looking for a light weight trainer with a little more stability! I like them so much I bought a second pair.

A Seriously Well-Designed Shoe

5

I injured my right foot (lisfranc) in a car accident several years ago and even the best shoes are painful. When I put these on, they are remarkably comfortable and my first instinct is to break into a sprint! No knee pain. Have received numerous compliments on the shoe appearance. What's not to like?

great shoe for me

4

Im 6'0", 170 lbs, and run 25 - 30 miles per week. I first purchased over a year ago and have had no problems with this shoe. Since had gone to another Brooks model and a Nike, i went back to the PureCadence and stocked up , is good for training runs, light trail runs , and longer runs. Durability has been good

Great low drop version of the Adrenaline

4

These are a great shoe for a person looking to get into changing their running gait. The lower heel will help get your point of impact up towards the ball/midfoot. I wear a Size 11 in Saucony Kinvara with a full thumb width of space and the 10.5 fit nice.

I'm a big guy 6'4" 190 lbs, heel striker and reek havoc on my running shoes. These little babies are a really nice shoe, comfortable, good looking and fast. I used them for triathlons including a half ironman and now for the NYC Marathon.

Best shoes on the market!

5

Better than the first edition...which I loved! Tongue no longer slides to the side. Much better (for me) than Newtons. With speed laces they are also great for triathlons - easy /quick to get on. My favorite running shoe of all time.

Overall Great Shoe

4

The only issue that became an issue is that the toe box became creased when stretching in an upward dog fashion. Since then the toe box remained bent & rubbed my toes. Overall, I liked the forward moving feel.

I love the comfort. This is my third pair of shoes and all fit like a glove. The durability is amazing. After 500 miles, they show hardly any wear. The challenge now is figuring out when to replace them!
