I had been waiting a while to try the Pure Project line but I am so prone to injury, I hesitated. I have fallen arches and have had injuries from shin splints(lasting for years at a time), PF, achilles tendonitis, and ITB pain. I have experimented with various models from New Balance, Saucony, and other Brooks shoes and I have to say this shoe has impressed me the most so far. I did a 4 mile tempo run 3 days ago in these shoes, then a 6 miler in my Ghosts, and today an easy 8 miles again in the Pure Cadence 2. My legs felt great after the 4 miler and they were a little tired today. I think when you move to a more minimalist shoe like the PCs, you recruit muscles that you wouldn't otherwise use with the more restrictive shoes. BUT, I do not have achilles or shin pain like I have had repeatedly after only 100-150 miles in my Ghosts or Ravennas. I think the Ghost and Ravenna are great models for me, and I am not ready to move them out of my rotation just yet (Ravennas are brand new :( ), but I am really looking forward to eventually moving towards the PCs exclusively. I may even give the Pure Flows a whirl! RRS had such a great deal today with the VIP 20% off that I took advantage of the original Pure Connects (for daily wear) and Pure Flows (daily wear or possible candidate for speed work) and bought a pair of each! I gave this shoe 4 out of 5 stars because I am not sure yet how these will hold up after additional mileage. It is typical for me to only get 150 miles out of a pair of shoes before I start having multiple issues and that becomes pretty costly. Time will tell but I am super happy with these so far!
Definitely an improvement
I run between 20-35 miles a week depending on the distance for which I am training. I am a new runner (2 years) who has dealt with ITBS and PF, and I recently completed my first marathon. I am not fast (9-11 mm depending on distance) but I am steadily improving. Following the marathon I knew I needed lighter, zero drop shoes (ran in the Wave Enigma and Wave Creation) and tried the Pure Cadence.
I had to exchange the original Pure Cadence for these because even though I loved the fit, the arch support, and the cushioning, the upper seam actually rubbed a bruise on my toe joint.
While the redesigned upper is a definite improvement, it does require break-in because it is stiff. I am used to being able to run in shoes straight out of the box, but these shoes do require (and are worth) the break-in time. After running in both the original and the PC2 back-to-back, there really is not much difference from the original. The shoes mold well to the feet, provide very slight guidance, are well cushioned, and promote good running form with the zero drop design. I have had multiple injury issues after running in traditional shoes (Mizuno, Asics, Nike and Adidas), and within two weeks of switching shoes the ongoing issues cleared up. These are hands-down the best-designed, best-cushioned zero drop shoes on the market.
Epic shoe! I love this shoe so much.
I read so much about this shoe and great things , I had to try it out. I've been using the highest level motion control shoes and even orthotics after a 2+yr battle with plantar fasciitis. I started trying to run without orthotics, which did lessen my knee and hip pains, then I started going toward less stability in my shoes which also felt better. I decided I wanted to progress into a minimalist shoe. I was apprehensive about the second version of this model as reviewers seemed to prefer the first model. I wasn't able to try on the original so I bought the Cadence 2. I did buy a 9.5 and I have NEVER run in a shoe smaller than a 10. It fits great and maybe because my foot tends to be wide. I love the heel cup and the cushioning. It feels like you're walking on one of those spongy toddler playgrounds. I wear this shoe a lot and actually don't like to take it off -that's how comfy it is. I just did my first race in this shoe (5k) and my feet have never been happier post race. I can't say enough good about this shoe.
Support with comfort - my knees love the
I've been an Asics Gel Kayano girl forever until I found these shoes and thought there was nothing better, until I found the Pure Cadence. The fit felt like a glove and I was doubtful the cushion would be enough on my bad knees. Boy was I surprised. Not only did the shoes provide ample cushion, but the design of the shoe improved my stride, lessening the pressure on my knees and foot. Mine our worn out now and I just bought another pair. I tried the Kayano on again and was shocked to find how stiff they felt (I always thought they felt like running on "supported" marshmallows (good)). I had/have a broken, now healed, sesamoid bone (ball of foot) and was surprised that the only shoe that lessened the pressure on the ball of my foot was the Pure Cadence.

Love it, while it lasts.
I wear the Adrenaline and Trance with custom orthotics. I have very hich arches that fell and I over-pronate. This is the onle shoe I can actually feel the arch support in (with my orthotic). I love the low heal, love the cushioning, love the light weight. I felt fresh and ready to conquer the world afger my first run in them (hard 9 miles). I got shin splints during my second run (8 miles with speed intervals.) I will definitely keep these shoes because they are fantastic for my tempo runs but I am aware I may not get 300 miles out of them which makes them kind of pricey per mile. They felt a bit tight in the toe box initially but they did stretch out pretty quick.
Nowhere Near as Comfortable as the First
I was excited to try the Pure Cadence 2 after wearing the first version since Brooks first introduced the Pure Project. I've used these shoes to train for Ironman triathlons and some marathons with no problems with them. The new and "improved" Pure Cadence are a lot narrower in the toe box, and run bigger in size length wise than what the description indicates. (If I was to reorder this shoe I'd order a full size smaller). The new lacing system, how the shoe tongue is stitched in, and shoe material makes this once great shoe, not so great anymore, and they just feel like they've "cheapened" them. I am going to order the first run of the Brooks Pure Cadence, as they're so much more comfortable.
Good cushioning & support but too narrow
I loved the cushioning that this shoe provided - I really felt the lower impact on each step. But yeow was it narrow! The shoe felt tight on the ball of my foot before I went running, but I wanted to try it out anyway b/c the cushioning was so nice. I had to stop running after less than 2 miles b/c of cramping in my feet. I've never had this problem with a shoe before - I've got average width feet and a medium width always works for me. So I don't know if Brooks shoes generally run narrow (my first Brooks running shoe) or if this was just a bad shoe. Bummer.
Soft and comfortable
I have used this on asphalt, both even and uneven bike trails, and also at a track. The shoes were comfortable straight out of the box, and I loved it. I ran several miles for the first run, no problem. It cushions impact, it grips the ground. However, although the shoes are ultra comfy, my legs got tired, not sore, just more tired than when I wear the Adrenaline. I can't explain it, but that's why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. If I wrote the review the first time I wore it, it would be 5 stars. After a couple of weeks, it is 4 stars.
Great shoe for me!
I'm a forefoot runner and this shoe is the perfect combination of a lightweight shoe with the light stability control I apparently need. I tried the PureFlow 2 shoes and they were way too squishy under the foot, causing arch pain. The PureCadence 2 is supportive without being too hard. The low drop also works well for me. I have average-width feet but cannot have my toes cramped when I run, and these provide plenty of room in the toebox for me. I put about 60 miles on my first pair and ordered a second, just to have a backup! :-)
Cushioned Minimalist Shoes
I had owned 2 pair of the first Pure Cadence and loved the fit & the supportive minimalist construction that let you feel the road. The second version still has the supported minimalist construction, but the offset lacing changed how the shoe fit on my feet. Even though the 2nd version seems more narrow, the heel feels looser. The Purecadence 2 is still a great shoe just a different version. I preferred the first one even though I have a very narrow foot.
fits like a glove
I was hesitant to try these because the reviews were mixed. However, I did and am so pleased with them. I run 40-60 mpw determined by my training schedule. These shoes are excellent for anything from 6-15 miles. Over 15 and i feel like I need a little more support. What i like about these shoes is that they have really helped me with my running form. Its easier to not get lazy with my stride in these shoes. I could run in them straight out of the box. And the purpose colored ones are awesome!
I Love my Brooks PureDecadence 2
I love these shoes, very confortable and suport cushion impact, i have some pain in my right knee ( runners knee ) After I finish my physical theraphy i got this shoes to start running again and my knee has less impact, Just be sure to run in the correct form and work out in the correct form and do warm up and strech that's it i love my shoes i will buy them again! Enjoy the street with PureCadence 2. :)

love it !
I am a cross country runner and I wear these to practice everyday! They felt big at first but then felt comfortable after wearing them a few times. I also had the original PureCadences, and I was scared that these wouldn't be as good, but they were! If anything they were better! Brooks is a great shoe manufacturer and I would recommend these shoes to anyone!
I absolutely love the first Pure Cadence so much that I have two pairs so that I can alternate. I ordered the Cadence II as soon as it was available and was disappointed. They do not feel like the first shoe at all. The fit is totally different. They feel big-not snug like its predecessor. It will take awhile to break these suckers in! I average 30 plus miles a week, might need to add a few!
Poor update on Pure Cadence
I had the original pure cadences and liked them, but these are a poor update. The upper has completely been changed for the worse, with a stiffer material and a different lacing systems that is more difficult to make comfortable. Additionally, the cushioning is too springy as to cause joint pain. Do not recommend. Even the color scheme has been made worse.
inverted heel -- be warned
brooks usually make a great minimalist trainer, but this one is not good for those of us who have been running in a traditional (12mm) heel drop for years and years. The inverted heel and minimal heel drop produced a lot of calf, achilles, and soleus strain for me. They would be great if you can run in a shoe with a minimal heel drop, but if you can't, stay away.
Disappointed with this new generations
I am a huge fan of the original women's pure cadence shoes. I anxiously awaited my new pure cadence2 shoes but was disaoppointed in the overall quality, change in lacing design and construction. The inner cushioning does not feel as snug and padded as the original generation. I am now trying to snap up the originals before they are completely sold out....
I am training for multiple half marathons and triathlons. I was looking for a lighter shoe for longer road runs. This shoe is very comfortable. The flexibility built into the sole is excellent while still supportive and cushioning. Love it! Don't love the color, but not really a deciding factor for me.

As good as the original
My daughter runs Cross Country. She loved the PureCadence and now she loves the PureCadence 2. She says it feels as good as the original and she loves the purple color and curved look of the laces. Her feet pronate and these shoes give her just a little bit of support to keep her in neutral.
Last generation so much better!
I ran in the first generation of these and they fit so much better. These seem more flimsy and less cushion. Also, felt like size was made bigger since last. No happy with Brooks...to many changes from one shoe to the next. Back to the basics Brooks!!
West Palm Beach FL
This shoe is awesome if it fits you right. I almost had to go up a size but I think the heal would have given me issues. This is great for midfoot or forefoot striker. Like running on clouds.
I wear the shoes for run/walks. I Love these shoes, they are lightweight, comfortable and very cushiony. These are my second pair of Pure by brooks.
I completely agree with Kim TriMom on all counts. Overall, this shoe seems like a complete downgrade in comparison to the first generation. Very disappointing. Brooks, please go back to the original design!
Awesome shoe! This is my favorite shoe at this time in my shoe rotation! Love It. I ran a 15K on Sunday and made my best time ever!
Love Love the shoes!
These shoes are AMAZING! I have ran a Half Marathon and used these to train and run it. They are my favorite!
South Vienna, Ohio
I returned this shoe because I felt it was too tight and narrow and pushing my feet into supination.
