I bought these as a complement to my favorite shoes (Asics Nimbus) so I could alternate "rides" on my weekly long runs.
They aren't as cushioned as the Nimbus and feel a little firm at the start of each run. However, as the run goes on they seem to soften up a little and finish feeling just about right.
The other reason they're not five-star is the poor quality of the stock insoles. Toward the end of my first 12-mile run, the left insole started buckling under my arch. I had to stop four times in the last two miles to flatten the insole so I could continue running. This issue seems to occur for three reasons: 1) the insole is extremely thin and has no structure to help it retain its shape; 2) the underside surface of the insole has no texture, which allows the insole to easily slide back/forth on the shoe's foot bed; 3) moisture between the insole and foot bed acts as a lubricant and encourages the insole to buckle.
Conclusion-if you are of the 1% of runners whose feet don't sweat, you'll love this shoe. If you're of the 99%, you'll need to replace the stock insoles to fully enjoy the Glycerin 11.
Luckily, the great people at RRS sent me a pair of their R-Gear Bounce insoles to replace the Brooks stock insoles. Hopefully that will solve the issue.
Great for high arches, narrow heels
I have high arches and narrow heels with a neutral gait and mid-foot strike, and finding running shoes that fit has always been a challenge. I ran in Adidas Boston Classics for a decade - and still have 2 pairs in "strategic reserve" tucked away in the closet. The Glycerin 10 fit well, but did not have good transition from strike to toe-off, good cushion but not enough rebound/bounce. The Glycerin 11 somehow nailed the transition behavior for me. My strides are more efficient than in the Boston Classics (evidenced by very quiet foot strikes), and although there is substantially less cushion, I don't have joint pain or other problems after a run. The Glycerin 12 definitely has more cushion, but for me the loss in lateral and transitional accuracy makes it less attractive than the 11's. My usual distance is 5-6 miles, a few times a week.

Shin splints,didn't stand a chance!'
Having just started running again at the age of 35 after 15 years off I knew I needed great shoes as my shin splints came back shortly after starting to train for a 5k. I dumped the asics and went with brooks. I have gone through 2 pair of pureflows, 1 pair of ghost 5 and now on my 4th pair of glycerins. 2 pair of the 10's and now have 2 pair of the 11's. The 11's are by far my favorite. They feel like pillows they are so comfortable and have helped cushion my stride that my shins splints no longer put me out of races or training due to the pain. I have run 5 races in 2013 and set PR's each race. 1 5k, 3 half marathons and 1 full marathon. Is it the shoes?? Who can say but I won't wear anything else. They are so comfortable they make me want to train.

Overall great update!
A great update to the previous edition. The upper fits a lot better than the previous edition and wraps the foot very well. The new overlay is light, flexible, and feels like it barely there but gives great support. Appears there is less padding than the previous edition which I consider a good thing. It does feel like the shoe encourages me to heel strike more than usual though. I felt the previous edition was too stiff to run in and I quickly relegated them to gym wear. Not the case with these and I am glad I ordered a pair. But beware the orange color is way way way brighter than it appears in the pictures. I would consider it safety cone orange bright. But overall I am satisfied, and for the heftly price of this years model I hope they last.

Finally.... And I've tried them all
I have competed in 18 Ironman races and countless 5k- marathons and always searching for the right shoe. I used orthotics and Asics Kayano's for years then lighter shoes and finally after reading "Born to Run" I threw away my orthotics and bought neutral shoes. I have raced in really lightweight shoes and felt the stress and strain on my Achilles the next day but with these shoes it's the perfect balance of weight and cushioning in a fabulous neutral shoe. I ran 16 miles on a hilly fire road trail and felt great the next day. I will buy two more pairs and rotate. My wife is pleased as I buy a pair of shoes every other week trying to find the perfect fit - now I have them.

Very Nice Update
Great update from the 10 which I found to be and feel heavy. In the 10's it felt like there was a golf ball on the outside of my mid-foot. The 11's are comfortable and surprisingly light feeling. My initial fear was that they would be to soft but they are firmer feeling then I thought. Not by any means hard but a perfect balance between cushion and road feel. They are very smooth with a great heel toe transition. If there was one thing I could suggest it would be to make them slightly more responsive on toe push off. These will be my go to everyday trainer, love them! Great blue color too. Would love then in Red as well.

I've used the Glycerin 10's and I loved them..Actually bought three pair last year and lost considerable weight while using them. The 11's ARE THE BOMB..Even Lighter, Love The Cushion, and The Colors make them even that much cooler...Ran this morning with them, even the midfoot to toe transition in my stride seemed more effecient..These are going to be Awesome shoes!!! I'm a Big Boy and went through all different brands..Brooks Glycerin's are the shoe for you in you want comfort, quality, and pampered feet..LOVE THESE NEW SHOES!!!

I purchased the shoes in the Laguna Hills store.
I having been buying running shoes for 30+ years. I have a high arch, high instep and wide feet.
This is the first shoe other than a New Balance in many years. I was surprised the shoe fit. The shoe is very comfortable in the forefoot. The shoe upper is made stronger than normal. I needed this so my big toe would not wear through.
At the store, I noticed shoe was wide at the ankle. The store employee recommended a particular knot. This solved the issue.
Please know, I did purchase the insert from the store.
Thanks, Dave and store staff.

Great looks but watch out for the width
I really love the new style and color. The shoe is different then the Glycerin 10 and not just a little. This shoe is a good 3/8" narrower. This can be overcome though by getting a wider option. If you were a Normal width in the 10 then I would recommend the Wide in the 11. It also seems a little less comfortable while running. My feet feel more fatigued after a long run. On short runs it feels solid and a little lighter then the 10. I would definitely recommend insoles to help the cushioning.
Feels like a golf ball under your arch
Ive been through ten pair of the Glycerine 9, two pair of the Glycerine 10. I prefer the Glycerine 9, the Glyerince 10 was good. I couldnt find any more Glycerine 9's in my size so I was anxious to try the Glycerine 11's. If you like running with a golf ball under your arch and a toe box big enough to carry your car keys and gel packs then this shoe is for you! I ran 2 miles and had to return to base. This shoe is totally different than the previous Glycerine 8,9, and 10's. This shoe should be taken out the neutral category. Im 6'2, 185...40-50 mile week runner.
Nice but not the 10!
After wearing the Glycerin 10 which is the best running shoe I have ever worn I knew it would be a tough act to follow for Brooks. The 3d construction of the 11 is superior to the 10 and the durability seems better than the 10. But the 11 runs wide and does not have the cushoined supportive feel of the 10. Also the color selection was pretty poor this time around. Overall the 11 is a well made shoe but is not an ideal running shoe for me.
Best Brooks ever!!!
Been running for 7 years. Have always used Brooks shoes, tried these and also purchased gel insoles, I have never had a more comfortable running shoe, they were great right out of the box. In fact I bought a second pair, alternating them, the second pair I used on a 10 mile run the first time I wore them. Feet felt great, pretty good for a 60 year old, huh?
I highly recommend this shoe for running, I always buy 1/2 size bigger then I wear.
Thank you Brooks!!!
Change of Heart on the 11's
I had previously gave this shoe a bad review. After trying a pair of Saucony Triumph 11...horrible...sent em back! I thought maybe I didn't give the Glycerine 11 enough of a chance, got another pair...did a couple of 7 milers and only had slight soreness in arch. After a few more runs the soreness went away and I have had no problems. LOVE this SHOE! After I got use to it, it seems to be more like the 9's than the 10's. Highly recommend this shoe!
Well made shoe with quality components. Cushioning just right. Run 15-18 miles week on pavement. Shoe has held up great. No knee pain, keeps legs fresh. Toe box not to big or snug for the average width foot. One of the most quiet and balanced shoes I have ever owned when just walking through the house.Definitely not a race shoe. Bought a second pair on sale, was waiting on the Glycerin 12 but when tried them on I preferred the 11s.
Valley of the Sun
I have run two marathons with the Glycerin 10 and I thought that is a great shoe, but I had to test these ones and did run today a long run of 20km and it was like running on clouds, felt really soft and fast. Perfect shoe if you need the cushion, Im a 205 pounds runner and it felt the best I had so far. Sizes are the same as for Glycerin 10. Thanks Brooks, going to buy a 2nd pair for my next marathon.
Excellent, durable shoe
I use the shoe as my daily trainer. I run mainly on the road but occasionally on the trails. Track workouts have also been great and I do not feel that the slight increase in weight compared to other shoes on the market has negatively affected my speed.
When I initially started wearing this shoe, I had some blistering on my achilles; however, this was only for the first 2-3 weeks until the show broke in.
Awesome shoe for me.
I use mainly for daily walking, they're a perfect fit. Most of my walking is around the neighbourhood not used on trails.I enjoy them and feel good wearing them. I've had Brooks shoes for years and found them to wear well. These are the best yet, really pleased with them.
The only negative I can think of is that they only come in two colours, I opted for more conservative blue one.
Great Shoe But Too Narrow
This is a potentially great shoe. I go 190 lbs and need a sturdy shoe and cushioning. The 2E unfortunately hardly qualifies as Wide. I wear other Brooks shoes that offer a 4E. If this shoe had a 4E option I would buy it all the time. Please Brooks, wake up, give us a 4E option so we can buy more of these shoes. Get these shoes if you have a normal width foot, wide footers stay away.
These actually were for my son who has not worn tennis shoes in over five years. He is special needs, including Sensory Processing Disorder.
The store in Columbia was amazing! He tried on so many shoes it was insane.
He now wears these every single day! Says it feels like walking on clouds.
We also got him the inserts, which have made his heels stop hurting daily.
These seem as if they will be quite durable. And they are awesome looking.
Got these yesterday and put 5 miles on them this morning. They feel fantastic......I've been a Mizuno wearer for years but their shoes are hit or miss. The Wave Rider 14 was far better than the 15 or 16. These shoes out of the box, feel fantastic.....lots of cushion. Comfortable with a good fit.....roomy in the toe box without the heel being too tight. I don't know how they will wear but so far so good.
I don't ever review products, but this shoe is so comfortable, I felt compelled to do so. I absolutely love this shoe. Coming back from a stress reaction over the summer, I was looking for something to train in for an upcoming marathon. This hit the spot. Great shoes, very comfortable, good fit, and are my favorite pair of running shoes to date, if you don't mind spending a little extra cash on them.
can you bring back glycerin 9's?
I agree with man from tennessee, this is more of a neutral shoe. I loved the glycerin 9's and bought as many pairs as I could, and now they are wore out and the 10's & 11's just don't give the forefoot cushion and stability as before, I think for a pure lighter nuetral runner, 11's would be fine. Any ideas for shoe similar to the Glycerin 9's? Still love Brooks shoes though.
Love the glycerin!
Another great shoe from Brooks. There is nothing wrong with this shoe! The only thing I can think of is that I have lost about 1 min on my mile times right now. I came from the Pure Flows which are lighter and have a way less mm drop. I will get that minute back! But if you are skeptical about these...DON'T BE! Try them and you won't regret it.

I run generally about 25 miles a week, mostly on a treadmill. I used to have sore feet and shins but not anymore. Brooks Glycerin 10 & 11 exceeded my expectations and I would argue that there isn't a better running shoe or for that matter, a shoe to wear all day if your on your feet for a long period. Its like having a cloud beneath you!
I have bought this shoe over and over.
I started wearing Brook's shoes about twenty plus years ago and have been pleased with every pair. I had to give up running two years ago (I'm 78 now) because of arthritis in my knees but I still walk my 4 - 5 miles each day. I really like these new Glycerin shoes and am sad that I can't just stretch out my stride and run.
Fritz the slow
Great run right out of the box!
This is my 2nd pair of Glycerins. I started with the 10's and now the 11's. I thought it didn't get any better than the 10 until I wore the 11. Hopefully the 12 will be even better. Whether it's running hills in Flagstaff, the roads near my house or the treadmill at the gym, the shoe just works.

I am 64 years old, 5'9", 162 lbs. My back gets sore if I run more often than my every-other-day 4 mile, so I really need a shoe that smooths my ride for me. I have been very pleased with the comfort and cushioning of this shoe and expect to be back running 10K before the summer ends.

Best fitting shoe I've ever worn!
This shoe is my first to be used for preparation for the L.A. Marathon in March 2014. I'm a big guy (235) and needed a strong durable shoe. What I wasn't expecting was it's the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. The sales person that helped me was so helpful and fun!
Trent the non-runner
Comfortable, light and supportive
I have tough feet, wide and bent toes,, so finding good shoes is important.
I love my asics, especially cumulus, but tried these and was surprised to find I prefer them. Already getting my second pair.
They do run a little small. So order 1/2 size up.
