Men's BROOKS® PURECADENCE™ 3 :: Running with extra support doesn't have to mean tolerating extra weight as you'll see in the newly updated Men's Brooks® PureCadence™ 3. You'll be amazed by this super lightweight running shoe that offers stability and support to ensure you'll hug every turn striding with power. Maxing out your mileage will be more fun with the lighter, more comfortable fit delivered by the PureCadence™ 3's newly sculpted arch and conforming upper. You'll also get enhanced balance with the repositioned toe flex, and enjoy more natural, well-aligned strides thanks to the anatomical last and IDEAL Heel. 8.6 ounces
PureCadence 1 & 2 were great functionally (looks - in the eye of the beholder I suppose). Version 2 modified the upper from version 1 - the tongue mostly, but the fit was the same (slipperlike!). When PureCadence was first introduced I had to size down a half for versions 1 & 2 from men's 11 (consistently for Adrenaline and Ravena) to 10.5. Just got PureCadence version 3; ran in twice and experienced toe jam in the 10.5. Also, the shoe seems tighter/more snug all around. The support band is now made of a tough rubber band versus an elastic material band in versions 1 & 2, so that may be adding to the tighter feel. The sole is redesigned and feels even better than versions 1 & 2. There is a new suede textured band around the top of the forefoot of the upper - slight pinch on the outside of the shoe where the band is stitched to the upper. Reordered size 11 from RR. Love the new sole and feel; wish they left the upper alone; the sizing issue will happen with redesigns and is relative: hence my indications for Sizing and Width above - might want to size up or try on in store if going from PureCadence 2 to 3.
Mixed Bag from Version 2
I average 40-50 mi/week, and retire these @ about 350. I'd been hoarding pairs of PureCadence 2's, mostly because of the color options (love the black PC 2s), but finally started rotating these in towards the end of the summer. The PC 3's are growing on me, but I have a few minor complaints about the changes over the PC 2: the sole feels a little stiffer mid-foot and (for me) it seems to interrupt the transition from landing to push-off just a little; the upper seems narrower mid foot and pulls up on my arch more than I'm accustomed to (although this might ultimately be support that I need); and the colors are AWEFUL. Seriously Ugly.
If the PC2s were still available, I'd buy them indefinitely, but barring that the PureCadence in any iteration is still my go to shoe for a daily trainer, and I'd buy it over anything else.
That said, if you're listening Brooks, can we have some kind of black or dark gray as an option for the PC4? Seriously, some of us guys like to both run neutral and LOOK neutral!

I've used all three versions of this shoe. The first worked great and I trained and ran nyc 1/2 in them with no issues. Ver 2 had major changes and I began having a hot spot on the outer right foot. Same with ver 3. I have a slight pronation and these seem to fix that and they are light weight. I also like a softer shoe which this is versus the ds trainer series. I like the shoe but I'm not 100% sold on it and for durability it's at most 200 miles especially if you run outside in winter and rain. As for cosmetics I'm not sure you can come up with uglier color combos if you tried.

Soft and tight
Great shoe especially if you are looking lightweight cushion. It feels cloud like which is great for excessive road running. My very high aches love the shoe. HOWEVER the red band across the top of the foot is VERY tight. It causes pain after 8+ miles that feels like a hot poker down to my big toe. This may be a personal problem and if you aren't spending as much time in the shoe not an issue. Just a heads up
The fit is different than PureCadence 2
I have gone through about 4 pair of the PureCadence 2 and have loved them. Unfortunately, version 3 is tighter across the top of the toe box. They seem fine when walking around in them but when I run on any incline causing the toe to flex I notice that the fabric across the toe box rubs into my big toe on both feet. I will be returning them and looking for the older version on line until this issue is addressed in the next update.

3rd version a little narrower
The cadence are my favorite shoe for going long on pavement. Lots of room in the toe box and lots of cushion for such a light shoe. I ran an ironman and a couple half marathons in the first version of the cadence. The 3rd version are narrower and stiffer (upper) but don't seem to feel any different when I run. Running a marathon in two days. I'll post an update.
I use this shoe for walking, although it is a running shoe. I like the style and overall fit. The sole is fairly hard with minimal cushion. I changed the insoles to ones offering a deep heel cup and additional cushioning. After doing that and wearing them daily for a week it seems that all has come together. This is a good quality shoe and I do recommend it.
Keep making this shoe
I'm running half and full marathons and would train in Brooks and race in New Balances. I recently ran a full marathon in the PureCadence 3 and I will race in Brooks in future races. I felt little shock and the no burning feet after the race. I like that this shoe is low to the ground and fit to my feet as if I have been running in them for weeks.
I had been experiencing knee pain prior to purchasing these sneakers. Since I have been using them in my high intensity training classes, the knee pain is gone. These sneakers are good for my low arches and provide the right amount of support. Ado they are light and breathable.

Better then last years
I did most of training with the previous years shoe. I ran a couple 10 mile training runs to check them out and then off to the NY marathon. These shoes are awesome. Lightweight for the last miles, grip for the wet pavements, open toe box to prevent toe issues. My new fav.
I love this shoe
this shoe was comfortable from the moment i put it on. my first run was a 10km run and the second a 22km run. awesome for both i would happily train for and run a marathon in these. i got the red colour because red is always the fastest!
I have had the 1st and 2nd editions of this shoe and this one is the best yet. I was able to put them on and from the first run they felt great.
