I teach over 20 hours of fitness classes per week and have found running shoes to be the most supportive for my foot needs even though I am doing crosstraining activities. I have loved the Asics Kayano series up until the last couple and so I decided to try out Brooks Transcend. The first time I wore them they were amazing. The high impact movement I did felt effortless and my energy level was high because of the support. I did get some raw ankles under my socks though because the back of the shoe really rubbed into my heel even though they were the perfect size---it just pinched there I guess. I got over it within a couple weeks (skin toughened up n those spots) because I loved them other than that. Fast forward 6 weeks and my ankles were starting to ache every morning, I realized the support I had felt in the beginning was lessening by the day and was almost gone by week 8 so I sent them back. I'm bummed cause I thought other than the slight blistering in the beginning they were perfect, but looks like I will be going back to Asics.
Probably a great shoe for people who clock half (10) the hours I do per week
Fit did not work
I have been a Brooks fan for years. I also own ASICS Women's GEL-Kayano 19 in size 10. Which is ok but don't love. My favorite Brooks was the Infiniti and Infiniti2. I tried the Ravena 5, not enough shoe. Tried the Adrenaline 13, way to hard in forefoot. Then the Transcend. I couldn't rate it bad becasue I never ran in it because it was too big. I am sure it is a great shoe if it fits. I am a 9 1/2 street shoe but always a 10 in a running shoe. Two things didn't work. The length felt really long so that the vamp of the shoe push down on top of my foot. The heel counter ripped into my achilles as my heel slipped out in the shoe just walking. I notice that the heel counter is straight across and not cut out in a U shape like all my other shoes. This made it hurt. The width felt a wee bit wide as I am a B but I think it was that the shoe felt too big in general. I guess I am the odd ball reviewer who felt these just felt lunky and big. I went and tried on the new Women's Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14 which fit good in store and wow! Way more cushion in the forefoot than last years 13's. So these go back in exchange for the 14 GTS, hope they perform as well as they fit.
Best running shoe yet!!!!
I have been a runner for just about a year and have been through 4 different types of running shoes. Once I was fitted and they explained that I was an overpronator, I tried the Brooks Ravenas, as well as a pair of Asics. Both were a no. I bought these hoping that the guide rails would help with chin cramping and my overpronation. These are *the* best shoes ive tried! Ive trained in them for about 3-4 weeks and ran a 5k in them this past weekend. The cushion in the shoe is amazing and truly helps with pronation. I only wish they came in a few different color choices, maybe a super multicolor, but that is my only complaint! I will definitely be getting my money's worth out of these Brooks!
Best running shoes!!
Just did my first full marathon. I wore my Nike Fly lunar it was okay but after running 26.2 miles I had the worst pain on my shin and knee... My Dr recommended to get a pair of running shoes that will give me good support, good cushioning and has good stability. Went to try out the Brooks transcend, it felt comfortable but I was kinda hesitant because these were new shoes and no reviews yet..but I took the chance anyways..thanks to Road Runner sports after I purchased the shoes they said that I have 90 days to return it if the shoes were not what I expected it to be..well I'm a happy camper! I love my brooks transcend been doing long runs with no problems..now I'm training for my 2nd full marathon this May with my Brooks of course :)
Love these shoes!
I'm a new runner and wanted to make sure I got the best shoes for my feet so that I didn't get injured. I am a heavier runner (160 lbs), and I overpronate just a bit. My local running store first suggested Brooks Ravenna 5 and they were ok, but the forefoot cushioning was not enough. I exchanged them for these. They are perfect for me. I've been training for 2 months now and I've never experienced any pain anywhere. That's a great shoe in my book! Oh, and you can't beat the hot pink color!
Change is good
I have been using the trance for quite some time. I'd been buying the same model, but I decided to update this time around. Out of the gate, I love the color. These are so bright! I find that they are more flexible and lighter than the trance were. They feel more cushioned (although I replaced their insole with my own). I have raced in them and found them to be super comfortable (1/2 marathon).
This is a heavy shoe and I would recommend it more for a 1/2 marathon or longer type distance.

Love the Brooks Transcend
I love this shoe, so much that I bought two pairs so I could take advantage of the 20 percent sale. These shoes are a nice step up from the Trance, which I really liked, but I love these!!! I can't believe how cushioned these shoes feel while offering the light support I need. My knees are very grateful that I am now using these shoes. No more achy knees! Try these shoes and you'll see what I mean.
I Would Give These 6 Stars If I Could!
After wearing Saucony Hurricanes, Asics Gel Kayanos, and New Balance 1260v4 for the past couple of years to help correct my over pronation problem, I have finally found the perfect shoe. I need a shoe with cushion yet control, which will accommodate my custom orthotics. I've been having problems with my knees, but the farther I run in these, the better I feel! I can't say enough good things about them! It's too soon to comment regarding durability, but they appear to be well made.

Best shoe ever!!
I am VERY flat footed and have spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on running shoes. I have gone to running shoe stores to get my stride evaluated and every shoe that I have bought has either given me blisters, bruised my lack of arch, and had to change the insoles. This is the first pair EVER that felt made for my feet!! They are awesome! It has made walking/ running fun again! Thank you BROOKS!
You get what you pay for
I went to a running shop and got "fitted" and was not happy with the shoes recommended... blister city and shin splints. These so far have been great. I'm just under two months out from my first half marathon. Even on my long runs my feet and shins feel pretty good. Some blisters but nothing I wouldn't expect given the miles I'm running.
I you have a few extra bucks to spend on shoes, I don't think you can go wrong with these. I will purchase another pair when it's time.
OK they weren't bluffing about the CLOUD
This shoe is amazing, ok i just ran in them today so this is a fairly fresh review. But I literally felt like the shoes stability gave me more energy to continue for 3 miles of jogging. I have the Trance 12 and its great but its more structured, this is like another kind of level of feeling. This shoe is amazing will buy more then one pair next month before they run out.
For me, it is like running on clouds...
I have been running all my life. I have had many injuries over the years, but as I get further into my 50's, things hurt more! These shoes have been a great relief to me. Solved some foot pain I was having, and also I feel like they take a lot of the "hit" for my knee's. I have always worn another brand, tried these as a suggestion...
I am grateful I did! Great shoe!
Believe the hype!
Guide rails are a revelation! My left foot is somewhat rigid while my right foot has high collapsing arches and moderate pronation. I've been running in Adrenalines, which I love for my right foot but felt were too stiff and unforgiving for my left. With the Transcend, the support is there if needed but it doesn't limit the natural movement of the foot. The cushion is luxurious AND responsive. Thank you, Brooks!
Solid support, but stiff
Returned for half larger size. These look great and perform pretty well, but I am finding that even a size up there are stiff rub points on the uppers that give me blisters on my little toes. These aren't as cushioned and comfy as my Aasics gel Kayanos, but I am finding the firmness and support underfoot are good for pavement running. I am hoping that they might soften up a little with more miles.
Good supportive shoe
I bought this shoe to help transition myself back to running after a long layoff. Feels great for walking and for times when I need to be on my feet for a while. They're a bit heavy for me as far as running goes; for running, I prefer the responsiveness and flexibility of the Adrenaline. But as I said, this makes for a good walking/all-purpose kind of shoe. Excellent support.
I've been a loyal and long-time fan of the Trance, so I had to try the Transcend since they stopped making Trance. They feel good as far as cushioning and stable ride, but the shoe really dug into the back of my ankle area and caused bad blistering. They seem to sit higher than my other shoes. I gave them 3 tries, but not working for me, unfortunately.
Trance is not replaced
I love trance and have been addicted to trance since I started using it - I walk about 4 miles a day and have a mild pronation problem with trance my knees didn't hurt - the transcend is super cushiony which I lovelove love but the toe box is too small so although I always wear a half size bigger in brooks - shoe just doesn't work
Denise the walker
After Brooks discontinued the Trance, they suggested I try these shoes. They are much narrower than the Trance and more expensive, of course. I've never had to order wide shoes before. So tight, I immediately took them off and didn't test run them.
They don't have them in wide so I guess I'll try another Brooks or brand.

Not enough padding under ball of foot
I bought these for running, but they don't have enough padding under the ball of the foot, but are great for cross training and general gym. They are really comfortable and have good support. Also they look good. I like them, just not for me for running, but someone else may love them for that purpose.
A little too bulky
I really wanted to like this shoe, however, it just was not there. The shoe felt very heavy and bulky for my long distance runs. If you don't mind a a heavier shoe and don't have a strong preference for a light "fast" running shoe, I think this would be great for you! Good shoe, just not for me.
Won't buy again
I'm a marathoner with prior heel pain caused by plantar fasciitis. Even with orthotics or inserts these shoes don't provide heel support. This shoe is far from the quality of the Trance. I won't buy again and am considering going back to the Asics Gel Keyano.
Fantastic running shoes
Have owned many pairs of Brooks running shoes...most recently Ravenna's...but this Transcend Running Shoe is by far the best. From the time I first put them on ... it was a great fit....no pain when I run...lots of comfort but with a great fit.
My new love! Brooks Transcend
I am flat footed and the Brooks Transcend is perfect for me. I run
25 + miles a week and these were comfortable from the first run wide enough weight absorbing I sit at 150lbs and im in love with these scooping up another pair!
Great Running Shoe
I run 3 to 5 miles, 5 days a week. Never owned a pair of Brooks before, but will certainly be purchasing a second pair shortly. These shoes are so comfortable and give me the support I need for my runs. No break-in period was necessary.
My Very Favorite Shoe
I love this shoe! I know that Brooks is coming out with a new version of this shoe that's supposed to be even better than this version. I can't imagine how they can possibly improve this shoe. This is the best!
A great replacement for the Trance!
I train for marathons and have been very committed to the Brooks Trance in the past. I had several pairs stowed away in my closet! I was fearful to order a new shoe. The Transend is awesome!
Dee the runner
3rd Pair! Love everything about them
I wear these shoes all the time. In the gym, on runs, and at work. I am always on my feet. These shoes are just wonderful. Supportive. Comfortable. Treat yourself and get a pair.
I love these shoes
I have had a lot problems due to planters fasciitis and tendonitis due to low arches. These shoes have been great and have gotten me back on the road and out of the gym.
I LOVE these shoes!
I am currently using them for use in the gym during the winter months as I don't do well in the cold. I can't wait to get out and pound the pavement with these shoes!
Just getting started
Really like the support in this shoe.
Wish there was a tongue loop for the laces to keep the tongue from sliding around.
Unfortunate seam rubs my baby toes
