Great shoe, classic Mizuno ride, responsive and protective! toe box is great if your a toe wiggler. very soft, stretch fabric over forefoot so there is no restrictive feel. I wanted something with more protection then the Rider and the forefoot of the Nirvana/Creation-that lead me to the Enigma. I did 16 miler right out of the box. Construction of Mizuno shoes is always top notch, i run 60-70 miles a week and Mizuno is one of the most durable and dependable shoes. It is a firmer ride, good responsiveness, good toe off, my heel stays secure, no slippage. it's weight is a bit on the heavy side, but it doesn't feel heavy on the foot, it's not a speed shoe, but the transition is smooth and the protection is there for you at mile 16,17,18.... which is good!

Wanted to like em, but couldn't
Went from Nimbus to Wave Creation to Wave Riders and I thought I could go back to neutral plus and give these Enigma's a go - but they are a no go. It's fairly high volume shoe with a deep heel cup so if you use inserts/orthotics maybe this shoe will work for you. For me, it rubbed my ankle pretty bad, and after 10 min on the treadmill I had hot spots in my forefoot and my heels were sore. And I have zero heel strike so I don't know how I had heel pain. After 20 minutes I had arch pain. Never had this with my other Mizunos or my Nimbus. So I learned my lesson and I will not stray from the path I've chosen.

A fellow running mom told me to try out Mizuno as she (like me) was an Asics user with high arches and neutral foot mechanics. The shoes don't have the squishiness of the Nimbus but none of my muscles or joints hurt during or after a 4 mile run. I run on sidewalk, road and packed dirt and these shoes handle them all well. It has a deep heel so it may rub some runners' ankles. I inserted Berry Superfeet and it raised my ankle just enough to prevent rubbing. It really fits my flipper-shaped feet well.

I ran in Asics for years. These sneakers turned me into a Mizuno convert.
The cushion is amazing, but the sneaker is light. Love them!
