I really love Mizunos but have been dissapointed by their options for widths in a stability shoe. Being a larger guy, I need a wide shoe with solid support. I was extremely happy when my shoe fit expert told me about the Wave Inpire 9s coming in 2E (wide). These shoes are extremely comfortable and fit great. I have not had any knee pain (which is an issue of mine) since buying these shoes. Keep up the good work Mizuno!
Nice work, Mizuno!
These Mizunos are the real deal.
Me? 30 miles per week, mid foot striker, mild over pronator, aiming for Dec. '14 marathon, 40-something, 5' 11", 160 lbs
Each manufacturer has his own take on the stability market, and I think Mizuno has absolutely nailed it with the Wave Inspire 9. The mid foot support is excellent, and transition to toe off is fairly seamless. As with all new shoes, it took a few runs to break them in to my desired shape. Unique to Mizuno would be the overall firmness of the outsole and somewhat exaggerated heel counter. To me, neither one is a real negative; they both just require a little getting used to. The pros? Plenty of them. Good support without feeling pillowy and chunky. Great ventilation. Wear has been excellent. Lightweight. 11.4 ounces for my size 11.5. I absolutely love running with these. After six weeks of putting them through the ringer, I cannot give them enough praise. They have chewed up runs from 5k to 10.2 miles and even some track sessions without fail. Tremendous pair of running shoes.
A must try for a stable shoe!!
I am a street runner, lost a lot of weight, and was ready to get back into serious running. My goal was the LA MARATHON in Feburary. I went to RR in Nov and did the whole foot test. They recommended insoles because I pronate and a stability shoe. All my shoes have been Asics so they brought out 2 types: A pair of Asics and the Mizuno's. I wasn't too thrilled about the yellow on a blue shoe (I really wanted a red and black shoe), but I took both pairs home because I would give up looks over performance.
I ran with both for a couple weeks and the Asics just felt too snug on my foot. The Mizuno had a better feel, wider foot print, and breathed better. They just felt more comfortable! I never have issues with knee pain or shin splints anymore!! LOVE these shoes!!! I am on my second pair I purchased from RR online in the new color RED!!!
Mizuno Inspire 9 great update!
Have 35 miles in them so far and they are great, only positive things to say. Very light and fast for a full stability shoe. I have not done a long run in them yet (12+ miles), but have two 8 mile runs in them and they performed well. They feel very light through the run and make me want to speed it. Have been using Asics GT series for 2 and 1/2 years (and have used many other stability shoes, Saucony, Brooks, etc.), and have approx 200 miles on latest version GT-2000 and wouldn't go back to them, wish I had tried the Inspire 9s earlier this year. I am interested is seeing how the Inspire's do for a longer run 12, 15 miles +. Would prefer to rate 4 1/2 stars until I get a long in, but will go with 5 for now.
It's a Hit
Mizuno Inspire 9 is light weight shoe with good shock absorbtion and yet a firm, non-pillow like feel, which I love. There is also good fore foot flexibility. It controlls my moderate over pronation. Its a winner in my book and I have tried them all. Ran most frequently in Asics Kayano and GT 2100 prior to switching to Mizuno. I have 200 miles on my first pair and bought the blue ones to rotate in. That is my only complaint -the Color. Too flashy for my taste. I run on average four times per week - six to eight miles per run- for an average of 30 miles per week. I am 6 foot and 175 lbs and 53 years old.
My last two pairs of running shoes were Nike Equalon 4's. I wanted to stay with a stability shoe more to protect myself from my age (63) than anything else. I weigh 125. I focused on the Nike Triax Structure 15 and these Mizuno's. My street shoe is usually 8 1/2. The 9 1/2 Nike's seemed tight. The Mizuno's seemed a perfect fit - and so light weight compared to the Equalon 4's! I don' feel as much cushioning though. I have had them for about a week and they are very comfortable. I especially like them while running intervals. Stability shoe wearers should definitely give these shoes a try.
Love these shoes!
These shoes were great out of the box! I am 6' 2" and weigh 210. I came in prepared to buy these when an employee greeted me and asked if I had already gone through the Shoe Dog test. I was glad I did so as I was able to try on different shoes but came back to this one. The techs at RRS recommended the custom insole as well. I have never bought custom insoles but what a difference in the ride, even in my old pair of Kayano's. I went in to buy a pair of running shoes and walked out with my Christmas gifts. Thank you RRS team! I love the ringing of the bell after my purchase!

Love these shoes, run a little narrow
These shoes are a little tight on me, but I still have to say that I love them. I may even be moving back to a Ravenna, because of a narrow pinch on my right pinkie toe. I've been logging 20+ a week on them and like that they are light and overall fit great.
The plus is that they come in a 2E as well. I went to the doc on my foot and the suggestion was to revert, but I still think they're a great shoe. It may just be the mileage or coincidence in timing, but I'd give them 4.5 stars.
Great stability shoe
What a great shoe! I had worn out two pairs of the 8's over the last year and was excited to run in the updated version. The shoe is much better to look at compared to the 8's. The blue really looks sharp in person. I think the photo's make it look rather dull. The fit is perfect. Feels like the 8's did, but with less weight to the shoe. If you need stability shoes, looking at this shoe is the right choice. Can't wait to get these back on my feet for my weekend run.
I've been running in the Adrenaline for the past five years. Trying new model (13), it felt over- cushioned, over-controlling to me. I ordered the Inspire 9 and absolutly love it. I always laugh when a shoe ad says "just enough stability", but the Inspire fits that description. Good moderate stability, lightweight, responsive. One of the best shoes I have after over 20 years of running. Hats off to Mizuno!

Wides were not wide
I usually buy Saucony, and I wish I would have stayed with my trusted brand. These looked good out of the box , but when I put them on, I was instantly worried that I had made a mistake. They felt half a size too big, and after wearing them around my living room for 30 minutes, both of my feet started feeling numb. I tried them for a short workout the following day, and they felt way too tight across the middle of my foot. Returning for a refund.
I have tried many shoes and many brands and this is the first shoe I have ever worn that feels so freaking awesome. Over 150 miles on the first pair so I bought a second pair to rotate in. The new Lime Punch color is sick....it looks like glow in the dark..in the light.
BTW - I should give RoadRunner kudos for switching out the Brooks Ravenna 3's that were not working.
A Reliable Stability Shoe
I am relatively new to triathlon and now run 6 days a week running about 40 miles a week. I'm a large, middle-age man that needs a durable stability shoe like the Inspire. I first bought a pair of Brooks Adrenaline and the Mizuno Inspire. When it came to get new shoes again I went with the Mizuno because of it's comfort and durablity. the 2013 models have some spiffy colors too!
I went from a neutral shoe (Pegasus) to this shoe and was worried about the effect. I run about 50 mi /wk, even up here in Canada with temperatures down to -25C + snow. These shoes perform flawlessly. I've tried many other brands (Asics, Adidas, New Balance, Nike), but these Mizunos are far above the rest in my opinion. Will be buying many more pairs in the future.

Great running shoes!
Love these shoes. Was skeptical coming from the Wave Nirvana but this is a grIat pair of shoes! Great stability and cushioning. Very lightweight and good looking. i had to get a wide width because the regular size 10 was a bit narrow. But that's my only complaint. So, if you liked the discontinued Wave Nirvana, give these a go!
Like running on air
I finally admitted I had a low arch to no arch foot type and weigh about 150lbs and this shoe was recommended. I had been running in Kayano's and experienced some post run toe issues and back pain and that is now gone and I love to run again. I have two pair one in red and one in blue that I rotate and I am never going back to Asics.
Inspire is right!
The Inspire is my go-to shoe. I can train in it or run marathons in it. I've worn Mizuno Inspires for years because they give just enough stability, but feel as light as a racing shoe. I liked the Inspire 9 so much I ordered a second pair right away. I've run for 30 years and never been happier with a shoe.

Best shoes ever!
I decided to change from Brooks. I tried a Pearl Izumi and sent it back. I did a lot more research and decided on these. First run was great. No issues and very comfortable. Probably the best shoes I have ever run in. I mainly run 5K and 10K. Treadmill and roads. There was no break in time needed.
What a shoe!
My podiatrist recommended this shoe after a bout with PF. Had one run of 4 miles. I think Im ready to accept the reality that as a large runner I need more shoe. Minimalist shoes and Nikes might be too soft for me. These shoes seem to be made for me. I hope my positive experience with this shoe continues.
New runner & love this model
This shoe was recommended to me and I thought it looked a little too professional since I'm a novice. Returned to the store and purchased them after trying some lesser grade model by another manufacturer. These shoes are awesome in every way IMHO. Cushiony, stable, breathable, and cool color scheme/construction technique. Cannot think of any downside to this shoe.
Love These Shoes
As a first time runner, I am super excited to continue to use these shoes. I have run just 2-3 weeks with them, but they make the experience enjoyable with my purchased insoles through the Shoe Dog assessment. The staff in store was super friendly and helpful. I truly feel like a VIP.

I hope they never change this one!!
After trying just about all running shoe brands I finally found one that doesn't hurt!! I bought a half size up and the ride is awesome After the disney marathon I had so many blisters and decided to try the MIZUNO wave inspire 9. Now I wouldn't run in anything else.
I Love This Shoe
I have flat feet and the stability shoe I had been wearing was heavy. I saw some reviews on this shoe and thought I would give it a try. I'm so glad I did because out of the box it felt great and I was able to run further than I had in a long time without andy pain.
I like these shoes. However, I bought two pairs at the same time to rotate: these and Asics Gel Kayano 19. So, compared to the Gel Kayano 19, I can't say anything more positive except these shoes are a bit lighter. In fact, that's what I like most about these shoes.
I have only had this shoe for a few days and did 2 runs. These trainers are great right out of the box. Ran a fast 2 miles outside and they were stable both on the road and off. did 7 miles on a tradmill and they handled perfect.
I finally found it!
I have been in search of the perfect pair of Stability shoes. Some are comfortable but eel big and slow. Some feel fast but hurt my feet. This shoe is a great combination of both! I am very happy and will buy another pair of Wave Inspires when I wear this pair out.
Nice shoe but sizes large
This is a great shoe and is very light. I normally size up my running shoes a 1/2 size but had to go a full size with this shoe. The traction, like the earlier model, seems weak when going fast on wet pavement. Fine with coarse surfaces such as trails, off-road.

Great Shoe for Training
On my 3rd pair with no complaints. Long time plantar fasciitis sufferer but I've had no issues with these shoes. Light and durable for long distance runs or shorter weekly runs. I hood Mizuno doesn't try to improve these, else they may lose a great shoe.
I have run 2 to 3 miles with these shoes about ten times now and They have been great. Shoes feel broken in on the first use and have shown no signs of wear so far. I use to be a Nike runner, but as long as the wave inspires are around I'm sticking to Mizuno!
Bowling Green, Oh
Great for hot humid runs
On my second pair and still enjoying how well these are built. Did a 2 mile break-in run when I got them. The weather was very hot and humid and my feet felt comfortable the entire time.
