I just finished my first 5-mile run with this shoe and am very pleased. No irritations, lightweight, good cushioning, comforms to the natural heel-toe movement of my foot. (180lbs/25 miles per week)

I really like these shoes for a long distance training shoe. They feel great on my feet. I bought them because when I tried them on once in a store, they said "made in USA," however, when I received them, the pair I bought said "made in China" which was disappointing. Note to New Balance-- Please make this and other Neutral Shoes in the U.S. and you will have a lifetime customer.

I was able to put 325 miles on these shoes before replacing them today with the NB 1225. Overall I thought these shoes were average. I'm 5'9", weigh 163 and run 30 miles a week at a 7:45/mile pace. It took me an unusually long breakin time of 40 miles to find a lacing system that worked. Initially I would get a burning sensation on the bottom of my feet after 2 miles. (Had the same problem with Asics Nimbus) Also I was dissapointed in the sweat wicking ability of this shoe. I live in Jacksonville, FL where it gets a tad warm and after 5 miles the shoes held enough sweat to make me think I had been running in a creek bed.

These are nicely cushioned shoes. I really like the fact that they come in widths, as I need the extra room in the toe box. Even with the extra room, the heel still fits nice and snug.

Nicely cushioned shoe. Be sure to try them on! The 1/2 size may be okay for you, but I enjoy a snug fit. ( No snickers please) A very good shoe. Recommend highly.

Previous shoes Asics would give me foot problems and make running longer distances uncomfortable. The 1063's really alleviated this issue. Shoes have good balance and feel for the short as well as longer runs. I'm very happy with this shoe.

NB, I am sorry that I strayed, the other shoes were awful. The expensive Mizuno Nirvana's lasted only 200 miles before the outside of the shoe collapsed, Nikes air bladder burst and Ascics hurt the feet. I am unfortunate in having plantar fasciitis in both feet; running in NB 1063 with Powerstep Pinnacle insoles there is no pain during or after the run. I am starting to enjoy running again and the plantar fasciitis is going away. Best shoes I have ever run in, these are a must buy.

I would actually give the 1063's a 4.5 rating. I liked the 1061's, but did not like the 1062's. New Balance did a good job with the 1063's. The shoe is not as wide and sloppy. It tapers nicely through the mid-foot. The heel is still a hair loose for me. Cushioing is good but not as plush as the Nike Vomero and Asics Nimbus. All in all not a bad shoe.

I wanted to like this shoe, I wouldn't label this as a neutral plus. The fit and quality seemed good but after only a few miles my feet were killing me. This midfoot striker needs much more cushioning than this shoe offers. I hate to beat up on the shoes because the design and running style have to work and it just didn't for me.

For those who are looking for that New Balance fit and feel, this is not the shoe. I like the roomy fit and cushioning of the SL-2 last and this felt more like a narrower stability shoe. My knees hurt, my ankles and hips ached after each 4 or 5 mile trip. Why can NB not make a cushioned neutral plus shoe in the SL-2 last for us 180+ lb runners?

The heel to toe on this shoe is OUTTA THIS WORLD. I have never felt anything like this. Wonderful. I find myself running and feeling very tired, non-motivated, and sore. But I just keep running. My feet feel like they can run an extra 10 miles really, that cushioning in the forefoot and the heel to toe makes my feet feel literally like they are effortlessly moving. I feel like I am running down hill all the time that's how good the transition feels!

I could never run in New Balance until NOW. Always used to fit so sloppy and wide. Man, what a terrific shoe. I have been searching for years to find a great shoe. Thanks to the new Performance Last I can wear NB. Feels lightweight, nice snug upper. My foot does not feel like it's swimming in them. Great cushion. It feels firm but with great cushion, and it's extremely responsive. So many shoes today are so mushy with zero responsiveness. Great for long runs and long fart-lek workouts on the road. NB, please keep up the good work. I LOVE the direction you are heading. Please don't change it up too much. It's perfect. NOW, PLEASE bring back the NB 826/827. Why did you drop it??? It makes NO sense. NB needs a true neutral lightweight trainer and racing shoe.

I have found my replacement for the 826. It doesn't feel any heavier than the 826, and it does feel a little better cushioned. The forefoot is a little narrower than I like, but not problematic for me. My new favorite road shoe.

I am 6'-2" 220 pound that averages around 28 miles per week with a 8-ish pace and typically run on pavement. I bought the NB 1063 b/c of the good reviews and recommendations for heavy runner. Great shoe with a short life. At around 150 miles (approx 5 weeks) there was noticeable wear on the heal almost thru the rubber sole. Bottom line too much $$$ for the life. I will go back to the Brooks Glycerin. That's my $0.02.

Better than the Nimbus 11. Very smooth heel to toe. And love that abzorb SBS stuff in the forefoot. These have more cushioning than the ASICS. These seem to have your foot sit lower in the shoe resulting in a more cradled feel. The nimbus feels more like your foot is on top of the sole. I really like that cradled feel better because it aids in the smooth transition.

I'm glad NB has switched to the narrower last, but didn't like this shoe so much. It is as heavy as the Gel-Nimbus but feels like half the cushion. Although this is a small issue, the shoelaces are incredibly frustrating - they're supposed to be specially-designed to stay tied, but they've come untied at least twice every run so far, and I've never had any problems with regular laces coming untied. I've honestly had twice as many stops in the last 3 weeks to re-tie shoes than I've had in the last 3 years.

Great shoes except for one thing. N-Durance...yeah right. Got about 30 miles on it and the heel is gone! I am 5'9'' and and 160. I don't see why the outsole is already half gone. If it wasn't for that, this shoe would be the best neutral + shoe on the market.

Mon, June 22,2009:
A "watch out" if you're considering this shoe. The "D" width runs way too narrow. Love the design & quality of the shoe but just couldn't make it fit. Seems New Balance & Asics are on a mission to produce narrower shoe lines, much like the Brooks. Why can't these companies just standardize on a "D", "2E", width and let it be! Been a New Balance fan for years but recently switched to the Nimbus-11.

Fantastic shoe overall. On par with the Nimbus if not better. Got about 10 miles on them and the heel is showing a touch of wear. Also where the forefoot flexes the materials seem to be tearing. Otherwise everything is looking like this shoes is pretty good, I give it an -A.

Nice effort by NB. Improvements over the 1062, weight, fit, better response to the runner, heel support is firm enough but also enough cushioning for heavier runners. I run between 30 and 35 miles per week. 5 foot 10, 190. 59 years young. Well done.

Fits better than the 1062 but seems a bit firmer underfoot. Arch support is better as well and a much lighter weight. Overall I am satisfied so far, waiting to see how it is after a few months of running.

Good shoe, but cushioning is insufficient for my tastes. Have run about 30-45 miles since receiving them. Overall, I am satisfied, but going to try the Nimbus 11 just to see if it has more cushioning.

Have been reduced to modest jogs and strong power walks due to double knee replacements. Have tried many brands and continue to enjoy NB products. The 1063 is trhe best shoe I've worn, bar none. No foot fatigue and the shoe is a performing giant. Now, look at the price!.

I am a heavy runner 5'11 and 220lb frame. I run in Mizuno Niravana as well as Brooks Adrenaline. The 1063 seems to give me the support I need. I have a slight supination and this shoe seems to compensate for this. The only complaint I have is in the heal does not fit snuggly but then again this is a neutal shoe. I like it a lot.

I have been running in this series of New Balance for the last 3 years and have liked this series very much (Model #'s 1061, 1062, and 1063). I rotate between 2 active pairs of 1063's, and run about 25 miles per week. I have a wide foot and these are the best fitting shoe for me and my running gate. This year's model is a little lighter, but it is not as "plush" as the last two year's shoes, and I do not like them as much as the 1061 or 1062. However, after about 5 runs I was able to break-in the shoe and make it feel just right. I replace shoes about every 6 months or so because of my size (200lbs) and milage. Overall, this is my favorite series of shoe and have not been able to find a replacement that works as well.

Baaaaaaaaad. After total of 11 miles in these new shoes (4.5/6.5) my right foot hurt so badly i thought I had a stress fx or bone bruise in my heel/lateral aspect of my foot. I'm glad most people are having good luck with them because I have always liked NB and wanted to try them again but it was not to be. Gonna try the new Vomero since Saucony screwed the Tri up!

Shoe feels great, I am a 210 lb runner. I run 20-25 miles a week. Only problem I have is the tongue on the shoe is really stiff and it has rubbed blisters on both on top part of ankle. I have to be really conscious of the socks I were with these shoes to make sure cover that part of leg. Never had to worry about this with shoes before. Don't know if its just me or not?

I'm 6'4" and weigh 190 and run 30-40 miles a week. I think these shoes are great. Much improved on the 1062's. I did have to go to a 2E,the forefoot was a little narrow for me.These shoes feel much less clunky than the 1062.

I am a 185lb runner training for the 2009 ING NYC Marathon. I currently log a base of 30 miles per week, race about once a month and ran a 1/2 marathon 2 weeks ago in the rain. The performance of these shoes is incredible. I have a couple of other runners in the bottom of my closet and they just didn't work. The Nimbus 10s have too harsh a ride and my Nike 360s worked for lower mileage but not so much as it went higher. These shoes are perfect for me in both cushion and stability. They are light enough to feel agile while still giving the right amount of support. I did exchange the inner with a Dr. Scholl's sport gel for better arch support during long runs. I like them so much that I bought 2 extra pairs to alternate. I give these shoes a very high rating especially for a heavier runner.

I weigh 200 lb and I run 30 miles/week. I have used NB 825 in the past which felt really good but I needed more cushioning. This NB 1063 cushioning is substantial and supports my weight BUT. 1) The sole is a little too stiff for me and give me the feeling that I better land flat or on my heels. I like a more flexible sole. 2) The 2E size gives me good toe box space and feel, after 150 miles I havent had any blisters or irritations but from the outside there is redundant shoe material. Not snug. Im now looking into getting Nike Vomero 4 or Mizuno wave creation 10 to overcome the inflexibility concern I have. Id still keep using this one (Im thinking of alternating running shoes every week but I dont know if thats a good idea or a recipe for injuries, will do my homework first).

I just bought a pair of the 1063's last week and have done 2 runs in them, 5 and 8 miles. They are awesome! I feel this model has been upgraded with more cushioning (I also weigh 180 #'s) and smoother inner liner. Great shoes!

The other reviews didn't come close to reality for me. 180lbs. Neutral runner. 20 miles per week. 8 min training pace. Slight hammer toe condition. Standard arch. Shoes feel good on feet, but cushioning was much less than all the Asics I have worn. Also had first toe rubbing in forefoot as there is some wierd way the sole comes up into the toes in the front of the shoe. I'm going back to the Nimbus.

I have never owned a pair of New Balance running shoes before, but I thought I would give them a try. I usually run over 30 miles a week and I'm very picky on my shoe choice! I ran an 11.5 miler the first day I got my 1063's and loved every step. The cushoning is great and they seem to form right to your foot. I would recommend these shoes to any experienced runner who wants a pair of shoes that are comfortable from day one and will feel the same 300 miles later!

After reading all the great reviews of this shoe, I decided to switch from Asics Gel Nimbus 10 to New Balance 1063. After just 120 miles the outsole was already worn 50% at the heels, while I reached 90% wear with my Asics after 800 miles of pounding pavements and gravel. Just two weeks of running and I have to order already a new pair of shows. I'm back with Asics again. Despite otherwise good quality, with such short wear the shoe is not worth the $$.

35 miles in. Cushioning in the heel and forefoot is good. They ride nice. Nice transition. Fit is nice and snug. Excellent lacing. A little better overall than the Saucony Ride, but not enough better to warrant the extra $30-$40.

I tried the Asics 2140 which fit, I also tried the NB 769, which had good cushioning in the heel, ok in the forefoot, but it wasn't smooth, kinda hitched. These are excellent. Walked all around Las Vegas with no prob. Finally a shoe with lots of forefoot cushioning. Very happy with these.

Very nice upgrade. The fit is very much like the triumph6. The front end has a snugger fit but with more length for the big toe. The ride is very well cushioned, stable at toe off,and smooth. It also responds better when you speed up. Those who like a high toe box may not like it but I found it to be the best fitting Newbalance shoe ever. Time will tell with regards to durability.

I ran in 1223s for about a year and was looking for something a little softer. The 1224s were firmer and had less shock absorber so tried the 1063s. They felt much better in a 2 mile / 2 mile head-to-head run. I would say they are a softer 1223 but have about the same rigidity.
