I recently switched to these shoes from Saucony ProGrids. I love these. I have narrow feet and I didn't even have to order a Narrow size - just the regular B width. For average width feet, I can see that this might run a little tight. It's very light weight, very breathable and hugs my heel perfectly. I ran two full marathons and a half in these. They held up pretty good. I feel like it wore out quickly but I was training and running at least 15 miles per week for 6 months per my Garmin it lasted a good 500 some odd miles. I'm on my 2nd pair! and would buy a 3rd.

Love this shoe!
I'm a long time wearer of New Balance and really have found this series to be perfect for my style running. Began wearing the 1220 and am now wearing the 1226. I like having 2 color options so I can alternate my shoes easily. Over the last 1 1/2 years I have increased my mileage and find this shoe to be durable even with the added miles. I like the cushion for running on pavement sometimes. I did try a trail run last year and did not like these shoes for the trail. But will definitely look to New Balance if I decide to purchase a pair for trail running.
Happy with the improvements
I have been in the 1225's and have been pretty happy with them. I needed a new pair and seen the1226's came out. I was in a 9B. When I tried on the 1226, I actually had to go with a 9D because the toe box ran a bit more narrow. Other than that, I am pretty happy with them so far. The tongue has more cushion and they feel more breathable. The laces are so much better than the 1225s!!! Overall, so far I am happy with them.
I originally had the NB 400, when running on my treadmill I didn't have any problem, but once I started outside on the sidewalk/street I ended up bruising my heel. I then did research and which led me to realize that I needed Pronation Control. Very pleased with the first use of the NB1226. Have been running in them for 3 weeks now, no more problems.
love this shoe
this shoe was comfortable right out of the box, I wore for a 9 mile run with no problems, very very comfortable, however I ran 10 miles the following week with the sure feet insoles in this same shoe and it was horrible, uncomfortable, painful etc...I had a very difficult time running that day.
This shoe for me stands perfect on it own, dont change a thing. Love this shoe, even over my Asiscs.

Same shoes in the shoe store cost considerably more than these same shoes at this company...Very pleased with the performance, quality and amount of money I saved because I really wanted these shoes after trying them on in the shoe store. Thanks to Road Runner Sports I have the greatest shoes to run in.
THANK YOU new balance. I have ran in the 1200 series for years and the 1225's were horrible. i had my first 15 mile run in the 1226's today and it was like running with an old friend. i haven't had this great a run since the 1224. thank you for listening to your customers and bringing back everything that was perfect with the 1200 series. the shoe was light, cushiony, great support and so nice on my wide feet.

This is a truly great shoe!!!
This is the shoe I have been searching my entire life for. I have always had a hard time finding shoes to fit my feet, that were comfortable. I would always have to go through the excruciating pain of "breaking in" my shoes, I did not have to do that with these, they were comfortable from the minute I put them on. They are worth every penny!!!

I am a big fan of the 1224... but I think NB is trying to phase out that model. So, I have tried the next best thing: the 1226. It has a similar fit, but lighter and more breathable. The arch supports are prominent in these, but are a little too far towards the heel for my liking. Overall they are comfortable and durable, and I will probably buy these again.
great update to the 1225!
I ran a half marathon in the 1225's which worked fine but I didnt love the sneaker. The 1226 though are a great update. They are light, attractive and have good support. I use these to run outside on pavement and they offer great support and comfort esp during the long runs. They also hug the ankle well as I have narrow ankles.
I have the 1225 shoe & loved it. Training for NY and my mom wanted me to have another pair so since it was a gift I ordered 1226. Went wider based on other reviews & glad I did. Only thing I miss is the shoelaces on the 1225. I've run in these twice now and they feel great and I love the color for a change from blue. Will order again!
I've been a huge fan of New Balance running shoes - they fix my pronation well and they come in wide widths. This is the best New Balance shoe I've gotten thus far. I'm also pleased that they made the green available in a wide width. Most of my running shoes have been blue - this is a nice change!
I use these shoes whenever I run on pavement or on the treadmill. I use my older pairs for working out in the gym or walking my kids to school. I've never had a rub spot, pressure point, or any discomfort with this shoe. When I run on trail I use the Vibram, FiveFinger.

my marathon shoes!
This is my 2nd pair of the 1226s which I will be using to run my first marathon. Used the first pair to train in and decided to buy a 2nd pair to use for the race. Not only are they functional for running outside but they are great to use on the treadmill and also look good. Heel is a bit wide but I have narrow heels.
I'm training for the Susan G. Komen 60-mile walk. This requires a lot of walking, most on pavement, and I walk fast. It's hard on my feet. These shoes are light, comfortable, stabilizing, and fit well around my small heels and ankles. They also hold my orthotics well.
Great Running Shoe
I use orthopedic inserts and have trouble finding the right shoe. Another problem was my toes felt numb after running. A Road Runner salesperson helped me find this shoe in the correct size. Now I do not have pain in my knee or numbness in my baby toes.
Love this shoe
Purchased this shoe for outdoor running. The shoes are very comforatble and lightweight. I was most impressed with the breathability of the shoe, I can definitely feel it when I run. My feet stay cool, even in high humidity.
I have been running in 1200 series and the 1226 is the best. Fits great right out of the box and my runs feel better then ever. I have always enjoyed running, but it hard to believe how good these shoes are!
I love the new update. The shoe feels more comfortable and breathable. The toe box may be a bit more narrow though because in the 1225 I was in a 9B, but I had to get a 9D in the 1226. So far so good!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE These Shoes!
The first time I put on these shoes I was in heaven! They are so lightweight and comfortable. A friend of mine who is an avid runner tried mine on and had me order her a pair.
Cushioned support and stability
I wear a wide shoe. When I tried on the NB 1226, it fit perfect. I am a diabetic and usually on my feet 12 hours a day and they give my feet great stability, adequate cushion and arch support.
Love the update to this shoe. I love my 1225's but the new version seems so much lighter and closer to the ground. I also like that it seems so much more cushioned but not too soft so my feet don't get too tired.
Comfy New Balance 1226
[...] Really like these sneakers. Great arch support. Perfect size. Use them for walking. I like the looks and breath ability. Florida heat! You won't be disappointed with this sneaker.

Put them on and go
I previously wore the New Balance 1225 and loved them. I was pleasantly surprised by the 1226, no major changes in the fit and they were comfortable right out of the box.
I really like them. No blisters!!!
I have really enjoyed these shoes. I ran in them the day after I got them and did not get any blisters. I have ran several miles in them already and love them.

Run faster in comfort!
I have a narrow foot but two bunions. The NB really acommodate my odd faced shoe and allow me to run in comfort without slowing me down.
Very pleased...better than the 1225's. Feels like there's more room in the toe box. I love the great support and comfort. Thumbs up.

Best shoe yet
Training for a half marathon, liked the NB 1225 but love the NB 1226 (lighter and fit better). Already bought a second pair.
Little Rock, AR
I have problems with my forefoot and this shoe is cut wide and availble in a wide width which gives extra room!
I love this shoe. It is comfortable and lightweight. And I love the colors.
