I have been running on and off for 25+ years. I don't run long distances, 1-2 miles each time out 4-5 x per week and I run at a leisurely pace. I must have comfortable shoes because I have had bunions removed and foot surgery for athletic injuries on both feet. If I'm not comfortable I'm miserable. I tried New Balance about 15 years ago and could not get comfortable in them. With all the advancements in shoe technology I thought I would try again. I wear a size 8W neutral+ (professionally fitted) running shoe. I tried ti 1080v4 and again-could not get comfortable during a run. I had also bought another brand at the same time supposedly with less cushioning, and they were much easier to get used to. I had to return the NB. I was sad because I wanted them to work for me but they just don't. They are made well, I loved the style, and they were very comfortable to walk in. They did make my feet hot quickly and the arch seemed a tad high. I would recommend them because there are so many other happy NB customers-I am just one of those unique people who cannot wear them.

Nice looking shoe, but tears after a couple months
I have been running for over 25 years of my life, with 12 being at a highly competitive level. I have tried numerous running shoes through the ages and wanted to give New Balance a try after owning a very nice New Balance trail shoe at one time. After about two months of very average distance per week, 25 miles, I noticed small tears on one side of the shoe near the toe box. I thought I had scraped the shoe against something and that was the reason. However, within one month after that, I had tears on ALL sides of the toe box for a total of four tears. Needless to say, I am disappointed in the durability of the shoe. It seemed to be a pretty good shoe for performance. It was light weight and felt nicely snug on the foot. Unfortunately, I probably won't be buying this shoe again.
Cushiony but stiff
I bought this shoe when I could not get my normal Brooks glycerin shoe in the proper size. This one was on sale and in 10 wide! The wide is makes lacing the shoe properly for my high arches a breeze. This shoe is comfortable to walk around in however it is stiff when you try and run in it. I run a couple of miles at a time usually and sometimes walk another one or two. I have planter fasciitis in both feet so a good fit with a proper arch support is a must. The first run seemed to go pretty good but if I wear these shoes more than once or twice a week to run in then my arches really start to feel it. I also noticed that the shoe seems to slap the pavement as I run. This has not been a problem in the past for me.
I was looking for a shoe with more cushion for longer runs but felt like every time i tried to add more cushion it would add bulk and i would end up with achilles issues. I've tried many different shoes but i think i finally found a shoe that feels perfect for me. I've used them for a couple longs runs on road and trail and they feel great. They are lightweight and have just enough cushion to help soften the impact. I also like the 890v4's for shorter runs I I've tried Brooks, Asics, Saucony but I think I stick with New Balance.
Best fit, Best Quality, Best Shoe
New Balance 1080v4 fits and is comfortable even after running long miles on the pavement. Having a wide foot it is sometimes hard to find a comfortable running shoe that doesn't squish the small toes or cause the feet to go numb. New balance has made a shoe that just fits. I have shopped other brands that offer "wide" but they are usually stiff and can get uncomfortable. New balance 1080v4 gets more comfortable as they break in but the support stays in tact. I am on my 2nd pair I can't praise this shoe enough.

The only shoe I will wear!
I've trained and run several marathons in this shoe. I know New Balance updated this model but I found the new model to be too narrow. I ordered several additional pairs of this model before its gets discontinued.
I've also tried other shoes from other manufactures but always end up with blood blisters after a long run.
Hopefully future models of this shoe will be as comfortable as this shoe.

I was running in a very light Nike shoe. I run three to four mile five days a week. I developed calluses on bottom of feet. Needed more cushion but hated to give up light weight shoe. This shoe is perfect for current problem. New Balance has always taken care of problems as they develop. I've been running for 35 years and although I try other shoes, New Balance is the shoe that consistently works.

Jury is still out.
I loved the 1080V3s! That shoe just worked for me on long runs, no issues injury related at all. My knees, IT band, shins all feel great in this shoe. However, the quality of the V3 was questionable as all 4 pairs I bought within the year came unglued from the soles. I am 1 month into the 1080V4s and keeping my fingers crossed on the durability!
An incredible shoe
I buy a lot of running shoes. I always want to try out the new styles. These are the best! Since recovering from a plantar issue, I have been very selective in my shoe choices. These New Balance shoes have been great! I have been able to do long runs again without foot pain, and racing in these was great, enough cushion but yet still lightweight enough to go fast!

I love this shoe. The folks at Road Runners helped with the selection. I had been running in a minimalism New Balance shoe and developed a callus. These shoes have great cushion without being too heavy. I generally order a size up for New Balance and it was right for this shoe too. I ordered a second pair when I got notice it is being discontinued. Sorry to see it go.

Love this Shoe
Probably not the fastest shoe around, but great for the casual runner who needs stability and cushioning. Fits well, and the narrow width allows me to buy a shoe that is truly long enough without sacrificing a snug heel. I would definitely buy this shoe again or recommend to a friend. I am a 50+ runner who clocks 20-25 miles per week.
Decided to try these since the new glycerin seemed to be a little bit to big. So happy I did. Right out of the box ran a 5K and they felt great. Good cushioning and really light! I have been using them for a month now and I am very happy with them. This is my first pair of NB. I usually wear the nimbus and glycerin.

tearing apart after a month??!!
I loved this shoes from the day I've tried them on, and I was happy to run in it for the last 3 weeks, but then I was unpleasantly surprised when I noticed a hole on the front part where big toe is. Size fits me well, but seems like the fabric they used is just to thin.
I plan to order another pair
So far, I've only worn these shoes at the gym using the eliptical and treadmill. Due to foot pain secondary to years of wear and tear, these shoes were recommended by one of Roadrunner's fit experts. I'm impressed with it's light weight and comfort.
Best shoe ever
I'm recovering from a torn plantar plate and nearly every shoe I've tried aggravates pain at my 2nd and 3rd metatarsal level. This shoe is comfortable, highly supportive, and allows me to return to my usual workout routine. I'm buying another pair!

This NB model has been my go to running shoe for years. I love that I can get it in a narrow width. In shoes, I am a 7 1/2 - 8, but in NB, I need a 8 1/2. I wear them for walking, running, elliptical and exercise bike.
New Balance 1080v4
Ran 10k's in 1080v3 and when retired from running, hike in these 1080v4. Rugged and strong for wide active feet.

An excellent shoe for tendinitis recovery as it fits the heel snugly, controls pronation, and provides support.
