I have no reference, these are my first ever stability shoes. All I know is that my shin splints are gone my knee pain progressively decreased and i went from run/walk 2-3 miles 4 times a week to running 4-6 miles 4 times a week (6'2 210). However, last night (probably 200 or so miles in) I think the support totally blew and i'm seriously hurting today. Also had blister issues on longer runs (>4 miles). I'm thinking of switching to the equalon now, but I have to say for the first 150-200 miles these were great...and way cheaper. If they lasted longer before breaking down I would have rated higher but the break-down happened very rapidly over a coupdl of weeks after months of great runs.

I have now gone through 4 pairs of this shoe and love it. I am 5'10 and 155 pounds and averaged about 60 miles a week in this shoe. Great stability and secure feel on your foot. I hope the 13's are just as good.

This is a great shoe for flat surfaces or trails. I put 30-40 miles on a week and rotate this shoe with others and has held up well.

For a "stability" shoe, they have surprisingly little stability. No side structure. I am large (6'4" 235) and put a beating on shoes (60 - 70 miles per week) and you can literally come out of these if you are not on flat terrain. Also promotes ankle roll, which as we all know, sucks.

I would not recommend these shoes for someone who has more weight. I am around 220, I tried these after using Vomero 3. After two runs i had the worst shin splints i have ever had, and felt as though i had no cushioning. I have switched back to the Vomero's. The difference is night and day. Probably a good shoe for a lighter runner

I have been running for many years and decided to try Nike again. They were very comfortable initially but by the time I had 50-75 miles on them I began having heel pain to the point I have problems walking the next day. I have always used "stability" shoes. Never again!!!

I started running in Triax+ 11s and loved them. These feel just as good. I'm 5' 10", 170-175lbs. The fact that they run small is perfect since normally a 10.5 feels to small and an 11 too roomy. Great shoe!

Sun, August 16,2009:
I ran in the "Nike Zoom Structure Triax+ 11" shoes and they were great. My issue is shin splints in my left leg, and never had a problem with shin splints with the Structure Triax series. I bought what I thought were the successor shoes to the 11s, but by looking at the shoe itself, i can't tell if it's the Structure Triax 12; it only says "Structure 12" on the shoe and does not say "Triax" anywhere. Whatever - my shin splints returned almost instantly when i started running in these shoes. The other day, i ran in my old worn Structure Triax 11s, and experienced no pain. I'm wondering if RR provided me the shoes that i ordered?????

These shoes are excellent so far. I bought 3 pairs of the same shoe. I weigh 220 and am 6'3", so stability plus was the recommended shoe, but I don't run the distances indicated. This is a stability shoe and should last me a good long while. I prefer a conservative design for my shoes and this shoe fit the bill perfectly.

I am 5"-10" and 150. Flat and narrow feet. Wear custom orthotics. Have had problems with stress fractures so I went from Brooks Addictions (worn to take care of shin splints) to Nike Triax+12. I have not had any problems at all with stress fractures or shin splints. I have actually had much less aches and pains with these than any other shoe. I am going to stay with this for the forseeable future.

Ordered these yesterday afternoon, and I got them today around 3pm. Thanks RR for the fast shipping as I couldn't wait to slip these beauties on my feet. I'm recovering from a broken leg, and knee surgery last week, and they feel so great when I walk. They are so great right out of the box, and I haven't taken them off yet. These give me the cushion I need, but more important, the stability. I didn't want squishy shoes while using crutches, or even taking a few steps without them. I highly recomment these to anyhone, but especially for someone who is in the same situation as I am. Great customer service by RR.

I find the AST 12 to be a snug fitting shoe. I have used them in runs up to 4 hrs. comfortably. I've used the AST 11 and found them also snug fitting as compared to the AST 10 which I thought was the best of all the AST shoes I've used over the last 30 years.

Tue, July 21,2009:
These shoes are good, but not as good as the Structure Triax 11. The 11's upper is much more comfortable. The 11's fit in the forefoot is superior to the 12's. Another issue with the 12 is that you can feel the laces on the top of your foot. Otherwise, the sole and mid-sole seem identical. I hope Nike goes back to the 11's upper material and fit in the next version.

I loved the Triax 11, but this shoe doesn't seem as comfortable. The forefoot doesn't seem to have as much cushion. These are still nice shoes, however I'm not convinced these are built for my long (15-20 mile) weekend runs.

This shoe is extremely light and comfortable. Great support and cushioning at the heel. However, I am 200 lbs and every time I go over 5 miles, the ball of my feet start hurting. I don¿t have this problem with my other shoes and would not recommend it unless you are running short distances.

My criticism of the 12s compared with the 11s is that the 11s had a piece of leather on the tongue where the laces grip the top of the foot but the 12s have only a thin piece of cloth. After about 10 miles you can really feel the laces digging into your foot.

Too clunky and slow. The shoe to get is the Nike Air Span 6+. Only wish RRS would carry it. Too bad. They are missing out by not offering this shoe. It's the best shoe I have worn in over 10 years. It's super smooth, supportive, light, flexible and has a teriffic ride. Reminisent of the old pegs from the 1990s. A true gem!!!

Mon, February 16,2009:
I have not yet purchased these, but tried on a pair. Interestingly, the recent Runners World testing scale indicated that the cushioning in the heel area was softer than the 11's. The forefoot was one of the softest in the testing. I have not worn the 11's, but I have the winter version and they are very firm, too much so for pavement, only trails. The 12's seemed to fit me well, but without running in them, I can't say much about the stability or cushioning. I like the Equalon 2's which I have run for about 150 miles. I plan to watch the ratings and I may try the 12's eventually.

Haven't run in 12+'s yet; still have 2 pair of 11s to get through. However, I can say that Nike needs to strive for better quality control within a product line. The blue/silver 11+s fit completely different from the gray/white/yellow model, which is slightly more narrow with less cushioning up front. I'm betting that the different color lines were made at different facilities. Could be the same thing between 11s and 12s...different factories mean different fit. In my experience, the only brand that was ALWAYS the same between color schemes was Mizuno.

I ran extensively with the Triax 11 over the last year. I have a brand new pair of 11's as well as brand new pair of 12's in my rotation. There are only a few very small cosmetic differences visible between the 11 and the 12. Running I can not feel any difference whatsoever between the 11 and the 12. They feel exactly the same to me in terms of cushioning and support. The sole, medial post and crash pad are exactly the same between the 11 and the 12

Nike completely removed all the cushioning in the toe and the heel is too springy.
