Great cushion trainer. Love them. I might add to a previous comment I read. I have been recently changing to the midfoot forfoot strike and do not believe these shoes are hampering my efforts to do that whatsoever. Good luck running.

I love the ride. I have custom orthotics so stability isn't an issue for me.. I needed cushioning... These are like running on Gummy bears....

Mon, January 04,2010:
These are great shoes, but have your gait tested, and make sure you're a true neutral before you invest. There is very little stability in the heel area, which is great for alot of folks, but can wreak havok on your achilles if you're not suited for it. The air ride is amazing..

Been running for 4 years now. Have had New Balance 1000's, Asics Gel-Cumulus, and various Saucony Grid Propel models, and ProGrid Rides . . . .swore off Nike as just a fashion-oriented brand and hadn't worn a pair since having an ill-fitting pair of Shox TL's. These shoes are phenomenal. Feel great, no joint pain, plenty of cushion in the forefoot, and better ride than the ProGrid 6's I retired beforehand. Killer shoes, Nike! Look forward to the Vomero 5 (don't change anything!)

Wed, December 30,2009:
These were great shoes until I began running in Newtons. The Newtons forced me into a true midfoot/forefront striker, and now I cannot run in my Vomeros any more. When I did the extra cushioning in the forefront caused undo strain on the ball of my left foot. I can't run in them without pain now, so back to the Newtons - even for my 22 mile runs. I still rate them high because while I was able to run in them I liked them for my long runs. They just don't work for a forefront striker.

Very much improved over the Vomero 3, which was a disaster, IMO. The 4's are perfect. I'm on my second pair, and loving every second. Great shoe..

6'3, 205, run 30 miles per week. Have been training for a marathon in Soucony Progrid 6 and liked them, but did not like the 7's. Have not been able to wear Nike since High School (20 years) and these shoes are outstanding. Great cushion and flexibility plus not as narrow as previous Nike's. Love them!

Nice shoes, good fit, light and cushioned. I weigh 235 and run 60-Plus miles per week. My only problem is they have no side support and I have found myself coming out of them on side-hill grass terrain.

Great, cushioned trainer, but not too cushy for faster workouts, even longer races. Great also for hard-to-fit low volume feet - no sloshing around! Only minor issue is that sometimes rocks get stuck in the waffle-like tread.

About 6 months ago, I was looking for a shoe that would enhance and encourage a beginning runner. I read about the Vomero 4's on RRS and thought I'd give them a try. Without a doubt, these shoes have improved my running immensely! No joke, I went from running miles in the 10's to running mid 8's in a very short time. I feel the extra cushion on the balls of the feet helped me get comfortable and spring easier. They fit and feel amazing and are still strong after 5 months. I'll be looking at buying another pair next spring. A+++

These are great shoes. I never liked Nike's but when I found this shoe, I fell in love. I'm 5'10 195 with a high arch. Great comfort. Great arch support. Soft midsole but not too soft. I have 320 miles on mine and have just begun to notice a very slight decrease in cushioning. I run on 80% asphalt 15% concrete 5% trails and treadmills. I am going to try and get another 180 miles out of them. I have run 5 20+ milers in this shoe. It is amazing. I just purchased another 2 pair.

I have had several pairs of the Vomeros since the Vomero 2. The 3s weren't quite as good as the 2s. However, the 4s are the best Vomero yet. They seem to be a little more durable. I run 25 to 30 miles per week and weigh 195 lbs. Have runs several half and full marathons. These shoes are knee-savers. Nike hasn't made drastic changes to these shoes and I hope they continue that philosophy.

Sun, November 29,2009:
Great, great shoe. The air ride is superb, and they're extremely durable too. I keep waiting for them to break down like my Asics Nimbus 11's, which gave up around 250 miles, but they are as tough as Timberland boots, and comfortable as bedroom slippers. Nike hit this one out of the park, over everything, out into the parking lot..

Best version Vomero that Nike has made. Great cushioning and right amount of support. Seems to be much more durable than previous versions of the Vomero. I hope Nike does not alter the shoe much with its next generation... they definitely got this one right.

Jeff, if you have achilles issues it's likely you, not the shoe per se - kind of like owning a border collie and wondering why it's always herding - Vomero is a top end cushion shoe, sounds like you need more stability.

Fri, November 13,2009:
As so many others have said, these started as the best shoe I have ever run in... like pillows and made running easy! I am 6'2" and 208 lbs and really enjoyed them. Then came the achilles issues starting on my right leg... I have been seeing my doctor on and off for 5 months trying to recover from injury which lead to a calf tear (compensating for the achilles) and I have to say after all that, I might try a Version 5 of these if they fix the issues. LOTS of people I read about had the same Achilles issues. I had NEVER had an achilles issue before these shoes and have trained for many marathons with lots of miles. Too bad too, since it felt soooooo good!

Thu, November 12,2009:
I am training for my first marathon and had been running in Nike Zoom Structure Triax +12. I decided I needed more cushioning for the long runs. My plan was to continue to run in the Structures for short runs and use the Vomeros only for long runs and the race. After logging runs of 10,18, and 20 miles and cutting 30 sec/mile off my previous pace on all three runs, I ordered another pair of Vomeros so I can run in them every day and still have plenty of miles left in them on race day. I am 6'4" and weight around 195 pounds with high arches. I have been running shorter distances and doing Olympic distance Triathlons for 20 years. For me these shoes are the best I have ever owned.

I can't say these are the best shoes i have ever ran in. They are VERY cushioning. I would say too cushy. I am 6, 2" and am 225 lbs and these things are like running with pillows on your feet. These shoes are so cushy that they make running difficult. You need some resistance and firmness in a shoe....running efficiency requires some firmness and not soak up all the energy you are trying to transfer from your legs to the road. I think there are other shoes best for us bigger guys.

Vomero 3 and now Vomero 4 are best big-man running shoes I've ever used. I'm 6'5" 210-220 and have tried many neutral-plus and stability-plus shoes. None of them have matched the Vomero's level of cushioning and comfort for me. When you are a bigger guy you dont necessarily expect to be running sub-18min 5Ks (unless you are Usain Bolt), you want to run well, feel comfortable, and remain injury free. The Vomero has allowed me to do this.

I changed back to Nike because of this shoe after 10+ with NB. This is a super shoe. I would like it to be more rugid - nice if it kept its cushioning a little longer. With the amount of mileage I have to purchase about every three months. Normally I expect 3-5 months.

Awesome shoes. Very cushiony and great to absorb impact away from knees/legs. It is roomy for those with wider forefoot. I normal wear 2E, but with these I wear the regular width, even with Superfeet green inside. Great job Nike. Please don't change next gen too much.

Sun, November 01,2009:
These shoes are really comfortable. In fact, they are too comfortable. Too much cushion for me. 6'0 180lbs. Walking around in them feels great. I actually prefer them for walking. On my runs though, they are too cushy, and have me feeling like I am working extra hard to keep a good stride going. I am no expert, but my guess is that these would be better for a lighter weight runner who doesn't compress the cushioning as much. I need more response from my shoes, and these just don't provide it for me. I think I am going to try the lunarglides out next, or possibly the avants.

I bought these shoes a few weeks ago. I have never written a review about anything but I have to say these shoes are amazing! I run three times a week 3-6 miles and these are the most comfortable shoes I have ever run in! I have been running in Brooks for 5 yrs and now I will not be buying any shoes but these Vomero's! I am thinking about buying another pair! Incredible!

These shoes are absolutely magnificent. Why take the pounding of a Brooks, or Mizuno when you can ride in Vomero 4 luxury? Be warned though, if you're looking to rotate these with something else, forget about it. You won't want to run in anything else. Period. Nike absolutely nailed it with the Vomero 4..

I had taken a few years off from competitive running so of course all my old favorite shoes had changed. A specialty running store suggested these so I bought them. Initially hesitant because of the high price, but after a few months of training they were worth every penny. I never thought I would take Nike seriously but these feel like they were designed for my feet. I'm 5'8", 150 lbs.

My husband hates to spend money & said he had "enough shoes". The Road Runner Customer Service said these had superior cushioning over any other shoes, even the Gel Aisics (sp?), which he loves, so I got him a pair for his birthday. Guess What? He wore them one day & told me to get him 2 more pairs! "best shoes ever for comfort so far" -- THAT is a testimony! RoadRunner Sports Customer Service is SO great to work with -- this company will be our first choice for future purchases!

This is the best running shoe I have ever used. I like to run in a variety of shoes, including a few underwhelming Nike's. I decided to get these based on the excellent reviews here, and I was not disappointed! The cushioning is great, and they support my higher arch well. I liked them so much I already ordered some for my wife. Even if you've been discouraged by Nike's in the past, get these a.s.a.p. 5-10, 170, 6-mile average run

most reviews seem to have come from 180 pound guys so i am here to say i am 5'10, 125 lbs, run 50+ a week and absolutely love this shoe. im used to running in lighter "performance" shoes(elite 4, victory, lunartrainer) so i was a bit hesitant hesitant about the weight, its a noticeable difference but they were worth it. great fitting upper, transition, ventilation, insole, cushioning and a nicely padded tongue are all pluses. i run on pavement and kept getting knee problems from running in worn out zoom elites but these fixed that

First pair of Nike I've work in years, bought them to replace my Glycerins. The Nikes' had an inconsistent feel and after ~50 miles on pavement the inner heel seems a lot softer than the outer heel resulting in a painful run. I guess they are fine for running on a treadmill but I wouldn't venture outdoors in them.

I'm 5-10, 175 lbs, have high arches, mid-foot striker, and running 50 mpw. I previously used NB 882's for two years and Mizuno Wave Rider 12's for the past six months. I liked the Wave Riders but they wore out after about 200 mi. and I felt my legs were taking a pounding after a 20 mi run. I tried the Nike Vomero 4's looking for something that felt better at the end of a 20 mile run. After 100 miles on the Nikes to date, including two 20 mile runs, I find them to be the better for me than the NB's and Wave Riders. I'm anxiously waiting to see how the Nike's hold up after 200 miles.

I was recovering from a major patellar tendon injury. I was also suffering calf strains and unbelievable shin pains due to an unexperienced salesman at our local shoe store. He was so lacking of knowledge, that his decisions of selling me replacement insoles (that were apparently better than the original nike insoles that came with the shoes) pushed me near the possiblity of going through surgery and a required six months of inactivity. I went out to buy some +4's since I couldn't stand the pain anymore, and the first day back to running my pains VANISHED! I would highly recommend these shoes to anyone who's arch qualifies for the vomero's. Can't wait to see what might come from Nike next.

2nd review after running in two different pairs.Have to still say they rule!My 2nd pair seem to have more cushion than my 1st pair did brand new.Rotating between the blue with almost 200 miles and the green with bout 50miles.Also have a pair of vomero3s that have some miles on them that i use in the winter time.

I have been running in Vomero's for a couple of years. I have high arches and tend to under-pronate so I need a well cushioned shoe. The Vomero is well cushioned and flexible - which I like, however I find I wear out the outsoles (outer heal) much faster than similar shoes from New Balance.

Third pair of Vomero's. The first was great then the 2's got kinda wide in the toes, like clown shoes, skipped the 3s, but the new +4s are great, not like snow shoes any more and still great cushioning.

Been used to Adidas and NB for my high arch and avoided Nike like the plague but these new shoes are the best I have ever used. For the larger sized male runner I would highly recommend these - Nike has made a major improvement to its product line.

I've been running on these for about 2 months. It was love at first run. They are soft, soft, soft...which is great but also led to the problem for which I will have to buy some new shoes to get past. Achilles tendonitis. They are so soft that it caused far too much stretching of the tendon and now it is hard to walk. I took a week off and iced them and gave it another shot. Same problem. I really wish this was the shoe for me but it appears I'll need a firm shoe. Oh well.

Great, just like my Vomero +3. Went with a wide shoe this time. My big toe has a bit of space between it and index toe. So the extra quarter inch seems to have cut down on the rubbing i get on outside of my big toes. still get rubbing on downhills, but thats from foot sliding in shoe (like always).

Nike nailed it. I wanted great cushion and no arch support - these fit the bill perfectly. I prefer these to my Nimbus X's.

I've never been a fan of Nike's for running period. The V+4 changed all that. It looks like Nike is finally starting to increase the cushion in there shoes for those of use that pound pavement. I'm runner and competitive cyclist and even though I'm 165lbs 6'2" I still prefer a shoe that is well cushioned because of an old knee injury. These babies have the cushion and the extra light weight that give you that floating on a cloud feeling that makes running a joy.

Best show I have ever run on. I run on the street,so I hit the pavement hard. I cover 80 miles per week. These shoes go the distance. I got 400 miles before they went flat. I recommend 2 pair and rotate them out.

Best shoe I've ever ran in period! Sure they're a little pricey but in my opinion well worth the money. As a matter of fact I probably will order another pair to have and rotate out.

Loved the V2's, V3's were a yawn, but the V4's rock. Roomier toe box allowed me to drop down half a size with no toe bumping. Shoe is considerably faster than the V3. And at 6', 170 lbs and 56 years of age I'll take all the cush I can get, which these shoes deliver. I actually found these things slightly used at RR Sports Clearance Center in SD for $30, so color me stoked!!

I have put 70-100 miles per week --injury free-- on these shoes for all generations starting at zoom and going thru zoom vomero, v2, v3, and v4. Only the v3 was mediocre for me they wore out very quickly ~250 miles. I don't recommend putting over 400 running miles on any of the vomeros but once you retire them you could easily get over 400 more walking miles on them so I have found them more than worth the money. I have compared them to brooks, saucony, acics and I think the vomeros are way better at least for me. Since I am under 150 lbs can't lend too much to heavier folks, but my guess is that if you are over 180 lbs you might want to try something else.

I've been a runner for over 30 years and this is by far the BEST shoe I've ever worn. Not only is it extremely well cushioned, but the upper allows for alot of flexibility, and has great ventilation. Beyond that I love the fact that the shoe is extremely light. I've worn the shoe in 10K's, half marathons and a full marathon and will be a wearer for life. Long live the Vomero!!

I bought the 3 a few months ago and will give the 4 a try based on my positive experience. I had a broken sesamoid bone removed (not an injury from running) and needed something that cushioned and handled orthotic inserts well. I ordered 1/2 size larger as the site recommends. The shoe handles orthotics fine and the cushioning does not bottom out, I am 5'11" and 175. Working well so far though I am only back up to 12 miles a week, running every other day. Still, I am comfortable recommending this shoe, the first Nike shoe I have owned.

Im 62 205 neutral runner who clocks in about 25-30 miles/wk. After giving me their best miles, it was time to donate my two pairs of Vomero 2s (a great shoe). I bought some V3s and they did not deliver at all and were a disaster for this runner. So, when the V4s came out I was jacked to see if they were an improvement over the V3s. Well after four 5K races and about 30 miles/wk over the past 2 months, I can say these V4s do the job and more. Big plus for me are a roomy toe box, a nice and form fitting heel, soft ride (without bottoming out) and a perfect forefoot landing.love these shoes.will definitely be getting a second pair soon for rotation.

This shoe has great cushioning. I am 200 lbs. and these shoes feel perfect. I ordered the 2E width. Some people advised that these shoes would be to soft and lead to injury, but they are perfect. I have put in 48 miles in these shoes and they are leg savers. Just the right amount of cushion and control. I'm training for a marathon, and can guarantee that this shoe will be crossing the finish line with me.

Was disappointed in the latest redesign of the Pegasus (+26)as they seem to have less cushion, so I tried these. They are more cushioned then the old Pegasus and a lot more than the Pegasus +26. I like them a lot. Another big plus is that I wear them with orthotics and these seem to be a bit deeper so I dont get as much heel slip.

Believe me when I say I am not a Nike fan. I try to avoid the Nike brand at all cost;however, I tried on the Vomero+ 3 and like the feel but unfortunately they didn't offer it in a wide width. When Nike announced the shoe was available in widths I decided to try it. I am very impressed. I love everything about the shoe. The upper is flexible but supportive. The ride is incredibly smooth and comfortable. Like I stated I am not a Nike fan but will endorse this shoe. I generally run in Asics Nimbus, Saucony Ride and the Pearl Streak. Good job Nike.

I give the Vomero 1 star because I had to return it. If I can't wear the shoe it is no good to me so there are no more stars to be given to it. This shoe caused lower leg stress and just didn't fit right. It seemed as though the sole was slightly to the outside of where it should have tracked. The inside of my heels seemed to want to roll off the inside of the insole. Ran in both 10 and later 9.5 hoping it would be better. I'm in between. The cushion was nice, borderline too soft though. I just can't wear Vomero. Too bad Peg now too. This was what got me to come back to Nike but I now realize why I left them in the first place.

I'm a 200 pound runner doing about 25 miles a week. Several have commented that its too soft for a heavy runner, but I believe the opposite. The softness of the vomero lets my joints avoid the pounding I get in firmer shoes. I wore out 5 pairs of the previous Vomero models and dont ever plan to change. i guess we are all a little different. I would say if you have every had achilles tendonitis, you might stay away from the vomero because you might get some stretching from the softness, but my knees and hips and ankles love the vomeros

I am 5'11", 202, high arches. The Vomero presents two problems for runners who are overweight: (1) If you are overweight, you probably need more stability than this shoe offers. The added pounds tend to force the foot to overpronate, even if you didn't overpronate when you were younger and lighter. (2) The cushioning on this shoe is great if you weight 160 pounds or less; if you weigh more, you may bottom out. Bottom line: Most heavier, overweight runners would be well advised to avoid this shoe. Your knees will thank you for it.

After much research on my foot type and shoe styles, I have been very happy with this shoe. Good arch support even without my super feet insoles. Soft cushion has reduced my usual foot pain and I have had zero issues with blisters since switching. The shoe does feel a bit clunky at first which made me a bit concerned. However, it turned out to be a non-issue since my foot type and running style of don't require much. I would definitely recommend this shoe to peope with high arches and who underpronate like me.

From trying on the treadmill only. Felt a bit firmer than the 3, or the 2 which I have and like. Did not buy the 3 but did try it also on the treadmill. Too risky, considering the reviews. 4 Worth considering.

Six feet tall, 175 pounds, high arch. Had Vomero 2, great shoe. Purchased Vomero 3 which I considered a downgrade from V-2. Purchased Vomero 4, incredibly comfortable, much better than Vomero 3. Also purchased Equalon 3 which I returned and exchanged for another pair of V-4. I have tried Mizuno Wave Nirvana, Adidas Adistar, Asics Kayano-13 and Nike Equalon 3. No more changes for me, I'm stuck with Vomero. They do not last as long but are great shoes if you have high arch.

Tried on the NB 1063, the Asics Nimbus 10 & the Nike Vomero+4. It was no contest for my high arched feet - the Nike Vomero+4 is a dream! Supreme cush at the back/mid/forefoot is perfect. My arches are so high, I have to supplement - so with the RRS Arch Runners, it's perfect for my 6'2" 190# frame. I will buy this shoe again and again! Worth every cent. My first run was 7 miles w/no knee pain. And my cool-down walk felt like the shoes were almost massaging my feet! DIG 'EM!!!

It seems to have just alittle more arch support. It really doesnt feel that much heavier than the v3.The toe box seems to be just alittle bit wider which i like. The forefoot cushion is alittle firmer but its still soft, seems alittle bit more responsive than bouncy. The v2 was by far the softest but bouncy. This version feels alot like the orginal with more room!Great job Nike

I just finished putting 500 miles on my last pair of NB 1063s. Good shoes, but just not cushioned enough for lots of miles each week. I have been in this schoe for a week and find it to be very cusioned, no trouble, and easy to run and cross train in. My only hope is that it absorbs the miles as well as the NB, because I really like it thus far. Thanks Nike.

This is the only MC shoe that Nike has. For the first few miles, the shoe is fantastic and I thought I found a new shoe devotion. But after an hour (and your foot will swell) the box of the shoe is too small and I developed blisters. So for <5 miles the shoe might work for most people. Otherwise I hope Nike designs a Zoom Nucleus with a EE fit.
