Run like a ninja...

I've had these shoes for about a month...I traded in my Brooks PureFlows for these (they were giving me blisters on my toes). I'm a true size 8 and these shoes are a little on the narrower and small size, but after running in them the last month I'm really growing accustom to the fit and actually enjoy the glove like feel. As with other reviews regarding the Nike Free's they do tend to make your feet hot, but I intend to run with a thinner sock and may even dare to go sock less (seems to be the new trend in minimalist shoes). What I really love about these shoes is their sole...It's gummy and springy. When your stride is in rhythm it seems like you can't even hear your feet hit the ground (I've snuck up on many a pedestrian while running). The more I run in them the more I'm falling in love (other than the rocks that I have to pick out of the waffle sole...which I am making part of my cool down routine). Prior to running in a minimalist shoe, I was a big fan of the nike pegasus series. After running in these shoes I will never go back to a normal running shoe. I've strayed from Nike before, buying a couple different pairs of Brooks, I've learned that I'm a Nike guy. They tend to make shoes that suit a more narrow to average foot...every pair of Nike running shoes that I have bought I have been more than happy with.

Best in Free line-up IMHO

Had the chance to run with these for 8 weeks last year(I'm a Nike shoe tester) and ran San Francisco marathon with them. Very comfy and my fave shoes to date (I normally run with Free Run, Vibrams, Pure Connects). Heel to toe drop is better(less) and very breathable. A little narrower than the Run+ but not a big deal. Can't wait to pick up a pair!

While I always buy up at least 1/2 a size, it wasn't even close this time. I owned the Free 2 and loved them at 12.5. I didn't last 5 minutes in the new version at the same size. The toe box is so much more narrow and over all the shoe length seems less too. Even the top felt tight with the new half-tongue. I can't even rate the performance because they were too uncomfortable. It may be a great shoe, but perhaps only if you can test it in the store first to see if it will fit. I can't recommend over the web. I am wondering if those runners with smaller feet have a more true fitting because the reviews on fitting seem to be hit or miss.

Felt good to run again

When I first put these on I thought "This is why I shouldn't buy on-line!" since the left shoe was very tight across the top. However, I gave it a shot anyway, and went out and ran a 5k training run as if it were a race. Very fast shoe, comfortable after all, and I felt guided into running in a mid to ball of the foot strike. Nice shoe.

Nike does it again..

Nike hit another home run. I have the Free Run 2 and 3, and now the 4.0, each of them is fantastic in their own way. I love the Nike Free line, just sorry I didn't try them sooner!
