I was looking for a trail running shoe and ultimately went with the Nike Pegasus because I use the Nike Vomero's as my regular running shoe and wanted something with a familiar fit. I also called the RR Fit Expert and asked about the note saying to get a size larger and was told I should use the same size as my Vomeros. When the shoes arrived the fit was as expected, comfortable and just like my Vomeros. However, after wearing around the house for a while the insole began rubbing my foot the wrong way. I almost returned them but decided to try them with an aftermarket insole I had in another shoe. Those worked great and after taking these for a test run through some trials I am a happy customer! The grip on these shoes was great and I especially noticed the secure grip on some of the steeper downhills.

Best road shoe for cushioning.
I bought this shoe for trail running but discovered that it performed better for me as an extremely well cushioned road shoe.
I do use it occasionally on trails but because it is so wide an soft it feels unstable for my D width feet for trail running.
I wish the Vomero and standard Pegasus felt as well cushioned. I believe the sole tread is the main factor giving this shoe the extra cushioning.
I'm basically a injury prone forefoot striker so I am always looking for the absolute most cushioned shioe I can find. So far the Pegasus Trail is my favorite..............road shoe.
Ugly but very functional!
I am a hiker who would love to trail-run more, but I've always been limited by the pounding my knees take. They just can't take it.
I recently started running in the Air Pegasus+29 road for my yearly military fitness test, and they're so good I bought the trail version too. The Trail version is not as "grippy" as say, the Inov-8 RocLite 295s which I love, but those just don't have enough cushioning for me. The Nikes, however, have lots of cushioning and are actually much more versatile for trail, hard-packed dirt/clay surfaces, and if you have to go on pavement. Ugly as heck but very good!
Pegasis 29 trail
I have the non trail 29's and wanted something with better forefoot cushioning so I ordered the trail version. The forefoot cushioning is much better in the trail version which I wear on the roads as well as the trail. The uppers on the trail version are different from the road version. The trail's uppers fit a bit looser. Even the lacing is different. The trail version is also heavier. A good training shoe for all terrain.
Great Trail Shoes
I bought these primarily for trail use and based upon the great reviews here on RRS. My road running go to shoe is the Air Pegasus so these were a natural for me to try. The cushioning is very good and even better than the regular Air Pegasus - which have given me many miles of injury free running on the road. They are not as light as some trial shoes that I have owned but they cushion much better and seem more durable then them as well.

Great go-to shoe!
Bought these because of the great deal. Normally need a EE width running shoes. Took a chance with the standard width, and was pleasantly surprised that they fit rather well. Should have bought a 2nd pair as they no longer have my size available. Pegasus- always a great all around/year running shoe!
Great shoe lives on!
Excellent shoe for the Nuetral runner. I recommend them to all my newer runners, for comfort and durability. I've worn Pegasus for over 20 years, and I love the fact that they don't stray from the consistent design! Keep makin' em like you're makin' em!
Ugly as sin, but great deal and shoe!
If you buy regular Pegasus, the trail feels slightly larger, but not quite a full size vs. the usual half. This could be a good thing for thicker socks, though I've not had a chance to try these out in colder weather or poor road conditions, which was my original reason for buying them. The upper is a bit stiffer, as you'd expect on a trail shoe, but cushioning seems the same. I'm as happy in these as regular Pegasus.
So great, bought 2nd pair!
Bought 1/2 size up first pair but found out that was not necessary. Although first pair fits "OK", this true size is a perfect fit.

Great wearing shoe
I Use these for casual wear at work and play. Walking is a delight in them.
The cushioning is fantastic.
The performance is great, only downside in my opinion are the looks.
Just a great shoe!
It is so hard to find a good reliable shoe. Glad I found this trail version.
Great shoe. No need to buy 1/2 size up.
Website said to buy half-size bigger but would have been better fit with true size.
