I've only had these shoes for a week and I'm blown away about how much I love them. I maintain such a beautiful momentum with these! I had been eyeballing them for a while but the price was a little too high for me. Then thanks to my VIP membership I got these $60 dollars off the price. They feel a little awkward at first on the count of the lugs but after about a mile they felt great. I only ran about 2 miles in them since they recommend it for getting use to the extra push of the lugs but I felt like I could run for miles. Now every time I run I only run in these. They are lighter then they look which was a plus and they feel great barefoot! I am definitely a Newton person from here on!
I get so many compliments on them. They really are eye catching :)
Great shoe to transition to barefoot run
I bought this shoe to help make the transition to barefoot running. I just was not sure about jumping in to the vibram world after years of using the "traditional" heavily cushioned running shoes. These shoes were perfect to help me to start focusing on midfoot running and improve my running form. I tore my ACL playing soccer in high school and have had sensitive knees ever since but the only discomfort with these shoes was the pain in my calf muscles in the first couple of runs. This was just from working the muscles and not any type of injury. With the Newtons I have never experienced any knee pain and the cushioning was enough to help get me through the transition to mid and forefoot running. I am now running in barefoot shoes (sandals on the road and Merrells on trails) and my knees have never felt better. Be careful trying to run too far at first though since your calf muscles will be aching!
These shoes were better for road running than trails since small pebbles can get in on trails, but they are still doable.
Great: Super light, great for mid and forefoot running, breathable.
Cons: Kind of pricey

Awesome long distance running shoe
I just bought the gravity shoes a month ago, my first newton pair of running shoes. I love them because I no longer hurt after long runs
LIke I did with other brands. Yesterday was a 16 mile training day for my ironman even in a week and today I feel great, my hips and thighs do not hurt all because of the newton gravity. With other brands my hips hurt, lower legs and Achilles tendons just prevented me from really doing the hard training. Now with a from the heavens gravity shoe I can do the hard work and not worry the the next day I will not be able to walk. The toe box is roomy it takes a adjustment to get used to, but lace up tight.
Their is no down side to this shoe in my opinion and I am a 46 year old full ironman distance age grouper.

Newton at their best
Newton has finally returned the fit and feel of the Gravity model back to the good ol days when they felt natural like the 2009 models (all red w/white bottoms). At the same time, they use newer materials so they are more breathable and forgiving/softer in the upper, and lighter. I have had over 8 Newton shoes (Distance, Distance U, Gravity, different years) and these are my favorite for training and marathons. They run 1/2 size larger than the old Gravity shoes from 2011. If you didn't like the old Gravity 2011 shoes (like me) then give these a try, they fit more like the Distance models. Quality materials throughout. Greatly improved quality over 2011 models.

I'm a believer
Just did my first run in these, 10 miles, and I'm very happy - my legs were not tired at all after finishing, which is kind of amazing. At 200 lbs, I'm a bit heavier than most runners - have been running on the Asics gel-nimbus for a while, was using the Nike Vomero prior to that. Both of those shoes would start to give me issues after 100 miles or so - so I'm interested to see how these last for me. I've been a mid-foot runner for the last 4 years, so transitioning to these was easy - but I've not had the experience of a long run without my legs getting at least a little tired. Perhaps it's my first run, and it won't last - but I expect it will, since these shoes really seem to reward the proper stride. Looking forward to my next half, running in these shoes...
Best running show I have ever had
These are easily the best running shoes I have ever owned. I stocked up on them because after 350 miles of training and racing, they wear out. The only knock I have on these are that the laces don't stay tied very well, even when double knotted. For the cost of the show, the laces should be better. But when I switched to this show, I was immediately faster, leg/foot pain sibsided and I felt my form was more true. Love them
BEST NEWTON'S UNTILL NOW
This is the best shoe ever made by Newton. I usually run 5 miles 7 days a week but since I bought this my fourth pair of Newton's, I just feel like running and running. Now I run up to 8 miles in one session. I think this company is going to grow exponential because of the technology that their shoe has. I saw that last year they sold 120,000 pairs, I think this year they are coming close to a million. Great Job!!

I am a big supporter of Newtons and their philosophy, so it is difficult for me to write this. However, the latest update to this very successful model is a real disapointment. Heal is noticeably softer than last two model years leaving me with achilles and heal pain. Sole looks cheaper, arch support non existent, last better suited for flat feet. Loved previous versions. Poor update.
Not the same fit as previous Gravity
I'm a long time Newton fan and have run in the previous Gravity models. I orederd the 2012 model in size 10 which is same size I've worn this model in the past. I find that the new model runs about 1/2 size larger and the forefoot is also somewhat roomier. I didn't run in them but they also do seem somewhat lighter. I'll update when I receive a pair of 9 1/2's.

This is my second pair!
I run about 30 miles per week and three to four marathons per year. I am 63 years old and run around a 9:00 - 9:30 pace. The gravity is a very comfortable shoe on all types of runs.
Update to March 16th review
I've now run more than 100 miles in these babies alternating with the 2011 Gravity. My conclusion is that the 2012 model improves on a winner and is a generally more comfortable and more responsive shoe. Downsizing 1/2 size also moved the ball of my foot slightly forward which I believe helps me to make more efficient use of the lugs. They are definitely the best shoe I've ever run in.
