I started running late in life (58) and have been happily at it for 7 years. It took a while to find my dream shoe since I didn't go directly to a professional running store. That shoe has been the Brooks Pure Cadence. I don't pronate significantly but I preferred the cushion to the Pue Flow. It was always perfect right out of the box. I wore a new pair on my 2nd half marathon and without a problem at all.
But I didn't like version 5 (luckily I hoarded an extra 4) and thankfully Brooks plans to hark back to that in version 6. But meanwhile I was looking for a lightweight, low heel drop, low profile alternative. When I got the On Cloud on my feet it was love at first step. I originally thought I'd wear them for walking and as a casual shoe in general. I love that they slip on and off once one adjusts the elastic laces, they breathe well (sometimes I wear them barefoot though they're a little large for me in that circumstance).
Then I took them on a trip planning to double them up as running shoes, since who among us doesn't struggle with how many shoes to bring on a trip? Turned out I ran 4 miles in them the first time and had not a twinge during or after. The cushion is wonderful, yet one can still feel the ground---a good balance between these elements. And they are LIGHT. I got many compliments on their unusual looks right away just wearing the here and there. I'm planning to get another pair just for running since I keep hearing running shoes should be reserved for running only, or at least mostly so.
I am an 8.5 in street shoes and have always worn a 9 in running and hiking shoes. I tried the 8.5 in these, thinking they might be roomy enough with thinner socks, but they felt small and not worth the risk with swollen feet for sure. I have average to slightly narrow feet. I possibly could have worn the 8.5 with bare feet but that was not my plan. They feel best with medium thick socks but I've run in them with thin ones and they didn't feel sloppy; just not snug like my Brooks.
When I first ran in them I tried the regular laces. But I'd gotten spoiled by the support and give of the elastic ones. I found I had to tie the non elastic ones too tight for comfort in order to get the same snugness.
There are stories of the outer later of the lugs chipping off in reviews here and there but I have seen little wear on mine. I'm not a high mileage runner but I'll be curious to see how they hold up over time. The quality is excellent in general.
I was encouraged to try these on when I was looking for another brand of neutral, light-weight running shoes to rotate with my Brooks Pure shoes. My feet in love immediately. I thought I'd only use them as a casual shoe, and I have gotten lots of compliments wearing them that way. They come with elastic laces as shown in the photos, which you can adjust by changing the length with the location of the knots. It makes for a very convenient slip-on. They also include traditional laces which are very very long, even double-knotted. I was facing cutting them but decided to go with the original lacing. As for size, I stuck with my history of going 1/2 size up in running shoes. With anything but the thinnest socks it's worked out fine. They are even comfortable enough to wear barefoot, but they would probably work with my regular shoe size doing that. I did try my normal shoe size and it was just small enough with socks to risk the foot-swelling that comes with long and/or hot runs. I'm talking so much about size because another reviewer dealt with the same dilemma.
Anyway, they are like walking on clouds! When I finally ran in them I had no aches and pains after a pretty long run (7 mi) even though I was expecting them to be too little shoe for long runs. The jury is out on how they would work for half-marathons, e.g.; my longest distance. One caveat: the soles are stone collectors on gravel. Since I mostly run on roads, it's no big deal. The same reason they collect stones----the big spaces between the pods---also makes them a cinch to pop out.
I can't yet attest to durability but they seem to be very high-quality. Made in Switzerland, I believe.
Very good shoe with some caveats
On Cloud is a very good running shoe and a great everyday shoe. I run low mileage (15-20 mi/week) and they have been great for me, but after 280 mi. I had to replace them as the black outsole patches have completely worn out (to be fair, I also wore them as street shoes). They are very light, look good, lacing system is great (I love slip-on) and generally very comfortable. But: pebbles and small rocks will definitely get stuck in between the pods and you'll have to stop and take large ones out, cushioning is only average, and they wear out quickly. That said, I will continue to wear them as casual street shoes.
Light and fit well
This has become my go to running shoe after years of heavier and more cushioned shoes. I feel like I have a much better sense of my whole legs, from toes to hips. The elastics are the best, once they are adjusted to your foot, you never have to worry about tying laces again, and for me at least, it seems that the shoe hugs my foot better. The shoe is light, but the clouds cushion quite well for me. My average distance is 3-10 miles depending on whatever else is going on in my life! I am petite and small framed, so my observations may not apply to other body types,

I wear a 7.5 for most of my shoes. I read that these run small but I have to disagree. The 8 was too big. I wear a 7.5 in my Reebok real flex and 8 in my Nike. The On leaves about a thumbs width at the end in my 7.5, that's how I prefer them. If you like extra toe space you may want a half size larger. 8 felt clumsy for me. They are narrow which fits my foot well. I don't like wide toe boxes, simply because of esthetics. Very comfy and the arch support is adequate. I have an average to high arch. The 8 did not support my arch as well as the 7.5. Best of all, this shoe is prettier in person! The black is almost more of a charcoal. To be fair I didn't buy them to run in, can't speak from personal experience but my husband ran in his on a treadmill and he loves them. Says they are the most comfortable shoe he's ever had.

Love these shoes!
I was surprise that a show this light could offer such excellent cushioning. These shoes fit well (a have an average foot with a mid to high arch) and feel great. I am an "older" runner/athlete so comfort and cushioning are very important. But I hate the feel of heavy shoes that weigh me down. These are perfect!
Historically, I wear a size 10D in running shoes (size 9 in regular shoes). These 10B felt plenty wide but seemed to run long. Had I kept them, I probably would have sized down to a 9 1/2. Putting them on, they felt instantly comfortable. I like a level 3 cushion to run in and these felt great. I had two issues with them, though. First, they ended up giving me blisters on the side of my big toe (on both feet) and on my first metatarsophalangeal joint (on both feet). Second, the sole does not provide much traction, and I felt the shoe slipping on even the slightest wet pavement. While I think these shoes would be great to have if you'll be doing a lot of walking...using them for running didnt' work out for me.
Do not recommend f you need good shock absorbency shoe
I've been running for 37 years (32 years in Asics and last 5 years in Brooks) and have always had great shock absorbency and no injuries. I was excited when I read the description of these On shoes and was expecting them to be great performers. To my great disappointment, these are the worst running shoes I've ever had in my 37 years of running. There doesn't seem to be any shock absorbency and when I run with them there is a lot of jarring. In addition, since there is a lot of space between the clouds the shoes pick up every rock on the street so I end up running on rocks. The only reason I gave these shoes a 2 is because of the no-tie shoe laces and the light weight.
Like the shoe so far
Just got these shoes, I am trying them out on a friends recommendation. They have 2 sets of laces, the ones on the shoes are elastic, I like them as they allow me to easily slip the shoes on and off, they are not threaded through the lace holes over the ball of my foot which allows room for my bunion on my right foot. The Cloud is a pretty minimal shoe, super light weight with adequate cushioning. I am not sure how they would hold up for a marathon. I previously ran in Brooks pure connect and Altra, neither were perfect. So far they are really comfortable and fit well, I usually run in a size 7 but wear a size 6.5 for street shoes.
Running on Cloud 9!
I have tried and returned other ON Models and this one is PERFECT for me. Light weight, cushioning does NOT feel clunky like in Saucony Sneaks and beautiful colors. Will be buying more. Also great for walking around.
Light-Weight Running Shoe
I was curious and decided to try this light-weight running shoe. Wore it on a short run (4 mi); the sole is airy and fast. Heel-to-toe turnover is good. Felt as if I was barely touching the ground. The toe box is spacious. Minor flaws...ordered size 7.5 women's shoe but a little too spacious for my preference; and, could hear the rubberized sole on the asphalt (squeaky) but it didn't matter after I wore my earplugs. Suggest sizing down 1/2 size. Good shoe for a neutral performance running shoe and for any length run.
Woman's On Cloud Running shoe (Gray/Pink)
Finally received my shoes after being sold and on backorder for so long. Worth the wait!! Shoes are very comfortable, they do make you feel like your "take off" time if faster and more stronger. Only thing is that these will probably not do well when running near trails. I live next to trails so even hitting the road, rocks get stuck under my shoes. But other than that, shoes are great! Will be purchasing a second pair.
Run On Clouds!
These shoes are everything On says they will be! Amazing! My only complaint is that if you run on trails or gravel roads, rocks tend to get lodged in the center channel.
Like them, but don't love them
These shoes are incredibly comfortable for walking, but I don't love them for running. I feel like I am walking on clouds, but I still feel like I am running on hard pavement. Also, the shoes come with elastic laces, and I find it difficult to adjust them to the correct tightness for running comfortably. They are great-looking though, and I am happy to have them as everyday casual shoes.
Feels like nothing on my feet
Great shoe for circuit training. Helps me keep my footing and doesn't feel heavy towards the end of my workout. It's ok on the treadmill.
These are my favorite running shoes ever. They're light and do have a bit of a minimalist feel, but I don't like or need all the fancy cushion-y stuff that is popular with running shoes today. I love that they don't have typical shoelaces. I'm a toe runner, so I don't heel strike at all and these shoes are perfect for me.
I've ran in the shoes at least 5 times now (2-4 miles a run) and I think they are very comfortable. They are lightweight and I was really happy that they come in neutral colors. I do believe that I would've been better off sizing up a half size for running in them; however they are very comfortable when walking.
NOT FOR HIGH ARCHES!!!
My husband loves his Clouds, so I ordered a pair.....BAD PLAN.
The entry to the shoe is so low that I could not even get it on! The entry has ZERO stretch/give, so they are going back.
Too bad this was not on the review as I would NOT have ordered this shoe.
Nice shoe but not much cushion
Really like how light the shoe is and it fits very well. I didn't give it a 5 stars only due to the fact that it doesn't have much cushioning and I am not sure if it will last as long as other running shoes such as Asics.
Comfy and lightweight!
With a wide foot, these are one of the few sneakers that actually fits my feet without any awkward rubbing or tightness. Plus they are super lightweight and easy to slip on and off...My new favorite sneakers!
Great shoes; I would definitely buy again.
Great fit and comfort; although I am only walking in them now. Lately my feet have hurt no matter what shoes I wear, but not in these. That is a pleasant surprise, and so was the low sale price.
yes - this is the second time I have bought this shoe
i love this shoe as it really is a slip-on without needing laces and I use the shoe for my total conditioning classes at the club.
LOVE THESE SHOES!!
Best shoe ever! I went from New Balance 860 to addias boost and then found these. They are the best! Light and super comfortable.
Love these shoes!
They are my favorite shoes so I gave them as a gift! You guys don't carry my size. I'm a 5.5. Had to buy directly from vendor
extreemly tight and no way to adjust the ties also heel was a bit excellerated eally disapointed from your rave1
The shoes are great and the wife will wear nothing else. Eighth half marathon in the brand ... and style. Thanks so much.
Definitely 24/7 comfort!
Love love love On Cloud shoes. Not impressed with the fact that the shoe strings knots don't stay tied and are frayed
Not for me
Narrow and habve very little cushion. I expected much more responsiveness and tey had none, Nicew looking though.
