I bought this headlamp because in the winter, I have to do most of my running in the dark. Since acquiring the headlamp, I don't know how I ever managed to run without it. Although reflective gear and LED armbands make me visible to others, they don't always make other things visible to *me.* I no longer have to worry about tripping over debris in the roads or cracks in the broken sidewalk! I thought a headlamp might be bulky or uncomfortable but this one is not. It's light, well-constructed, durable, easy-to-use, and versatile: you can adjust the focus of the lightbeam as well as the light to a variety of settings (more intense, less intense, flashing, red, etc.)

I LOVE my new Petzel Tikka headlamp, which I ordered in iris. I have taken this on many early morning runs, as well as late night runs. It has a wide array of light brightness options. It is lightweight and you do not even realize you have it on once you get going. The light is BRIGHT. I have run with this in the deep forest in the snow in the pitch darkness, and it illuminates the area. In fact, on a recent run my running partners' headlamp died out, and mine was more than bright enough for the both of us. I am so geeked out by this I am now finding reasons to run in the dark!

Great, but pricey

Have used it running and camping. The red light is great at night so you don't blind the person you are talking to at a campground. The blinker is handy. The switch takes a little getting used to. Bought and Energizer headlight for way less and I may like it better, but don't expect it to be as durable as this one.

Awesome for running in the dark!

Training for ny marathon has me up running at 5:30 most mornings and I try to run on less travelled roads for safety, but these roads can be quite dark. This light changes it all! I can see everything with the intensely bright beam.

Very good light.

My schedule changed and I needed to start running at night. At first I bulked at the price, but figured it was better than carrying a high powered mini-flashlight. Comparison shopped and decided on this one for the extra lumens. Glad I did. I use it anytime I need an extra light.

What you need for running at night.

The wide-setting was great for peripheral vision and showing the ground in front. Great visibility. Illuminates street signs intensely. This product was of most use to me during a nighttime run during the MC200 relay when I was in an unfamiliar area. I had no problems seeing where I was going and watching my footing with this lamp.

Great for the early morning and late evening on a long day hiking. The Red Light feature works great during those partially moon-lit nights. The two-level white light and spot vs. flood make this a very versatile hiking tool.

No Hype--this headlamp delivers!

My daily work schedule dictates that I get my running done early in the morning (0430 to 0600). My route takes me away from street lights and it's really dark this time of year, so I finally broke down and bought this headlamp after some nasty falls and ankle turns. What was I waiting for? This is a fantastic product! Light weight, comfortable and plenty of light on the dim setting. Not to mention that oncoming cars could see me much sooner than with my safety vest alone. I would recommend this product to any one that needs to get their run done in the dark. Thank you RRS for finding and selling these truly great products!

I have used this headlamp several times. The only negative comment is that it is a little heavy.

Plenty of Light

I've run late at night with this light. It provides plenty of light to see the road but it's not heavy. Not only do I use it when I run, I also use it around the house. My only negative is that you have to fiddle with the button to get the desired mode. I marked best use for men because I can't imagine my wife walking around the house wearing a light on her head.

I decided to break down and wear a headlamp since my runs are before or after work. Call me a geek, but better safe than sorry. It does make me more visible, and the light works on trails well. I like the Tikka because I don't need to have a cap on, and this is the brightest one they make.

This is a great light. It is very lightweight, great illumination. It has nice adjustments for the direction of the beam. It also has a red light function (not sure what that is for). It also has a flashing light setting that I think is for distress.

I was running at night with an LED flashlight, but wanted to free up my hands. This light is bright enough to see your way, is lightweight, and the angle adjusts to illuminate the right area ahead. Only downside is I'm not sure how to remove the light so I can rinse out the sweaty band.

Great light allowing me to run at night. I'm now going to run after work with this instead of having to go and run on a treadmill. The first time I used it someone stopped me and asked where I got it and said that they were trying to run with their Iphone light and wanted something brighter .

I took a chance and bought the top of the line- this is a real value story- the light is steady, strong and makes cars stop in their tracks! It never feels too heavy on my head and really lights the darkest of roads - if you run at night this is a must!
