This jacket is exactly what I need for cold winter runs in NYC. I got my first chance to try it last night for the New York Road Runners New Year's Eve Run. It was about 36F with some wind. Under it I wore a short-sleeved T and a long-sleeved thermal shirt. (For colder temps, I might wear two-long sleeved shirts instead of just one.) The jacket kept me warm for nearly an hour as we waited for the race to start. The padding on the front is a great wind stopper, but it's not too heavy and it stretches. Once I got running, it was warm but not too hot and I felt like it was breathable and wicking. It has lots of handy pockets, including a chest-level one for my iPod Nano. I got a medium and it fits my long-armed 5'7" 135 frame well. The only minor gripe is that when it's not fully zipped up, the collar can be a bit irritating as it stands up a bit and brushes against my chin, but I expect that I could fold it down if necessary. And most of the time it's going to be cold enough to keep it fully zipped. And my husband said I looked great in the jacket. Now I'm really looking forward to the winter racing season - looking forward to putting on this attractive and comfortable jacket will help get me out of bed on cold winter mornings. I love this jacket so much, I ordered a second as a Christmas gift for my sister, and she has been wearing it on her bike, while running and for errands in Washington State.
