Maybe I'm long waisted but these work for me. I also like the thin leg straps for running.

I agree. I bought 4 pair of an earlier version of these and they are great...wear them all the time. These have a longer rise and don't provide as much support. I like the change to the thinner leg straps, but I wouldn't purchase these again due to the long rise as mentioned in another review.

I liked these, I was looking for something smaller while running, and this works perfectly. Only con is that I wish it had a shorter rise.

I bought the version that they had in 2007. It looks the same as this one but I don't know. The ones I have are pretty neat. They are not too constricting. That is why I like them.

I agree with Dave. I own the older version of the Coolmax jock, and it was much better than this version. I am very disappointed with the new version, especially the fact that there is no support whatsoever.

I had to replace my original Cool-Max jocks that I purchased from RRS years ago and bought the Dry-Road Jock and was very, very disappointed. Waistband is not covered (as in the cool max version) leg straps have very little elasticity, there is no pouch whatsoever and the pouch is too long so support is minimal at best. For the first time ever, I experienced testicualar soreness the day after a run due to the lack of support. If you *like* the DryRoad Jock, it's only because you never got to run in the original Cool-Max version. For now it's back to the "Bike" brand that we all grew up with. Would not recommend.

I'm with Will: Bring back the old Coolmax briefs. I have two pair that are ready to be trashed but they were great while they lasted - comfortable, supportive and durable. New RRS briefs don't compare.

I have two pairs of your coolmax running jocks that have to be way more than 10 years old. They are just holding on by the thread (in fact I've had to knot one of them because the elasticity was shot). But they were the best jocks anywhere and I haven't been able to find anything like them - and you've been out of stock of these for a while.
Reading the reviews it seems some guys are finding the later model not as effective as the old model (presumably the one I have). Hope you bring these back like the old ones - and soon!

Initially, I was very pleased with this jock. I was looking for a light-weight, less binding jock for running and this fit the bill. However, after several months of wear and washing, this jock has lost its shape and, thus, some of the support. I really like the overall concept of this jock, here are some suggestions to improve on it for the future: keep the waistband as is and the light weight material, the pouch needs to be a little bit wider and the legstraps need some elastic in them to hold their shape and not twist. It is very difficult to find a jock for running, so please make the small improvements and keep offering one as part of your inventory.

Comfortable waist band and 'feel' but I cant avoid saying that I wont purchase this item again. The pouch shape and overall sizing are not in tandem meaning that it does not always keep your genitals in.

I have been searching for a comfortable, less binding jock to wear for running. This one has come the closest to meeting my needs. I think that the pouch is on the smaller side, so if you are larger and need lots of support, this is not the jock for you. The fabric and the waistband are very comfortable.

Guys, if you are "big" at all down there, don't try to wear this with shorts that don't have a liner. You'll flop out before you even start your run. For shorts that do have a liner this jock provides just enough extra support. It is a very comfortable jock.

Sun, September 09,2007:
Make sure you buy this a size smaller than usual. This is a vertically long/tall jock strap. The pouch and leg straps are too long. I normally would buy a medium (I have a 35" waist)but had to return it and get a small because the sides of the pouch weren't taut and would gape open, unlike every Bike jock I've had. Even with a small size, the pouch is not wide enough down towards the bottom to keep the testicles 100% in the pouch, maybe 85% in. If you fold down the waist band to take up the slack, then it works much better. With that complaint aside, this is a VERY comfortable jock strap. I could hardly tell I had it on while jogging, though I have kept my liners in my running shorts. Same goes for swimming, I didn't even feel it. Can't say that about Bike! The materials are soft, so I have to wonder if they will hold up over time.

For men with a varicocele and/or chafing problems on long distance runs I would highly recommend this jock. I have had both problems and instead of surgery for the former and tons of vaseline for the latter I have switched to this jock and it has made a significant difference. I know get cheap shorts and cut out the mesh liners and wear this jock. It's too bad that no one has come out with a short with this jock built in.

This is the most comfortable running underwear I have ever worn. Now I buy cheap shorts and cut the liner out its worked better than buying running shorts. Only if RRS made a men's short with the jock built in. I have been training for a marathon and the long runs of 6mi plus result in discomfort for me. The liners built into running shorts are like loose bikini briefs offering minimal support. This jock is great.

This jock is the best jock I've ever worn. It's much more comfortable for running than a swimmer jock, which I used to wear. The material feels great and wicks the sweat away. It's great! I've taken the advice from the other reviewers and cut out the liner in my running shorts and wear this jock along with a pair of compression shorts underneath.

Very comfortable to run in, especially with shorts with liners, where briefs can end up being too much fabric. Good support, but not the tight feel of a traditional jock. I highly recommend it.

I just ran the Pittsburgh Great Race this weekend. It's a 10k. I typically use vaseline to stop the chaffing. I thought I would give this jock a try. I cut the liner out of my running shorts and wore the RRS Jock and completed the race with a PR and did not chaffe at all. I was really surprised at the support compared to running briefs or liners in shorts and I was surprised at the dryness. I would suggest RRS make a running short with this jock incorporated instead of the liner. From what I understand the liners are present because of US Import laws that allow companies to classify shorts with liners as swim wear and thus avoid tariffs.

Thu, July 06,2006:
I have tried a lot of running shorts with vaseline and body glide and still chaff especially after mile 8. To experiment I cut out the brief from one of my running shorts and tried this jock. The last time I wore a jock was for football in HS. I have to say this jock is very comfortable compared to the old ones made of rubber and cotton. I did not chafe for the first time. It kept me dry as possible given the long distance I run. I now by cheap running shorts with good outer material and cut out the cheap mesh type briefs they have in them and just use these jock straps. Another side benefit for me has been that pain due to a varicocele I have has been greatly eleviated. The normal running shorts simply do not have enough support to help with that condition. For all you guys who might experience a dull pain have your doc check it out and if its a varicocele then this jock could help.

I've been using these for some time and have been very pleased with them. Recently I got a similar jock made by UnderGear and found it to be even more comfortable. The one from UnderGear has a little more room in the front of the pouch so that it doesn't pull you back, thus giving a more natural feel and profile.

This is an excellent product. I like jocks because they cover only the area that needs support and don't have unnecessary fabric elsewhere, especially in the seat where it's sometimes tight and uncomfortable. The fabric of this supporter transports perspiration so well that it absolutely never feels sweaty. Overall, this is a very functional and comfortable product.
