THE STRASSBURG SOCK :: Do you suffer from heel pain, plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonitis, or just tight calves? Then the Strassburg Sock is just what the doctor ordered. Wear the Strassburg Sock at night to gently stretch arch, heel and calf tissues thereby reducing pain and promoting healthy tissue regrowth. Regular size fits calf size up to 16 inches.
Features & Benefits:
Lightweight, flexible and breathable knit sock
More comfortable than hard plastic splints
Promotes a 60% faster recovery of plantar fasciitis
Pulls up on toes and stretches your arch
Treats heel pain, plantar fasciitis and achilles tendonitis
I originally purchased a different brand of this type of sock from RRS and ended up returning it due to its discomfort level. That made me wary to try this one, since I thought it would be the same. I'm glad to say I was wrong. While it did take me a few nights to get accustomed to wearing it, it is now comfortable and I do not even notice it throughout the night. All of my prior foot/achilles/calf discomfort is now gone.

Like other Plantar ...

Like other Plantar Fasciitis products, it isn't very comfortable to sleep in, but it did seem to help my PF over time. At times it did cause some soreness and stiffness in my big toe, due to the pressure and pulling back at the big toe. I have chronic PF and after wearing the sock off and on for about 2 years, the elastic is worn out to the point that it doesn't work well anymore. I will consider getting another Strassburg sock, but I will compare it to other newer products before I make a decision. Main complaint was the stiffness and pain it created in my big toe.

Much more Comfortable than a splint!

I have battled PF for over 2 years now & have learned how to manage it & still run after having the release surgery in Nov. '10.
As part of my battle, I started wearing a night splint and wore it religously until this spring. My foot is doing so well I go some nights without my splint and work it around how long my run will be the next day. It seemed to help but I still needed the surgery.
Anyway, I had learned to sleep with this thing on my foot pretty well. I decided to buy this sock to take with me while traveling knowing it would pack much easier than my big night splint.
Wow, was I impressed when trying it out. It keeps my foot flexed much better than my splint & is many times more comfortable as well. It is very adjustable to allow you to control the amount you want your foot to be flexed. It is soft and I am able to sleep on my side easier because it lays flat rather than a big thick splint to deal with. It packs very easily compared to a splint. I was also concerned it would be too big for me as I am a slight build woman, but it fits well (the Regular) although I do have to bunch it up mid-calf to keep it below my knee. The instructions said to do this and it does not seem to affect the ability of the sock to do its' job. I also sleep much better.
I was concerned that the sock would be too hot at night under covers as I am hot natured and live in a warm climate but the fabric seems to breath very easily & I have not felt hot with it yet.
I also wondered if the strap going from the top of the sock to the toes would get caught up in the sheets or be bent down by the sheets so much that the sock would not flex the foot or flex it more than I wanted, but this has not been a problem at all.
I love this product and thought I would just use it when traveling, however, I have ditched the splint and will wear this at home and on the road. Great product especially for someone moving from a splint.

In desperation I gave the Strassburg sock a try for my plantar fasciitis. I heard very positive reviews and I have to say that since I have been using it (along with my new orthodics), I feel that my plantar fasciitis has been getting better.

Seem to work well. Gave me relief from my foot pain. I need to keep using them and I will see what the long term effect is. A little hard to sleep with but I am getting use to it.

I was putting in about 45 miles a week and my plantar fasciitis was getting so bad I couldn't walk when getting out of bed in the morning. This thing really helped a lot. It took some getting used to, as others have said, but if you start with just a little tension, or none at all, for the first few nights and work up to more, it makes a huge difference. On nights I don't wear it I am back to square one so I wear it more often than not. One drawback is that it puts pressure on the back of your knee when you have a lot of tension on it; not too bad, but a consideration. I definitely recommend it if you have heel pain.

Worth the expense to relieve your pain.

After taking time off from running and trying numerous solutions, my plantar fasciitis did not seem to be getting better. Decided to purchase the Strassburg Sock as an alternative before returning to my sports doctor. After a couple of weeks of wearing the sock at night, I do feel an improvement. The tightness in the heal is not as noticeable in the morning and seems to be getting better.
Do not make the sock "to tight" at night. If you do, it will put to much pressure not on the foot and you might wake up in the middle of the night with foot or ankle pain. It's easy enough to adjust, however, the velcro makes a lot of noise and can wake your spouse which might be more painful than your physical pain.
Also, there is a seam at the bottom of the sock where your toes are. It's a little bothersome on the ends of your toes but is less noticeable if you were a small running sock.
Overall, I would suggest trying this sock.

Annoying, yes, but probably helpful

I have Achilles Tendinosis. The doctor gave me a bulky sleeping sprint for one leg, but nothing for the other, so I ordered the sock. It's a bit different. Unlike the splint, it pulls the toes back, which is probably a good thing (as the fascia and tendons are all connected) but a bit annoying. It has one huge advantage over the splint: you can get up and walk with it still on. All in all, I believe it is probably helping some.

It took a few nights to get comfortable wearing it all night. It has made a huge difference in the pain level I experience. I have plantar Faciitus on both feet, when I run, the next day I usually can't walk at all without pain, with this sock I am much more comfortable. Training for a triathlon this is helping me keep going.

Didn't hold foot in correct position

The sock pulls up on the toes too much when you try to get the foot to a 90 degree angle. That makes it very uncomfortable and painful in the toes. I was never able to pull the sock tight enough to get at 90 degrees. It should really pull from around the ball of the foot rather than from the front of the toes. I would not recommend this for someone that wants their foot at 90 degrees while they sleep.

Very good product. I have plantir faciatis in both feet but only ordered one sock due to the price. It works so well that I hate to alternate the use from one foot to the other. It seems overpriced so I won't buy two but it definately works. I get up pain free (on one foot anyway). Both feet are improving along with use of other products.

PF is awful, this works but you have to be patient - agree it's a not the best to sleep in but it works over time. I also wear an arch band from protech during the day, plus lots of calf and foot massage to keep both loose.

I never thought I'd wear such a tortureous looking device. But it works, plain and simple. After just one week of wearing this nightly, my PF feels at least 50% better. It is not uncomforatable at all. Just start off with a light tension and work your way up.

Great product, it has helped to cure my plantar fasciitis. I wear these socks on both feet and night and my feet feel great in the morning. I recommend anyone with plantar fasciitis symptoms to give these I try, you will be happy you did.

I think this product will help. I haven't been using it like I'm suppose to though. I can't wear it over night right away. It gets uncomfortable. I just use it for a couple hours in the evening and I wake up the next day with very little pain. I'm hoping over time it will address the issues in the ball of my foot too. Everything is just too tight in my calves. I was not happy with how long it took for the product to arrive from Road Runner sports. Their new delivery system is very slow.

This product had good reviews and I thought it would be more comfortable that the night splint. It didn't feel like it was truly holding my foot in that "right angle" position that it needs to heal properly.
