Comments about Garmin Forerunner 620 GPS Monitors:

GPS watches have come a long way in 5 years. I came from a Timex GPS watch that was terrible, it would only catch a signal 10% of the time after waiting 5 minutes. Of course never on race morning. I'd get frustrated hearing the beeps of everyone turning on garmin with no issues.

This signal locks on instantly. From walking out the door and 20 feet to the driveway I turn it on and it runs. It works well under trees, I think after about 500 miles it messed up 1 mile under really dense tree coverage.

I wear it all the time as my every day watch, and charge it about once or twice a week. Usually I toss it on the charger after a run the day before my long run, and when i'm out of the shower it's charged up.

The garmin connect site is easy to use, quick to keep track of stats. I still have to bust out excel to do some PR analysis since I like to keep track of records for every mile, garmin does not do this.

Many people have issues with wifi upload, I never got it to work, but it works well with bluetooth with my phone to upload workouts.

The only enhancement I with they had was an easier interface for intervals based on time. I still have to use my timex watch for intervals for my core workout (1 minute for an exercise, 10 seconds to transition to next pose, repeat).

Heart Rate Monitors how to choose & why to buy!

    Heart Rate Monitors

A heart rate monitor (HRM) is the perfect tool to help take your runs to the next level. Whether you're training for a 5k or a Marathon, you'll get in-depth insights as to how your body handles the fitness regimens you put it through. Log your average heart rate for a specific distance at a goal pace over a 2 week time period. Before you know it you'll be using less energy to cover the same distance in less time, which means you'll be getting FASTER!

You'll be living like a king or queen when you strap your HRM to your wrist for your next run. With features like stopwatch/split times, speed and distance monitors, calorie counters, target heart rate zone read-outs, you'll have every bit of data you could possibly need to take your workout to the next level.

You'll be running in the cream of the crop when you choose a heart rate monitor with the straps that go around your chest. You'll feel confident in your data because these HRM models are as accurate as heart rate monitors on the market right now get. You can't go wrong with a Garmin heart rate monitor or HRMs from Polar, Timex or Suunto.

What activities are heart rate monitors best for? Running, cycling, jogging, walking, swimming, gym workout, CrossFit & triathlons/triathlon training. Anyone looking to take their fitness to the next level should give a heart rate monitor a try!
